Jan 17, 2010Does anyone know if these parts can be switched out? I know the battery and dc in board cannot be (I don't think) but can the logic board, memory, hard drive, etc be switched? I can't get power in my powerbook and would like to test it with the logic board from my macbook pro.

Apr 14, 2012After installing the latest updates for Java to both 10.7.3 and 10.6.8 the MRTAgent or other files ( /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.mrt.uiagent.plist and /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mrt.plist did not seem to install. I have installed both through Software Update and also through the stand alone downloads. Various sites have said the above should have installed and there is no evidence on my machine.

Apr 19, 2009I have a 17 Inch Intel-based IMac (2006). when I press the power button I can here and feel fans running but the Power Indicator Light turns on and the screen remains black. Nothing else happens. Not sure what I did. I didn't take anything apart. I checked over the whole compartment and all connectors appear to still be connected.
I did some research figured out how to disassemble the IMac, purchased a new hard drive, backed up the computer and when I took it all apart there was a third connector on the hard drive (temp sensor?). The new drive did not have this connector so instead of experimenting I put the computer all back together.

Do I possibly have the wrong version on Mini DVI, for instance DVI-D instead of DVI-I?

May 27, 2012my macbook pro (late 2011) is powering down without warning. I'll be writing an email and w/o warning, it's off. I'm unable to turn it back on with the power button unless i hold it down for a slow count to 10. Fyi - machine is 100% charged when this happens. Two days ago, I did SMC and PRC resets with Apple Care. I needed to do both of these again yesterday on my own.

May 29, 2012I have an Intel-based iMac desktop that suddenly began to have cd drive issues. Whenever I put any disc into the drive it almost goes all the way in and then it automatically ejects the cd. The cd never goes fully into the drive. May 31, 2012I have a 2006 Intel Macbook with a crashed hard drive. I'm kinda broke right now, so instead of buying a new hard drive I loaded ubuntu 10.4 onto an external hard drive (USB) and tried to boot the macbook from it. (Failed). I hold down option to launch Startup Manager and all it shows me is a cursor (no drives). I know the external drive is bootable because I a) booted the laptop from a LiveCD and used it to create the hard drive and b) I booted a Dell from the external. I've tried moving the drive to a different USB port, but no chips. I don't have anything else connected to the computer.Â
my question is: Can I boot the macbook from the external hard drive if the internal hard drive is shot?
