After installing the latest update for iDVD- I can't open the program! I tried the "fix" posted on the Apple site- no luck. It worked fine before the latest update.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe guys at work convinced me that I could change out my own internal superdrive and I did. Now it will read disks but it won't burn from idvd or itunes. I get the message "burning preparation error: Not enough space for encoding the remaining assets. The weird thing is since I changed out my internal superdrive my external la cie DVD burner gives me the same message when I try to burn to it.

I have a problem described by Apple in document Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) 1.8GHz models stop responding randomly.
How can I update the firmware because my G5 1.8 screen is blank? Thought that I could make my G5 1.8 as a hard disk for my MacBook, or I may try to update over the network. Is there a risk of corrupting my MacBook if I try?

The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
My macbookpro (leopard) is freezing during Macosx Update, It asks for a reboot, then the timeline stays forever in the mode "configuring setup..."... I can still access to volume control and brightness shortcuts but thats all.
the timeline is blocked. only solution is to power off manually!
I can't update leopard... Did you experiment this also?
I bought recently (this week!) an PM G4 MDD 1.25DP with radeon 9000PRO, 1.25G of RAM, combo drive and two hard drives with 200 gigas both of them. This is my first Mac! I'm realy in love with it.
The first one is:in the morning when I try to start my G4, only after 30 or 40 attempt I get it. I push the power button so many times.... I pull away the power cord in same "so many times" until the Mac "wake up". After that it's work especially fine. I can shut down and restart the Mac unexceptionally.
The second one is: when I try to update the Leopard and when they ask me to reboot, the progressing bar showed never headway. But others updating, e.g. the Itunes, proceed like a workaday.

During installation, my graphics got all screwed up. You can see a screenshot of what's going on at this link: [URL]. I'm actually writing on the defective computer, so it's hard for me to see what's in the screenshot. Here's what I did so far. I tried removing half of the RAM first, then the second half, the problem persist. I rebooted on a different system, it's still there (so not software). I tried Hardware Test utility, it says everything is fine. I unplugged the Video Card, cleaned it a little along with the connectors, nothing. It happened DURING the update to 10.4.11 (not after I rebooted). I'm pretty sure I can take screenshots of it, so it's not simply in the connectors to the monitors. It happens on both my monitors (also when I unplug one of them).

We just updated our G5s here at the lab (QuickTime and Garageband ), and now the sound output is extremely distorted and crackly regardless if its a video on cnn or a song off iTunes. Tried Zapping the PRAM and repairing permissions, even reinstalled QT from the standalone installer on apple to no avail.

I got up and tripped over the power cable and It popped out (thanks magsafe! ) but the computer immediately shut down. I plugged it back in and started it up to see my clock was messed up. I changed the clock and redid the update. Everything seems to be working now but I was just wondering if anything else could have happened?

View 11 Replies View RelatedFor some bizzare reason my Mac wont restart or update, not to sure when the problem started as I normally just put it into sleep! But basically when I click update it says the updates need the Mac to be restarted, I click ok. It basically logs out and goes to the Username screen to login. Same story when trying to restart/shutdown; just goes to the login screen.Â
I'm tempted to do a OS Wipe and start Fresh! However it's going to take 3 hours to download the latest OS! Patients isn't my strongest point !Â

After using Open Firmware Update my G4 went into a crazy circle. At first, it was impossible to start up, and when it was possible, just for a couple of seconds, and then the translucent screen asking you to restart the computer pressing for a few seconds the start up button.

I purchased a G5 in 2005. Never once used the drive for DVD. So I decided to use it today, and it doesn't work. I tried to burn a DVD that didn't work. The drive doesn't even recognize it. I did some research, I came to the conclusion that I have to update the pioneer d112 firmware. Seems simple but the pioneer update is for windows format!

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll i have ilife 09, i am trying to use iDVD but the thing is so laggy on my mac. All the updates have been done for the software - i don't have any other apps open whilst this is running with the exception of itunes. Every time i go to click on something it wants to sit there with the spinning wheel for 5 seconds before it does anything. The system was erased yesterday due to other problems that were unrelated to this. I have confirmed my Hard disk is OK same with ram. Disk permissions have been verified as OK. Anyone else experiencing this problem? i don't know if this is a 09 problem i never used idvd 08
View 7 Replies View RelatedI read where it is good to save an iDVD project as a .dmg file so that burning it again later will be faster. I have done that with a project. Now I want to burn more copies, and just wanted to ask how to do this. Do I open iDVD and burn it from there? Or can I use Toast? If so, what setting? Or can I just drag the .dmg file onto a mounted DVD? I will want it to play on a standard DVD player, and for PC users to have access to the photo files that are included. It works fine that way when I have just used iDVD to burn it.

I have created a DVD slideshow in iDVD but when I burn it to disc the quality of the images is unacceptable. I have tried different solutions from forums but the results with each thing I try don't resolve the problem.
I have created it in iMovie, Share as a quicktime movie onto my desktop, then moved this into iDVD but the results are still poor. I have also tried burning it through Roxio Toast, and a couple of other disc burning programmes. I have tried it with the images as jpeg's and tiff's on different resolutions, and I have made sure the ken burns effect is off.
I've read numerous posts here saying that its possible to use AVI files in iDVD to make a DVD, but I can't figure out how to do it. I have a series of AVI files that I want to burn to a DVD that will work on any DVD player but iDVD won't even let me preview them (I just get a blank black screen)...
I have VisualHub, but I'm not sure what to do...
I imported a HD film from my Sony HD Handycam at full HD resolution. When I want to export it to iDVD for burning, the only publishing video option is 960 by 540. How do i get it to 1920 by 1080. I want to get HD quality but on a regular DVD disc.
View 4 Replies View Relatedive been editing a movie in imovie 09 and exported it to idvd for the final touches with the menus and to burn it off,
when you click the burn icon, it says it will take between 5-6hours to do.
the video is 1hr 17mins long. does that time include the burn time which is set at x1 slowest possible.
