View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a chart on excel 08 that for the following type of data:
A X Y
1 a 4
1 b 5
1 c 8
2 d 4
2 e 7
2 f 6
3 g 4
3 h 7
3 i 2
The graph has column X on the X-axis and Y on the y-axis. Is there a way graph the means of the Y column for each of the groups in column A (1's, 2's, 3's)?
I need to make a very, very simple line graph. In column A, I have a list of years. In column B, I have the data....numbers that correspond to something in that year. Simple, right? It really couldn't be any less complex. I selected both columns, then I went to create a new line graph, and it created a graph that had the years (from 0-2500 even though the actual range is 1973-2005) on the Y axis, and the data on the X axis. And each column of data was its own series, so I had 2 lines, which, due to the scales, was basically 2 horizontal lines. I removed the extra series (the year series), and was able to get the line to look right. It also put the column B data on the Y axis like I want, but on the X axis, it just counts from 1-33. But I want the years on the X axis. How the hell do I do this? I'm 99% positive Excel 2004 let you set the X axis labels.....did they really remove it in 2008? This seems like something that should be so simple, I shouldn't have to post on a forum to figure out

I'm supposed to graph a set of data points for a project, which I have done, but when I export the graph as an image, the data points aren't there. I think this might have to do with getting rid of the line connecting them (which I am not supposed to have). Is there a way to keep the data points visible in the exported image?

My question is that why under System Profiler, it told me that the battery condition is normal? Where my other 13" MBP that my brother owns for about a month is showing Good.
i tried calibrating it, and it still shows Normal. Coconut battery says I have 100% battery health. But still, it's kinda annoying for me.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am running Excel 2008 on my MacBook Pro. I'd like to conditionally format some cells in a single column with a condition format like: <COndition 1> AND <Condition 2> AND <Condition 3> However, the (paltry) help seems to suggest that I can only do a logical OR of the conditions. It says "If more than one condition is true for a cell, Excel applies only the formatting of the first true condition to that cell."
Although that is a bit vague, I certainly can't get it to do logical AND through the graphical interface. Google has failed to find me the answer. Sniff.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently trying to create some graphs in Excel, and the data isn't plotting as I would like it to be - not sure if there is something I am doing wrong here or if there is a setting to change. My data goes like this:
Mass (g)Average Period (s)
502.074
752.089
1002.110
1252.111
and I would like mass on the x-axis and average period on the y-axis. However, my graph is placing both values on the y-axis and placing a key beside the graph. The graph and the way I have set out the data are attached below.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new wk 11 MBA 1.6/80g. I've been reading threads on CPU heat and core shutdown. I'm trying to decide whether I need to return my sys for an exchange. Other than heat/shutdown issues my MBA is awesome. Excellent fit and finish, no dead pixels, lid alignment is perfect, etc. When playing HD vid at full screen with my desktop background randomly changing at 5 sec intervals the vid stuttered some and I saw one of my cores intermittently shutting down. However, I learned to stop the stuttering by making my desktop background static. I was thrilled. I could overload the system with two vids playing simultaneously and watch my core temp go to 84/85C with some stuttering on the vids and some intermittent core shutdown. Finally the temp settled to mid 70's. However, I later noticed that I was having periodic core shutdown at 69C. This seems way low for a core to be shutting down.
Ambient temp for my room has consistently been 70F through all of my tests. As I type this message my core usage is very low, temp is 47C. My activity graph shows intermittent periods of both cores having no activity. How can the graph show no periodic activity on each core while I type this? I thought core shutdown was when the core shows no activity for some period of time. Perhaps periods of inactivity which really indicate core shutdown could be different as compared to very low demands on the CPU's? But, am I misreading core shutdown? Is my unit defective? Is excellent fit and finish/build quality the norm for MBA? I don't want to exchange and have dead pixels or a warped lid, etc. I would rather open the unit and mess with thermal paste but I can't see it correcting core shutdown at low temps under heavy load. I purchased this MBA on Saturday.
I have been trying to plot a simple line graph in excel 2008, using two columns, one with my x values and one with my corresponding Y values. However I cannot do it..it will not let me put the data together but rather has two separate lines for each column...or it will have all points in a straight vertical line...i am really confused on why it is so difficult to make a simple graph
