May 23, 2012I recently downloaded adobe reader. Now I deleted but I can't open pdf in safari. It's fully loaded but can't be opened. How can I change safari pdf reader back to preview as default?

Dec 23, 2009I took my laptop in yesterday because there was dust inside the screen and they replaced the whole screen and top. However, it now pops open when I pick it up. I'm a student, so it gets carried all over the place in my backpack and I can't have it popping open all the time. It's not upside down or anything, its just when I pick it up. I am leaving to go back to school in a week and I can't drive the 1.5 hours back to the mall again. What can I do? Duct tape?
Also, if I have a campus authorized retailer, can they do repairs?

May 8, 2010I received a new iMac about 2 weeks ago, and I'd like to know how long the battery is suppose to roughly last for the keyboard and magic mouse. When I installed iStat Pro widget, it showed the battery power for my mouse, but the keyboard has never showed up. My mouse has been steadily losing battery power and is now at 28%. However, bluetooth states the power to my keyboard is 100%. This doesn't seem correct.
One other thing I've noticed in the bluetooth menu, under devices, is that the keyboard is labeled as "Apple Wireless Keyboard", while the mouse is title's my name's mouse (I.e.: "Darkroom's Mouse"). This may just nothing, but I'm assuming it's another symptom of my keyboard not being fully read by the OS.

Dec 14, 2010I currently own the latest edition of the Macbook Pro 17" that I've fully max'd out for ram after purchasing it. I use Adobe Premier CS4 for editing 1080p and 720p video. The Macbook Pro really can't keep up, making my editing hard to accomplish quickly, especially when rendering a video. It plays the video choppy when editing, which makes editing really hard to accomplish, obviously. It will do it, otherwise, with no problems, other than being slow as molasses when rendering. My question is should I get a IMac 27" fully loaded or a comparable Mac Pro, and what would be the benefits of one or the other for my application/use? I usually have PhotoShop, Premier, Mail, & Chrome open nearly all the time, and I want something that will smoothly play 1080p video when editing the movie and can render the video much quicker than my MBP.

Again, please excuse me if this is dumb...Just got a new 27" IMac. I have a Dell AIO 966. I know now there is no OEM driver. But, I thought there was a Lexmark driver model (that might show up in the OX 10 install process I could substitute, or a Generic driver. So far, no luck. And frankly, some of the things I am reading when I search are either old, old posts or too complex for me.
Is the simple answer, "get a new printer?" Or, is there a usable driver loaded into OS X? Is there a thread or post that I am missing?

Jul 12, 2010after having my imac for almost 3 yrs im having problems just after being online for 5 to 10 minutes it RESTARTS on its own and it keeps doing it unless i shut it down some days it work fine and some it don't or it will work half way through the day. went to the disk utility and did everything and it didn't find a problem so what can it be. someone mention something to be bout the POWER SUPPLY, AND ANOTHER SAY ITS PROBABLY OVER HEATING. when i put the disk in it at start up and press *D* to run that test it NEVER FINISH it restarts. also found damage files what are they?

IMac :: Waking From Sleep Or Restarting After Shut Down
Nov 15, 2009My 24in iMac is waking from sleep after about 5 seconds every time, as well as restarting itself after I shut down. This problem started early yesterday evening, and so I did the usual: resetting the SMC/PRAM/NVRAM with no luck. I checked console for messages and found lots of references to imagneto_user_agent (I'd installed iMagneto shortly before and then deleted it as it didn't seem to be working properly). With some help from another user I managed to delete all the hidden/locked folders and files connected with this app using a combination of Trash It and fiddling in Terminal.

Oct 9, 2008i've just bought my new mac pro, i'm very happy with it's performance, but there is 1 small little tiny problem, i've ordered my mac pro with wireless card, but my wireless connection is very slow , every web page i open it take minutes to open, before i had an imac, the wireless connenction was super fast, then i've sold it to my dad , but my new mac pro is very slow, mention that it's in the same room and in the same place my imac was.
i've check my bluetooth, i've send and receive some files with my bluetooth to my moblie, it was great, but when i copy files from my brothers computer it was slow and then it stucks , with my imac this never happens.i opened my mac pro to check the wireless card and i found this:-
antenna 1 was in the bluetooth card.
antenna 2 was in the upper wireless card.
antenna 3 was in the lower wireless card.
the weird thing i've found is that my speed connection it goes fast and then is goes slow then fast then slow, it's not stable, another weird thing is that my wireless speed is slow then when i press the wireless bars it goes fast then it returns slow again.this is a really lousy service from apple to make the wireless card as optional , it's really unfair i mean it is the most powerfull mac ever and wireless is not included one more question, is there a difference between the wireless card in the imac and in the mac pro?
OS X V10.7 Lion :: IMac Constantly Restarting - Screen Just Stays Black
Feb 18, 2012I have a 24inch iMac 3.06ghz and seems to be stuck restarting. It will not get to the any screen (just stays black) and constantly restarts, the chime seems to get quieter each time, after about 6 times it comes back to full volume but will not get any further in the start up process.
I restarted it myself because the screen was flickering very quickly and seemed to freeze (this is the first time I have encountered that). I had to power down by the button at the back, then restart using the power button and now won't start up. All software fully up to date. Running Lion.

IMac (Intel) :: Keeps Restarting / Finder Takes Forever To Display Files
Jun 26, 2014my work computer (Windows), but my 2012 iMac that I've had for 2 years has worked flawlessly up until recently. A few days ago it started taking forever to display files in finder. I had to keep relaunching, and it would freeze. I tried the workaround that was posted here but that didn't work either. It went away for a few days, but last night it really came back with a vengeance. The relaunch finder trick only showed the current folder, while navigating to other folders would simply show the loading icon forever.
Also, my iMac was shutdown for over an entire day yesterday, and when I turned it on the " Your computer restarted because of a problem". came up. I've never experienced this problem before, but after 3-4 tries it finally logged in to the Home screen. This is when I noticed the above (finder problems) returning from a few days ago after being absent. The finder issues continued, so I restarted the mac, and it just kept cycling over and over (reboot, try to load, auto-reboot, etc.).
Is this an issue with the HDD? I did a disk utility check the other day and it said everything was in great shape.
Power Mac :: Can G5 Be Connected To A Wireless Modem
Mar 23, 2012I want to keep an old PowerMac G5 just for browsing the internet, etc. and I am about ready to install a wireless modem. Can I still purchase an AirPort card or Bluetooth capabilities to connect this computer wirelessly (and how complicated is this!), or will I still need to use an Ethernet connection to the modem?

My Mac Geek buddy suggested I install a new hard drive (as it's only got its original 20gb hard drive) as it may increase the speed. Does this sound feasable? The Hard drive isn't full and the mac will only be used for net use as I've given it to me Mum.

Oct 11, 2006I have a Linksys wireless router set up (WRT54G) and my PC desktop and laptop connect fine to the internet with wire and wireless. I installed an airport card in our Power Mac G4 but this cannot detect my wireless network. I have it connected now with an ethernet cable running through the kitchen but want to get rid of the cable.
Is there a compatibility issue with airport and a Linksys wireless network? The Mac recognizes the airport card so I hope that means that it is good. (I got it from eBay used) This Mac is the farthest away from the router so I guess my next try is to see if I can move the router a little bit closer.
I am a newbie to wireless so possibly I have a setting wrong. I did tell the router the mac addresses of all of the computers that I want to connect.
Any advice?

Mar 15, 2009Sorry to mention the 'W' word, but wondering if anyone has had this issue.
Basically Apple wireless keyboard works perfectly in Windows, but the Bluetooth power management kills it after just a few seconds, which is extremely irritating. It works after you've 'woken it up' again though.
I can't find anywhere to change this, and no joy with a forum search / Google.

Nov 1, 2008I have a Macbook Pro running Leopard 10.5.5 purchased in early October 2008. for a few days I could get onto free wireless networks with Airport, however starting 2 weeks ago I cannot. there's no problem establishing an IP address. steps taken: talked to Applecare who told me I need new wireless card and told me to bring into apple store. apple store yesterday they told me it was a problem with the "preferred locations" function clogging things up so they cleared my cache and set everything to "automatic," unchecked box that says remember networks, and of course it worked fine. this morning it doesn't. once again I cannot get onto an open wireless network. also a new detail is that now when I connect my ethernet cable after trying Airport first I cannot connect, I need to restart computer 1st.
