PowerPC :: 15" Display Pink On Warm Up?

Sep 5, 2006

I bought a used powerbook 15" Ti 1ghz, that upon powering on, or coming out of sleep mode for about 15-20 secs the screen has a pink tint. What might cause this? Is it going to die? Is it something I should repair, or live with? Do these screens warm up? it doesnt bother me to much if it doesnt get worse or stop working.

MacBook :: Palmrest Getting Real Warm / Gets Warm During Processing

Jan 3, 2009

On my second macbook and notice a difference in this one as opposed to the first one (although in all fairness i didn't use my first one all that much as i had to return it because of bad vibrations). I have no programs running and all I'm doing is lightly browsing the web (craigslist, macrumors, gamefaqs). My temps are 42C and approx. 1801rpm. I think this is normal, but my palmrest really warms up. Not to the point I can not use the notebook...just wondering if this is normal...

PowerPC :: Screen Goes Pink Flickering On IBook

Apr 2, 2010

I'm new to this forum and sensed that maybe someone could give me an advice about my damaged LCD screen of my old iBook.

A few days ago I opened my iBook and the screen suddenly couldn't portrait any white color properly. Everything was flickering and moving. Darker areas have a green flickering as well. I'm not a absolute tech expert, but I tried already a few things. I hooked it up to an external monitor and the picture was fine! So it must be hardware related right?

Now the weird thing. Sometimes the panel suddenly works properly for a few hours. I don't know what could trigger it, I tried everything. What should I do? I took some pictures and uploaded them to Flickr:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/3129175...7623630430475/

I know the machine is old, but I originally planned to get a new MBP this summer. I can't afford a new machine right now and the current MBP are just overpriced compared to similar old products on the market.
I have to be mobile, so I need a laptop.

I have attached a screenshot and was wondering if anyone might have a clue what has caused this to happen

PowerPC :: Powerbook Internal Display Won't Turn On With External Display

May 22, 2007

For the past few months i have been using an external display hooked up to my 12" powerbook g4. I have had it on a dual display mode so no mirroring. Recently i would open the laptop lid waking it from being in sleep mode and my internal display will not turn on. The apply system profiler does not even recognize that the internal display exists. My external display works fine and has always been set as the main display. If i go to detect displays nothign happens. I have tried restarting the computer, instering system disks, unplugging the external and nothing has worked. I simply cannot get my internal screen to fire back up. When i used to unplug my external display the internal display would switch back to being the main display and everything would be fine. Now i cannot get the internal display to function whatsoever. Please try and help me as a need this laptop working and i will be ordering a mac pro soon for use with my external display.

PowerPC :: Display For G4 12" - Setup Not Compatible For Cinema Display?

Mar 10, 2008

I am looking for a display to use with my Powerbook G4 12". I am in love with the 30" cinema display, but according to technical support today, my setup is not compatible (supposedly, but the person on the phone didn't sound to sure). I have a mini DVI, but the 30" requires a dual DVI. I think the 23" display requires DVI, which I can attain with an adapter. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can use with my computer? The bigger the better for me. Also what do you think of the older (plastic case) apple displays?

MacBook Pro :: Warm Gloves That Allow Typing?

Feb 3, 2010

The Mac Lab at my school has terrible temperature regulation. It's in the basement of an open floor plan building, and during the winter it gets so bad in there that my fingers go numb. Obviously these are not ideal conditions when you are trying to work with a keyboard, a mouse and a wacom for hours on end. I'm wondering, does anybody own or know of a pair of gloves that happen to be thin enough to allow for typing yet still keep your hands warm?

I tried googling for a bit but all I could find were gloves with the fingertips cut off. I think I must have poor circulation in my hands or something because my fingers and toes seem to stay cold most of the winter regardless of how warm my body is. And working on a computer in a cold room just makes it exponentially worse of course.

IMac :: Suddenly Shuts Down - Screen Warm

May 25, 2009

I received my new iMac on May 20. It is a 3.06 with an ATI card. I have not had much time to use it until this evening. I had been been setting up some bookmarks in Safari and then was working on a spreadsheet for about an hour when it suddenly shut down. The power strip in which it was plugged in still had it's light on. The iMac is the only item plugged into the strip. I then felt around the screen, the bottom section was cool but the top was rather warm.

The temperature in the air conditioned house is 71F. Programs open at the time were Safari - which was on an idle screen as I had logged out of a site. Two sessions of Finder Entourage Excel - which I was actively using. Is this an over temp shutdown? I recall some people posting the temperature of their Macs. Are there any monitors on the iMac to see how hot it is running? There were no warnings that it was going to shut down.

MacBook Pro :: Applecare - Computer Running Warm

Mar 4, 2010

I just thought i'd share my applecare story. I have a 2.2 ghz SR macbookpro. the headphone jack was acting a little static and i thought that the computer was running warm. So i sent it to apple with my installed seagate 500gb 7200rpm drive. Apple called me and told me they couldn't fix it with my drive in it because it wasn't under their warranty. But, they would put a free 160gb drive in instead and mail my 500gb back. They also did some additional work.

So the first time i sent it in they replaced:
Logic Board and graphics processor
Left in/out board
flex cable
hard drive
flex cable (a diff one)
left fan
right fan.............

MacBook Pro :: Screen Goes Pink By Itself?

Mar 19, 2012

My late 2009 Macbook Pro started to have screen issues a couple weeks ago. Basically, the screen just goes pink as in the picture below. The laptop came with a dual GPU (GeForce 9400M & GeForce 9600M GT) and switching between them does not resolve the problem. I also tried re-calibrating the screen display, but to no avail. I tried googling the issue but nothing useful came out of that. I've also tried running the apple hardware test but it said everything is fine.

This issue has come out of nowhere (I haven't spilled anything on my laptop, nor have I dropped it...). At first, it appeared to go pink randomly, and go back to normal randomly. But now, it remains pink all the time. I would have taken it to an Apple Store if I could, unfortunately there's no such thing as an Apple Store in my country. So now I'm stuck with this annoying pink screen
