Suddenly the 3,e,d and c keys of my Powerbook won't work. They were working fine earlier today, and I didn't drop the machine, spill anything on the keyboard. Any idea of what may be going on and how to fix it?

i dropped my powerbook and now it doesn't work. i charged it and tried powering it on but nothing happened. however i connected my ipod and it got charged.

I have heard that the TripleHead2Go won't work with a Powerbook, but I read a blog of someone actually getting it to work. Has anyone gotten this to work, or know anything about this. My hard drive died 2 weeks ago.
So i just install a new hard drive and i forgot my superdrive does not work.
all it does is take the restore disk and spits it back out.
how can i install the mac OS on the hard drive without my superdrive working?
i have somewhere a old usb external cdrom but i dont know if i can find or if it will run/work.
If i find and my external will work, Can i use that to install my OS restore disc and it will reconize it and run/install?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new MBP 13" and it's been amazing so far. I just experienced this odd issue a few hours ago when I went to lower the volume from my keyboard. In doing so, it didn't alter the volume's level, but launched the actions from the keys on top-left side. Most of the keys in the middle don't even work at all. I tried restarting the MacBook and I'm still experiencing the same problem. It seems that all of the keys on the keyboard are just fine, with the exception of the very top row. Any clue as to how I can fix this and get the keys to do what they're supposed to?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have OSX installed on a very old Powerbook. Well it was working and then I left it for awhile and now it is giving me the good old folder to question mark screen (maybe someone dropped it?). Well I'm not much of a mac user so I looked up all of the different boot key commands and tried to boot from my OSX CD. Holding down C did nothing, and neither did ANY of the other commands except holding down option and that key command that restarts the computer (apple, option, shift, esc?). Anyway, I got into the screen that shows your hard drive and all other devices and it actually listed the CD drive so I clicked it and clicked the next arrow. I waited for awhile and then the screen reloaded (as if it was rescanning for removable devices) and then stopped and only displayed the local disk. What is going on?! It only sometimes displays the CD in this screen and the next arrow never does anything regardless!!
I really don't know any of the computers stats but if I were to guess they're pretty bad. All I know is it used to run OSX just fine and then other people used it and now it doesn't do anything.
Weirdest thing, all of a sudden my command + _____ (Q, F, anything!) refuse to work. Checked everywhere, seems as if they should be working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo back in May all of a sudden my Delete key stopped working well, I had to press it twice basically to get a response. I also noticed that my tab key and my space key didn't work either, as well as my right arrow and my up arrow. All summer they worked fine, and now that school has started again they don't work well. Sometimes they don't work at all, sometimes space but not delete, sometimes they only work when I press twice, etc.
I brought this up in May and people said its keyboard failure and that I need to back everything up before I can't use my laptop. I disagreed, since if it was laptop failure it wouldn't be just 5 keys. I was right and here I am many months later. I crackedopen my(crap.there.goes.thespace.key.not.kidding 0) and every thing seemed ok. I closed it back up and now I am making this topic. What could be causing my TAB, DELETE, SPACEBAR, RIGHT ARROW, TOP ARROW, to not work, sometimes. Sometimes it works perfect for days/weeks, and then all of a sudden works 50% or not work at........
I spilled coffee on my keyboard. Now, some of my keys don't work. Namely, my apostrophe key, the letter "p", my return key, and delete. Also both slashes. And my arrows, save for Mr. Right. My question is this: am I screwed? is there any chance I can restore function to these? I have a nice big bottle of isopropyl alcohol at my disposal and I can pretty much have my way with this thing. It's beyond warranty so, short of blowing it up, I'm not too worried about any minor damage I might do to it. anyway, if anyone can throw out some advice, whether it's "this is how you fix it," or "toss it through a window," I would be endlessly grateful.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running 10.5.1 and Windows Vista Ultimate x64 on my Mac Pro. I just installed Vista, and then just taking a random guess, I decided to insert my leopard disc into the Windows OS, and sure enough, it showed up as "boot camp" and installed a whole bunch of drivers. Is that how it's supposed to be done? I couldn't find another way to get drivers into Windows.
Anyways, the volume keys work, but the eject key doesn't. Is there any way to make it work?
It was working fine before i went out tonight, came back, turned it on and my volume keys wont work, it makes the splodge sound but nothing happens! There is also a little white circle with a line through it (like a warning sign on a street) underneath the volume counter.One place said to plug in a headphone jack and take it out straight away, that seemed to fix the same problem with other people but not me!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've done a complete reinstall. I've downloaded the x64 drivers. I've tried everything, and yet my function keys (sound, brightness, eject key, etc) just won't work! They did work when I just used the original disc that came with my MBP. They all worked except the eject key when I only used said Leopard disc. So, when I tried the x64 disc, everything went kaput, including my sound. I have since got that working, but now neither my function keys, or eject key, are working. Can someone give me a step-by-step of what they might have done to get around this, with links?

History: Loaded everything, updated software and then noticed it didn't work. Called mac, went back and forth, in the end they said do a reinstall.
