I'm creating a dvd of some of the motion graphics our studio has done. I have them set up to play automatically when the dvd is loaded and to play in a loop. But, if for some reason a client were to hit the menu button - how do I set it up with a button for them to be able to play the movies again?
View 3 Replies View RelatedTried but couldn't find an answer to this exact question. Here's the situation: I created a movie project in iMovie, then burned it to a DVD using iDVD. The burned DVD plays in my iMac but will not play in a DVD player. I get a Cannot play this type of disk error message. I used a DVD-R disk (Memorex). I can provide more information if needed to figure this out, but is there a simple answer as to why this would happen? The DVD player says it plays DVD-R disks. The disk works in my computer. Any ideas from the experts?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs this possible? One of the apple techs told me no. I would have to change the menu to 4:3. I have 20 year old videos that I want to play in 4:3 because anytime it stretches the top gets cut down pretty bad. Yet I would love to keep the 16:9 menu screen (theme).
Another question what is best resolution to use when sending old movies (4:3 poor quality) from iMovie to iDVD? Medium? or Large?
What sucks is when I preview my video in iDVD everything looks right. Menu is 16:9 and when it plays the videos it's 4:3 ( for some reason with grey sidebars instead of black). It's just when I burn it to dvd and play on home widescreen tvs when the problems start. The menu is chopped off on a side and the videos are being stretched.
I am making a DVD using iDVD and I am able to get music to play in the scene selections but for some reason I cannot get any music to play on the Main Menu. I have dragged and dropped music onto the main menu and when I hit the "inspector" it shows that the song I chose is indeed in there with the proper duration time and everything but the music won't play.... The music that I drag onto the scenes does play but just not on the main menu.
Interestingly enough, when I open an old iDVD project, it will play music on the main menu.
i am thinking to create a dmg file to store personal DVD video, i just want it to be mounted with default mounter and auto played with iDVD like it was a DVD disc inserted, do you guys have such expierences of doing that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 12 Videos in .mov format that I saved from .wmv format using quicktime and flip4mac. I have also tried saving them as AVI and same result.
Here's the problem, when I put them into iDVD and save as disk image to check, the videos are there, but no sound. I tried also burning them to DVD, using a maxell DVD-R 16x, and all the will come up on the dvd is the title menu. Movies will not play on my macbook or in the dvd player on TV. I tried using the .avi format but there still was no sound, and the movies were really choppy.
if i try to use iMovie, it will not even import these .mov files (doesn't let me click on them to import)
is there another format i need to export to, or change some setting to get the sound in my project, and get the movies to play have i burn them?
All the movies are approx 1hr long except one, and I was using the best performance setting putting 2 movies per dvd.
i DVD project dose not play smoothly when I put the DVD into PC's at work. It has alway worked before but now it seems the spin rate isn't keeping up. I saved it in Best mode and Professional mode and both are stop and go and jerky. It is also formated for Mac and PC

After installing the latest update for iDVD- I can't open the program! I tried the "fix" posted on the Apple site- no luck. It worked fine before the latest update.

The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
Since doing a clean install of Lion onto my system, I have not been able to play music cd's bought from the high street. My system keep ejecting them after about 20 seconds. Movie DVD's play straight away.

All i have ilife 09, i am trying to use iDVD but the thing is so laggy on my mac. All the updates have been done for the software - i don't have any other apps open whilst this is running with the exception of itunes. Every time i go to click on something it wants to sit there with the spinning wheel for 5 seconds before it does anything. The system was erased yesterday due to other problems that were unrelated to this. I have confirmed my Hard disk is OK same with ram. Disk permissions have been verified as OK. Anyone else experiencing this problem? i don't know if this is a 09 problem i never used idvd 08
View 7 Replies View RelatedI read where it is good to save an iDVD project as a .dmg file so that burning it again later will be faster. I have done that with a project. Now I want to burn more copies, and just wanted to ask how to do this. Do I open iDVD and burn it from there? Or can I use Toast? If so, what setting? Or can I just drag the .dmg file onto a mounted DVD? I will want it to play on a standard DVD player, and for PC users to have access to the photo files that are included. It works fine that way when I have just used iDVD to burn it.

I have created a DVD slideshow in iDVD but when I burn it to disc the quality of the images is unacceptable. I have tried different solutions from forums but the results with each thing I try don't resolve the problem.
I have created it in iMovie, Share as a quicktime movie onto my desktop, then moved this into iDVD but the results are still poor. I have also tried burning it through Roxio Toast, and a couple of other disc burning programmes. I have tried it with the images as jpeg's and tiff's on different resolutions, and I have made sure the ken burns effect is off.
I've read numerous posts here saying that its possible to use AVI files in iDVD to make a DVD, but I can't figure out how to do it. I have a series of AVI files that I want to burn to a DVD that will work on any DVD player but iDVD won't even let me preview them (I just get a blank black screen)...
I have VisualHub, but I'm not sure what to do...
I imported a HD film from my Sony HD Handycam at full HD resolution. When I want to export it to iDVD for burning, the only publishing video option is 960 by 540. How do i get it to 1920 by 1080. I want to get HD quality but on a regular DVD disc.
View 4 Replies View Relatedive been editing a movie in imovie 09 and exported it to idvd for the final touches with the menus and to burn it off,
when you click the burn icon, it says it will take between 5-6hours to do.
the video is 1hr 17mins long. does that time include the burn time which is set at x1 slowest possible.
I used one step dvd in iDVD6 transfer some video from my handicam to a cd. I now want to download this to iMovie but I can't seem to do this. Do I have to convert my iDVD to an MP4 file first then download to iMovie? If not how does one carry out this transfer so that I can edit this video in iMovie.
