I have a 2007 imac which i want to restore/erase the hard drive so it's like its out the box. I have the orignial Install DVDs but when i put them in they won't run because i get the powerpc is no longer supported message. I upgraded to lion but no longer have the disk for it..Any Ideas how i can restore?

I had to interrupt the migration assistant and it seems that some of my applications and documents are incomplete (files missing/broken) I have heard the best way to solve this problem is to restore the macs factory settings, then start the migration assistant over again. Ok, so, I got given an emac 2002 the other day, its been used at my local college for the last seven years and so it has all these student restrictions on it and so I want to hard restore to it's factory settings.
I have the osx discs and i've tried running them by holdig "C" on power up but it doesn't respond.
I just want it to go back to factory settings.
It would be awesome if you could keep the language basic because I'm not very good with computer talk!

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs I mentioned in a previous thread, I'm selling my iMac to buy a MacBook. The MacBook (2008 uMB) has arrived, with all the discs etc, which is brilliant.
My iMac however, came preloaded with Tiger, with a Leopard upgrade disc in the box. This Leopard disc has disappeared off the face of the planet, and so Apple are shipping one out to me, not sure when it will arrive. In the meantime, my auction ends tomorrow, so would it be possible to restore the iMac using the Leopard discs that have come with the MacBook, or is it safer to reinstall Tiger, and wait for the Leopard disc to arrive before shipping?
I recently came across an old iMac G3 by a dumpster (It is perfectly functional, the fact that I found it by the dumpster has nothing to do with the problem). I brought it up to find out that every user created on the computer is password protected. I've been trying to get past it, but it's impossible. I can't afford an install CD, resetting the PRAM and the PRU doesn't do a thing, and Open Firmware is a pain. Is there any way to get into the iMac without having to buy a disc or go all around town trying to find the original owner so I can get his passwords?

Searched the archives but no luck so far. My old PB G4 is running 10.4.11. When I installed the OS, I chose not to install iPhoto and iMovie because I didn't think I'd need them on this machine. View 8 Replies View RelatedI wonder if anyone can give me the basic steps to setting up a RAID array on a Powermac G4 (I think I mean a Raid 0 ie one extra hard drive).I have looked up a couple of articles but they advise to use the original install disc during the set up process. Unfortunately I don't have the original install disc. I have available one extra internal hard drive and one external hard drive.
I would like to set it up so that there are two internal hard drives with one replicating to the other one.
Through Erase and Install and some other processes I lost a couple of applications, one of them garageband. I have a Mac OS X Leopard, but I just recently upgraded from my original Panther. So I put in the first Panther disk and chose the "Install Applications and Classic Support." It installed fine, but then when it came time to actually restore the applications I got a message that said "Could not set up necessary connection with helper tool. Make sure the application bundle is intact and try again," and I had to quit the installation. I tried again an the same thing happened.
What does this mean? what's an application bundle and how do I make sure it's intact? A lot of stuff got moved around lately and perhaps the applications folder isn't where it should be, could this be a problem?

Restore is where I got a little confused. I don't have the original Leopard Install disk which I'm pretty sure I need to restore.
BUT I what i need to know is if i could potentially just download a Leopard Install disk in the form of a .dmg file and burn it to a DVD and use that to restore?
During a botched Linux install. The partition was 64 GB, but now there are two, one is 45 GB and the other is about 20 GB. No earthly idea how I did that. How to restore them back to one single 64 GB partition, preferably without having to reformat and reinstall OS X.
