View 1 RepliesMy iTunes library has apparently filled my entire iMac (according to the computer I have over 97 days' worth of music). I would like to know 1) how to properly save my iTunes library to an external hard drive and 2) how to use iTunes so that it uses the library on the external drive.

I have the latest version of iTunes, 11.4, and my iCloud music has disappeared from my library. Usually I just stream my cloud songs without downloading them, but the other day when I opened my laptop they were gone. My phone still has all my iCloud songs but my Mac doesn't, also I have "Check for Available Downloads" checked, but it didn't work.Â

I copied itunes songs from windows computer on usb, loaded them into apple mac 10.7, they played ok, until i synced the iphone, when clicking on a song, it now says cant locate, you click locate and I can see the songs in the media, but cant copy them over.
How can I get the songs into the itunes library. I looked at preferences and it is ticked to copy songs to itunes,
I have an early 2011 17" MacBook Pro which is freezing up a lot, this only seems to happen with iTunes is loaded. The machine runs perfectly when iTunes isn't running, and it'll run for a little while when it is open, but then eventually all programs will freeze, leaving only the cursor moving. That will then stop moving as well and the entire machine will stay stuck as it is - the only thing that can be done at this point is to power it off. Closing the lid has no effect - the screen stays on and the machine does not sleep.
I've tried various things to fix this based on other threads with similar issues:
- Reset SMC and PRAM
- Reinstalled iTunes
- Disabled automatic graphic card switching
- Installed all latest updates - this seems to have made the problem worse
- Stopped my iPod touch and iPhone from syncing over wifi and made sure they aren't plugged in either
- Ran AHT, no problems reported
- Repaired disk permissions
- Reinstalled Mac OS
- Left the machine in its frozen state to see if it would wake up (it didn't, even after leaving it all night)
Every time this happens, I have a look at the Console to see if any errors were logged during the crash, but it seems there aren't any - the last few lines before reboot are always different and seem to have no real pattern to them.

I currently own the latest edition of the Macbook Pro 17" that I've fully max'd out for ram after purchasing it. I use Adobe Premier CS4 for editing 1080p and 720p video. The Macbook Pro really can't keep up, making my editing hard to accomplish quickly, especially when rendering a video. It plays the video choppy when editing, which makes editing really hard to accomplish, obviously. It will do it, otherwise, with no problems, other than being slow as molasses when rendering. My question is should I get a IMac 27" fully loaded or a comparable Mac Pro, and what would be the benefits of one or the other for my application/use? I usually have PhotoShop, Premier, Mail, & Chrome open nearly all the time, and I want something that will smoothly play 1080p video when editing the movie and can render the video much quicker than my MBP.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm an IMac newbie, so please excuse me if this is "old" information. However, I've done a lot of searching and can't find a "simple" solution. Maybe there isn't one. Again, please excuse me if this is dumb...Just got a new 27" IMac. I have a Dell AIO 966. I know now there is no OEM driver. But, I thought there was a Lexmark driver model (that might show up in the OX 10 install process I could substitute, or a Generic driver. So far, no luck. And frankly, some of the things I am reading when I search are either old, old posts or too complex for me.
Is the simple answer, "get a new printer?" Or, is there a usable driver loaded into OS X? Is there a thread or post that I am missing?
i loaded wireless software onto my i mac and after restarting it wont open up to the desk top the timer just goes round and round.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a 300+ gig iTunes library stored on an external HD. My G4 Powerbook plays from that library all the time. I just got a new iMac, and want to use the same library, preserving playcounts, playlists, artwork, date added, etc. I know this is possible, but I'm not sure how. The last time I moved my library from a 250G external to a 500G, I got the library all messed up, ended up with the files being there, but lost all of the data I referenced above (playlists, dates, etc). I'd like to avoid doing that again. If it matters my Powerbook runs Mac OS X, version 10.4.11, while the new iMac has Snow Leopard.

I just recently purchased a 24" imac and I am having trouble transfering my itunes library files on my new imac? View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently got a new iMac and I want to transfer my iTunes library on over. My primary rig used to be a MBP and to conserve HD space, I put my music library on an external HD. The problem is that I can't seem to get it to work. So, rather than me describing my failed attempts, let me show you where I'm at. The first pic is Steve(my user name)>Music>iTunes on my iMac. As you can see, a few of my folders have populated but obviously everything is not there. Also, for instance, the song Twilight of the Thunder Gods by Amon Amarth doesn't play even though the folder is in there. It *will* however play if I have my external HD plugged in because it locates the song on said device. The second picture is that of the same folder on my external HD. As you can see, all of my song folders are there. I currently have my iTunes Media folder location set to Users>Steve?Music/iTunes.

I'm getting my new iMac today and i have an itunes library on my current macbook(2006, 10.4.11), and i was hoping to move it to the iMac. The files are stored on my external HDD. I can't use the migration assistant because i don't have any firewire cables either. I was also hoping to keep all the ratings and play information ect.

Immediately the shared library appeared on my mac - This is to narrow down the issue. However when I turn on the music sharing on the MAC, it does not appear on any devices, windows, ipad etc.Yes Itunes is open and running on my iMAC.This should not be this difficult.

Have a large iTunes library on my iPhone. I want to migrate all of it to our new iMac (Intel using 10.7). I have two accounts on the iMac, mine and my wife's, which have been set up to share the music (iTunes) library. When I sync my iPhone into my account on the iMac in order to sync the music library it gives me a message that if I sync the music all the items on the iPhone will be replaced with the music library on the computer. However, there is no music library on the iMac as yet. How do I get the iPhone music on the iMac so my wife and I can share the library?

I just noticed that I cant bring up my music/tvshows/movies from my itunes library (from my mac) on my ipad. I checked all the home sharing setting on the mac and on the ipad, restarted everything, to no avail! My apple tv works fine! I recently updated my OS on the iMac to 10.7.4, would this cause the issue? I am running 5.1.1 on the ipad.

Looking for some advice as to how to find my iTunes library as I just installed iLife 08 with iTunes in the package but when I click on iTunes to load it up it comes back with this message "The file iTunes Library cannot be read because it was created with by a newer version of iTunes". Don't understand this. Now when I go into iDVD to create a new DVD and click on 'audio' I can see my old list of iTunes.
Anyone know how I could go about finding this and bringing this into the new iTunes 8 which was loaded with iLife 8. I'm almost 70 years old and not quite up to speed you might say. My problem re this is a lot of the library songs which were on iLIfe 6 version of iTunes belong to my daughter who does not have the internet so she comes over and uses mine for her iTunes downloads.
My music library is on my iMac, located in a different room of the house than my home theater system with a decent Denon receiver and good Infinity towers. I have an iPod connector to the Denon which I can use, but the iPod has a limited library of songs, so I would like to somehow access my iMac music library and be able to play it through the home theater system. Hard wiring the components is out of the question due to length of run through several rooms of the house, no basement and cathedral ceilings. I already have my iMac and my Panasonic Blu-Ray player both connected to my wi-fi, and it seems there should be a way to connect both of them using the wi-fi. The blu-ray player is DLNA, but the Mac isn't, so that is out of the question. Is there any other way to get these components to talk to each other over wi-fi?
