Software :: IDVD Not Opening - After Installing The Latest Update For IDVD
Jul 3, 2008
After installing the latest update for iDVD- I can't open the program! I tried the "fix" posted on the Apple site- no luck. It worked fine before the latest update.
I couldn't find what I was looking for in MRoogle.
The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
Well, I've shot myself in the foot again. I wanted to make a demo video (see youtube, drumagination, new drum pedal) and I wanted to use iMovie '06 on my brand new iMac (running OSX 10.5.4). I deleted iDVD '08 and brought in just iMovie '06 and iDVD '06 from an iLife '06 disk. iMovie works fine, but iDVD '06 will not open.
To make matters worse, I've lost the disks that came with the machine.
I owned a G4 with a iDVD programm. iDVD app 3.0. This programm will not run on my new laptop Lion. I managed to copy tracks of a 7 year old film. These 12 min I want to write on a CD. What do I need to do to convert iDVD into a programm to assemble my film on a CD.
I have a brand new MacbookPro, bought 2 months ago, so far so good!Yesterday I updated with the lastest update from Apple, but when it reboots, it gets stuck on the Apple Logo screen with the process-wheel.
All i have ilife 09, i am trying to use iDVD but the thing is so laggy on my mac. All the updates have been done for the software - i don't have any other apps open whilst this is running with the exception of itunes. Every time i go to click on something it wants to sit there with the spinning wheel for 5 seconds before it does anything. The system was erased yesterday due to other problems that were unrelated to this. I have confirmed my Hard disk is OK same with ram. Disk permissions have been verified as OK. Anyone else experiencing this problem? i don't know if this is a 09 problem i never used idvd 08
I read where it is good to save an iDVD project as a .dmg file so that burning it again later will be faster. I have done that with a project. Now I want to burn more copies, and just wanted to ask how to do this. Do I open iDVD and burn it from there? Or can I use Toast? If so, what setting? Or can I just drag the .dmg file onto a mounted DVD? I will want it to play on a standard DVD player, and for PC users to have access to the photo files that are included. It works fine that way when I have just used iDVD to burn it.
Is anyone having the same issues that I having I updated to 10.7.4 and no iphoto 9.3 and Aperture 3.3 isn't working. Also I can't get my idvd to play either.
I have created a DVD slideshow in iDVD but when I burn it to disc the quality of the images is unacceptable. I have tried different solutions from forums but the results with each thing I try don't resolve the problem.
I have created it in iMovie, Share as a quicktime movie onto my desktop, then moved this into iDVD but the results are still poor. I have also tried burning it through Roxio Toast, and a couple of other disc burning programmes. I have tried it with the images as jpeg's and tiff's on different resolutions, and I have made sure the ken burns effect is off.
I've read numerous posts here saying that its possible to use AVI files in iDVD to make a DVD, but I can't figure out how to do it. I have a series of AVI files that I want to burn to a DVD that will work on any DVD player but iDVD won't even let me preview them (I just get a blank black screen)...
I imported a HD film from my Sony HD Handycam at full HD resolution. When I want to export it to iDVD for burning, the only publishing video option is 960 by 540. How do i get it to 1920 by 1080. I want to get HD quality but on a regular DVD disc.
I used one step dvd in iDVD6 transfer some video from my handicam to a cd. I now want to download this to iMovie but I can't seem to do this. Do I have to convert my iDVD to an MP4 file first then download to iMovie? If not how does one carry out this transfer so that I can edit this video in iMovie.
after doing a clean erase of my hard drive i installed the application bundle from the original cd's that came with the computer. the newest idvd update available will not work with the old 6.0.3 version. do i need to do each succesive available upgrade download (there are 5 or 6 versions between the old one and the newest one) until i reach the newest version or is there a preferred method to do this?
I would like to create a slideshow with music and burn it on to a DVD, I'v read on the discussion forum that a good way is ti use iDVD, where do I find it and how do I use it to do thisn task?
I am trying to create a dvd from imovie, but it tells me that my version of idvd (very old 6.0.4) won't work with my computer and/or won't work with my operating system (I get different error messages).
So, I tried to update to the latest version, and it says I have to have idvd 7.0 to upgrade from. I can find downloads for 7.0.4 thru 7.1.2, but no 7.0. I need to make 20 DVDs today and was unaware that I had this problem.
Info: MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), can't use idvd with 10.8.5
I've done a few (well a lot) of DVDs now with iDVD using avi files on my hard disk with a view to either giving as presents or watching with the family on TV.
We do not want to hover around my laptop to watch a movie In about 90% of these iDVD created DVDs I get an error message from iDVD that there was a problem during encoding and if we try to watch them throgh the TV/DVD player then the film just stops about 75% of the way through.
I have a project already started in iDVD. When I try to add a movie to it, it says that my iMovie project can not be used yet because it hasn't been prepared for sharing. It tells me to go to iMovie - Share - Media Browser. When I do that and try to click on Share, nothing is available to be used.
i cant open idvd for some reason. it keeps freezing and i have to force quit it. what can i do? i was also wondering about just deleting it and downloading it again but where can i download it from?
i have tried opening it with an idvd project but it still freezes.
I have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?
