PowerPC :: Switching Parts On PM G5

Aug 10, 2008

I have a dual 2.5ghz PM G5 that works fine except that the heat exchanger leaked. Everything else is fine. My question is, I found someone on CL who was selling a quad G5 system for $375 because of a damaged mainboard. Could I take the Mobo from the dual G5 and put it in the case for the quad? The processor sockets are same but I'm unsure as to mounting issues.

PowerPC :: G4 17 Inch Parts Vs 17 Parts

Does anyone know if these parts can be switched out? I know the battery and dc in board cannot be (I don't think) but can the logic board, memory, hard drive, etc be switched? I can't get power in my powerbook and would like to test it with the logic board from my macbook pro.

PowerPC :: What Useful Parts Are Left From G5 Quad

Jun 11, 2007

My PM G5 Quad is in need of a new logic board and processor. I am waiting until after WWDC to see if there will be an update to the Mac Pro line - as I will be buying a new one to replace my old one. What's useful to keep from my old G5? I feel like I'm parting out an old Camaro or something. I'm planning to at minimum keep the HD and just pop it into the new machine (hope I can do that). I'm fairly certain the RAM is not going to be compatible, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I can scavenge off the old machine.

PowerPC :: Old IBook - Sell/trash/sell For Parts?

Jul 24, 2007

I have an old, old 10Gig iBook - the very first one that came out in white, I think I bought it 2001 - that has been working great until the power cord broke a few months ago. I just bought a new Macbook to replace it, and I'm wondering what I should do with the old one? The only problem is that I have no power cord so I can't go in and wipe the harddrive, and I would really like all my stuff erased before I give it away. Is there any thing worth any money on that old machine?

I have a G5 2.7ghz powermac. Recently it began switching itself off at start up. If it did boot up - it would only last for a few minutes that it would freeze.
I clean out the dust from the inside and even took the cpu cover off - none of it has made any difference. I have also replaced the lithium battery. Has anybody else experience this?

PowerPC :: Power Adapter Keeps Switching On And Off?

Oct 4, 2009

I have a 12" Powerbook 1 ghz (yes, it's getting old) running Tiger. When it's turned off, it charges just fine. However, when the computer is on, the power from the adapter keeps cycling on and off. For example, the lighted band around the power adapter tip switches from orange to off (NOT to green) repeatedly: about 3-4 seconds with power (lighted band is orange, screen backlight is bright, and if I'm in the Energy Saver section of the System Preferences, it thinks it's plugged in) and about 1 second with no power (lighted band is off, screen backlight dims, and if I'm in Energy Saver area, the computer thinks it's on battery power.

This is irritating because 1) the computer won't charge when on, and 2) as I type this, the screen goes from bright to dim to bright to dim etc.

Obvious answer is the power adapter, but I don't have access to another. What does everyone think? is it the adapter or some other problem?

FWIW, the internal hard drive just died and I'm booting from an external FireWire drive. It started doing this power thing a few days before the internal hard drive died.

PowerPC :: Fast User Switching Destroyed My Ibook G4?

I was switching between accounts. When I switched to my admin account, the computer went to the original welcome to your new mac set up video with all the welcome words in different languages, then started with the new mac set up stuff, ie, what's your name, etc. I tried apple Q but that didn't work, so I restarted the computer with control, apple, start. Now my computer just shows the white screen with apple and the round spinning circle.

Applications :: Keynote ཅ: Making Parts Of A Table Appear

Feb 17, 2009

Ok so I am making a presentation using Keynote '09. I have one slide that has a huge table of different appliances and their cost. Here is what I would like to do: the first row is entitled "refrigerator". I would like there to be one slide that just has the table title and this first row. Then I would like to show the next slide, which has pictures and descriptions of the specific refrigerator on it. Then, the next slide would be the table again, except this time another row would appear, in this case entitled "heating", then I could show the next slide which has info about the heating system, etc., etc. I have used Magic Move (and love it btw), but that can only be used on the slide right after the target slide, so that would not work for this since they have a slide in between them. I have no idea if this is possible, and maybe the only way to do this is to make a different slide every time, but if there is an easy way to do this that would be awesome!!
