So I posted a thread about this a week or so ago. So me and my buddy Matt were discussing and he finally ordered the 2gb stick off Amazon. Let the pictures speak for themselves. Theres an odd thing where it displays 1gb at the bottom but 2gb at the top in system profiler. But activity monitor confirmed the 2gb does in fact work. EDIT: Added the activity monitor. Wala. 2gb in a PB12"
Just had to replace the logic board on my PMG4 DP 1.25GHz machine. For the life of me, I can't remember the operating temperature before I swapped the board. Currently it's running at 130F - 140F. This seem about right for the other folks running these machines?
Quick (hopefully!) question: Will RAM from a G4 Powerbook 1.33 GHz (PC2700) work in an iBook G4 1.2 GHz, which normally takes PC2100?
Reason for the question is that I have one of each, and am going to sell the iBook. I'd like to transfer one of the 256 Mb sticks from the PB to the iBook and then replace that stick with a 1 Gb stick.
So i bought a 3.50 cable from ebay that plugs into the back of my Powermac G4 and allows it to be put on a tv via svideo or composite vga to svideo/composite so i plug it in and i get nothing on the TV so like idk what i did wrong i adjusted the video on the Powermac to 800 x 600 (or the smallest it would go) and i still get nothing except for a black screen?
In my current dual 800mhz PowerMac G4, I have two 80gb hard drives which were ordered from Apple (didn't know better at the time). Will I be able to put them in my Mac Pro when it comes in a few weeks, or are they too old to be compatible?
i recently upgraded the hard drive in my imac g3 to a 40GB and installed tiger, is currently has 256mb. i want to upgrade it to 1gb, will this be compatible?... [URL]
Trying to get the ps3 eye to work with my emac. OS X 10.5.6. I have downloaded the latest macam and installed it, dragged the component over to the folder, and copied the component into the library/quicktime folder. When I open macam it recognizes that I have the ps3 eye hooked up, but the screen is black. Skype and yahoo also recognize the camera, but the cam monitor screen is black. I really want this to work, and have seen many posts from people with the emac/eye/macam combo and a lot of people have said it works.
I have a powerbook g4 17 in a1107. The back light does not work. I am not at all sure what the display resolution is. If I install an lcd screen with anything other than the original resolution, will the notebook be able to support it?
I asked this earlier but, never a decent answer and a few people asking if I have PCI-X and PCI-Express mixed up which made no sense for what was being asked.
I have a PCI USB2.0 card rev2.2 that I removed from my old G4 MDD.
I upgraded to a used G5 2ghz DP (M9032LL/A) system which has "three open full-length PCI-X slots: one 133MHz, 64-bit slot and two 100MHz, 64-bit slots" from what the specs on [URL] says.
I was told that a PCI rev2.x card will work in a PCI-X slot but when I tried the system didn't even power on.
So... should it work? does it matter which PCI-X slot? or was that guy confused between PCI-X and PCI-e?
Hoping it will work because 3 USB ports isn't enough when you have a WACOM, Scanner, Printer, Mouse, Keyboard, USB Drive, etc...
I just finished upgrading my 1st gen macbook to an n card and have a N airport extreme router so the only thing that is going to drag down my network, especially disk access, is my Powerbook G4 1.67. I've searched the boards and found mention to cardbus cards for N, but all I can find online is G type cards. Are there N wireless cards that would work on my Powerbook? And are any of these 5 ghz?
Today I accidentally turned off my iMac by mistake (pressed off button twice while in sleep mode). And when I try to boot it when it comes to the little mac logo it says "this boot up disk does not work with this mac please restart I press restart and it says the same thing, also when it turned off with an os 9 in it and when I booted it I definatly did not press down c. I think it maybe the hd or is it possible to change boot priority?
Suddenly the 3,e,d and c keys of my Powerbook won't work. They were working fine earlier today, and I didn't drop the machine, spill anything on the keyboard. Any idea of what may be going on and how to fix it?
I have an old PowerMac G3, (Yosemite) and I thought about adding a 56k fax modem to it just for kicks. Question is: will a PCI fax modem work in the powermac g3? It's running Mac OS X and the modem is rather new.
so basically this powermac g4 quick silver 733mhz is giving me big problems connecting to the internet, its got built in ethernet and modem, also a ethernet card, and wireless usb dlink thing. so i install the driver for the dlink usb thing driver works etc, it says its connected but wont go to a page apple.ca (safari), so then i put the ethernet cord in the ethernet card lights flashing then goess to apple.ca so how can i just get the internet to work using usb only and ethernet only? im assuming the built in thernet isnt working on a case of that theres a card there i might just reinstall tiger off a imac g5 since i rember the internet setup was so much easier, wait nvm about the off a imac g5
Just wanting to know for a friend if the stock 8x AGP card from my G5 Powermac would work in a G4 Cube? I didn't think it would but does anyone know for sure?
I have a white g3 ibook dual usb. I put in a bigger hard drive and can't install tiger which is a cd not dvd that boots fine in my imac. Cd drive will not eject with eject (f12) key or fn f12. I have to pull it open manually. I can reset the nvram by booting into firmware and typing reset all. I can't boot up to a screen with a refresh arrow and a right arrow that I can click on but nothing happens. All I get a start up is a folder with a blinkin face question mark.
I got an eMac (short for educational Mac) from a friend. Anyway, I wanted to try to get some function out of it seeing as I'm a Linux guy and a windows guy, Apple is something new to play with.My mouse no longer works with the Mac and I don't know why and for the life of me with all my experience with Win. and Linux I can't fix it. I have two that I've tried, both of them were Microsoft mouses that had worked previously but then one day they stopped. I can move around with the keyboard but the mouse is a no go. Does anyone know what I might have done to screw up a perfectly functioning mouse? I know they are connected correctly because when I plug it into the USB port the laser light comes on, problem is the cursor in the screen doesn't move.
My CPU fans for proc.A are near-constantly capped at 300rpm(system minimum), no matter how damn fast the B-fans spin to compensate.I have: Kept it clean inside. Kept CPU settings on Highest, as usual, but tried Reduced/Auto Repaired permissions Reset the PRAM Reset the PMU Booted into single-user mode Reinstalled Leopard Obtained & ran Service Diagnostic CD and passed all tests Re-calibrated the CPU's only to notice the speeds now hover around 400rpm now What more can I possibly try? I don't believe a re-seating of CPU's is in order. They work great. All my fans & temperature sensors passed their diagnostics tests, too.I am very irritated by the noise of 2/4 fans overcompensating and getting very loud, from 2000rm-4000rpm, and hey, my Mac is screwed up, and I really need to fix this.
I just bought a PowerBook G4 off of craigslist today. 1.67GHz G4 processor, 15" screen, etc etc. The battery shows 99%, and when I unplug it I can count one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi, four.. oops, it's dead. In the menu bar I can see it recognizing that it's switched to battery a split second before the screen goes black.
An excerpt from System Profiler, leading me to believe the battery is fine: Battery Installed: Yes First low level warning: No Full Charge Capacity (mWh): 3615 Remaining Capacity (mWh): 3587 Amperage (mA): 0 Voltage (mV): 12494 Cycle Count: 274
i dropped my powerbook and now it doesn't work. i charged it and tried powering it on but nothing happened. however i connected my ipod and it got charged.
I currently own a G4 PowerBook running OS X 10.2.8 (archaic, I know) which I use as a word processor. I want to set it up to recieve my friend's 802.11 wireless signal (with his permission), which is sent out by a base station tied to a Windows machine. Two questions I have:
First, will an Apple PowerBook and Airport card be able to receive a signal from a Windows machine (I don't see why not, but...)? Secondly, I seem to only be able to find the AirPort Extreme card on the Apple Store. Will the Extreme card plug and play with my notebook, or not? Are there any good third-party cards that I can buy that will work well if not?
