Jan 3, 2009On my second macbook and notice a difference in this one as opposed to the first one (although in all fairness i didn't use my first one all that much as i had to return it because of bad vibrations). I have no programs running and all I'm doing is lightly browsing the web (craigslist, macrumors, gamefaqs). My temps are 42C and approx. 1801rpm. I think this is normal, but my palmrest really warms up. Not to the point I can not use the notebook...just wondering if this is normal...

Feb 3, 2010The Mac Lab at my school has terrible temperature regulation. It's in the basement of an open floor plan building, and during the winter it gets so bad in there that my fingers go numb. Obviously these are not ideal conditions when you are trying to work with a keyboard, a mouse and a wacom for hours on end. I'm wondering, does anybody own or know of a pair of gloves that happen to be thin enough to allow for typing yet still keep your hands warm?
I tried googling for a bit but all I could find were gloves with the fingertips cut off. I think I must have poor circulation in my hands or something because my fingers and toes seem to stay cold most of the winter regardless of how warm my body is. And working on a computer in a cold room just makes it exponentially worse of course.

Mar 5, 2012Apple say MacBook Pro early 2011 should have 7+ hour capacity. Mine dries out in less than 2 hour. Beside: The computer gets very warm, cannot contact to a table without damage the table.

MacBook Pro :: Applecare - Computer Running Warm
Mar 4, 2010I just thought i'd share my applecare story. I have a 2.2 ghz SR macbookpro. the headphone jack was acting a little static and i thought that the computer was running warm. So i sent it to apple with my installed seagate 500gb 7200rpm drive. Apple called me and told me they couldn't fix it with my drive in it because it wasn't under their warranty. But, they would put a free 160gb drive in instead and mail my 500gb back. They also did some additional work.
So the first time i sent it in they replaced:
Logic Board and graphics processor
Left in/out board
flex cable
hard drive
flex cable (a diff one)
left fan
right fan.............

May 25, 2009I received my new iMac on May 20. It is a 3.06 with an ATI card. I have not had much time to use it until this evening. I had been been setting up some bookmarks in Safari and then was working on a spreadsheet for about an hour when it suddenly shut down. The power strip in which it was plugged in still had it's light on. The iMac is the only item plugged into the strip. I then felt around the screen, the bottom section was cool but the top was rather warm.
The temperature in the air conditioned house is 71�F. Programs open at the time were Safari - which was on an idle screen as I had logged out of a site. Two sessions of Finder Entourage Excel - which I was actively using. Is this an over temp shutdown? I recall some people posting the temperature of their Macs. Are there any monitors on the iMac to see how hot it is running? There were no warnings that it was going to shut down.

Mac Mini :: Restart Message - Hold Power Button / Press Restart Button
Apr 29, 2009I have just shipped my Mac Mini to its new home and I've had reports that the panic error is appearing on boot up: "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Restart Button." This screen appears on the blue window just after the grey apple screen has disappeared and does not get as far as the desktop at the same point each time. We have tried to reinstall mac OS from the original install disk but holding the "C" Key or the "Option" Key down on restart doesn't boot from disc. Is there a way you can view the Kernel Panic log before you boot into Mac OS so we can try and pin point the source of this problem. I'm wondering if this could have been the result of the shipping that has caused some hardware to come loose.

Sep 13, 2009I recently acquired a Mac when I noticed my neighbor was selling a G5 iMac (PowerPC) for 10 dollars. I got OS X Tiger installed and everything seemed to be going normal except for one thing. When I first turn on the computer after a while of not using it the screen goes static and it's impossible to use. At first I can't even get past yaboot without it freezing. I noticed that after about 5 restarts I can load OS X but parts of the screen still flicker for a couple more minutes. If I boot up and leave the computer at the yaboot screen for 10 minutes and then restart everything works just fine.
I have a feeling this is a faulty power supply but I wanted some other opinions before I go order a replacement.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: For PDF Documents The "archive As" Button Do Not Appear But Only The "active" Button?
May 4, 2012My "achive as" button do not appear when im trying to save a scanned PDF document but only the "achive" button. I have tried seraching the internet for answer but without any result. A solution to the prblem is to press doublicate and then "archive" then i get the option to save in a specific loaction (notice that even after doublicating i don't get the option to archvie as).
-The problem also appears on exsisting pdf document and documents from other users.
- i open it in apple standard preview program
- The problem appaered 6 months ago after and general apple software upgrade.
- I don't have any "download" folder in my finder menu ( I don't know if this is a relevant information but could have somthing to do with the settings i.e. as administor even though it is my own mac).

MacBook Air :: Why Is There An Eject Button
Nov 4, 2010I've been accustomed to pressing the volume up button as the second to last key in the top row, but with the new MBA, there is an eject button replacing it. Why is there even an eject button if there is no built in CD Drive. Yes, some ppl use the superdrive, but i dont see how the rest of us need that button. Apple is trying to emphasize the lack of importance of the CD Drive itself, so why are they still adding this nonessential key?

I have a problem with a "q" button on my 2.4 Alu Makbook. If I press (normal gentle) the button several times near the left edge, the right edge of the button would pop out.
To put it back in I would have to push the button hard until a little click.
I took the button out completely and there is nothing wrong with it visually. Reattached and it still keeps popping out.
The fanny thing is that I only use macbook connected to the external monitor and keyboard so I really used a built in keyboard one or two times.
Has anyone had anything like that? Is there a way to fix it? Should I take to Apple Store?
MacBook Pro :: Something Got Underneath My Trackpad Button?
Sep 10, 2010This is an early 2008 MBP, so I have a button separate from the track pad. For the last several days it has been most of the time clicking twice when I press it. The first one doesnt do anything, the second one actually clicks (that is, if I dont push it all the way down it clicks the first time and doesnt do anything, if i push it harder, it clicks the second time).
What can I do about this?

In other news, I spilled coke (the soda) on my macbook keyboard/trackpad. I put it on the floor because I thought that it would keep it cooler, since I was installing something and the fans were going *******.
The keys seem fine, but now the trackpad button has a sticky feeling and sound to it, which is very annoying/disconcerting. Is this a genius bar job, or can I get in there and clean it myself?
It's mostly cosmetic, as the trackpad still works, but I wonder what will happen as the coke starts a new life under there congealing and whatever.
