I changed the username, passwords, background, settings, name of the harddrive and all that, but left her music and photos on for the time being. Then I turned it off for the night. I remember something popping off before it turned off, and I think it was just saying changes had been made or something like that. And I THOUGHT I had pressed okay to save those changes....it was late. But I turn it on this morning and it's practically gone back to basics. EVERYTHING is gone...no music, no photos. The settings and background are factory status. iTunes, iPhoto, and iChat are responding like I'd never used them. The only thing that stayed was my user name, the photo, and the name of the hard drive. I've looked through the computer and havent found anything. I couldnt have restored it, could I?

i bought an emac that was previously used in a school. i changed all the settings on the computer to my own and when i shut it down and turned it back on, the settings were restored to the original. i've heard that schools use programs to make this happen so it doesn't save anything on their computers but i'm not sure of the name of the application or how to get rid of it.

Ok, so, I got given an emac 2002 the other day, its been used at my local college for the last seven years and so it has all these student restrictions on it and so I want to hard restore to it's factory settings.
I have the osx discs and i've tried running them by holdig "C" on power up but it doesn't respond.
I just want it to go back to factory settings.
It would be awesome if you could keep the language basic because I'm not very good with computer talk!

Just wanted to find out if any one will do a clean install of SL on their new imac? I hear there is a lot of bloatware ie Printer Drivers, Asian Language Fonts etc that take up a lot of unnecessary HD space.
I'm getting an i7 very soon waiting for possible iLife update, but will pull trigger what ever happens before July 7th for educational discount.

I recently came across an old iMac G3 by a dumpster (It is perfectly functional, the fact that I found it by the dumpster has nothing to do with the problem). I brought it up to find out that every user created on the computer is password protected. I've been trying to get past it, but it's impossible. I can't afford an install CD, resetting the PRAM and the PRU doesn't do a thing, and Open Firmware is a pain. Is there any way to get into the iMac without having to buy a disc or go all around town trying to find the original owner so I can get his passwords?

So my mom just bought an iMac from her friend's mother, and I'm trying to restore it to factory settings using the Installation disks that came with my MacBook Pro. I just inserted the discs and clicked "Install Mac OS X" and then it gives me a "Restart" button, but I cannot restart it without putting in the Password which I do not have. Is there another way to do this?

I am wondering because of the click sound if it may actually be the hard-drive causing the pausing issues (as processor/loading noise on macs is generally silent). I have done all of the disk utility fixes etc. with no positive results; disk utility can not find any problems with the HD.

I've clicked on the battery icon when not plugged in and I don't see a condition at all. I've also checked settings for the battery in preferences and do not see an option. Am I doing anything wrong?

So I have had my 27" i7 (July 2010) for about a month. On initial install the RAM showed 12gb (which is correct). I had the stock 4 GB and then added 2 4GB chips from OWC. They displayed correctly.
Now, suddenly am showing 6GB. Bank 0 DIMM 0 empty, Bank 1/DIMM 1 2gb, Bank 0 Dimm 1 Empty, Bank 1 Dimm 1 4gb.
Reseat all and try again? Seems an odd failure. Bank 0 give up the ghost? Just seems really odd both factory and add in ram suddenly failed...

I just got my first 13' MacBook Pro 1 week ago and a couple of days I ran a cross a thread about how to look up your battery condition and most peoples said their Battery Condition was "Good" but mine is showing "Normal" and I just got it a week ago. My question is, is this really normal or should it say Good?

I have a Powerbook (the last revision Apple released) and i have Leopard 10.5.4 running on it right now...
Since i got a Macbook Pro though (waiting for delivery) i posted an ad to sell my powerbook on a site here in Greece. a dude called to say he's interested but was wondering if he can format it and install OS 9 since he's running ArchiCAD 7 on OS 9 now and thinks it won't run at all or at least not that well on Tiger or Leopard.
Hence the question, can it be done? or is there a hardware limitation somewhere or something? is it as simple as sticking the OS 9 disk in the powerbook and going through the install process as usual?

I just noticed my mbp battery was at Great but since its been dieing alot faster lately, I decided to take a look. First thing I noticed that it now says normal? Is it because im on reserve battery? Im just worried because I cant just go out and "buy" a new battery.

I have a 15 inch June 2009 MacBook Pro that has 7 hour battery built in. I only had it for 2 weeks and I only have 3 cycles on the battery. My question is that why under System Profiler, it told me that the battery condition is normal? Where my other 13" MBP that my brother owns for about a month is showing Good.
i tried calibrating it, and it still shows Normal. Coconut battery says I have 100% battery health. But still, it's kinda annoying for me.

I just bought as internal hard drive for my Mac Pro, to back up everything from the system drive. I was just wondering, the drive came through the post, it was well packaged, though is there was way of scanning it to see whether its 100% condition? Would I format it by in Disk Utility by clicking on the drive and pressing erase.

I am running Excel 2008 on my MacBook Pro. I'd like to conditionally format some cells in a single column with a condition format like: <COndition 1> AND <Condition 2> AND <Condition 3> However, the (paltry) help seems to suggest that I can only do a logical OR of the conditions. It says "If more than one condition is true for a cell, Excel applies only the formatting of the first true condition to that cell."
Although that is a bit vague, I certainly can't get it to do logical AND through the graphical interface. Google has failed to find me the answer. Sniff.

Also, does the fan run really loud, all the time, and what is the RPMs? Please let us MBA1 owners know when you get a chance.
