Running latest Mavericks on my late 2007 iMac. Recently had to do a Time Machine recovery and since my machine randomly restarts by itself when left unattended. While monitoring Console the following message keeps repeating and suspect it is the root of the problem.....
6/26/14 5:04:46.570 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[225]: (com.hp.help.tocgenerator) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
6/26/14 5:04:47.607 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[225]: (com.hp.help.tocgenerator) Throttling respawn: Will start in 9 seconds
What this means and what would be causing ?
after I update and restart, it will keep on restarting. Now I can get to my desktop but I can't dont do anything. If I click on safari, finder etc, it will just restart.

View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I downloaded the MacOSXUpdCombo 10.7.4 from the apple website. I opened it up and it got to about half way through installation before a grey hue dropped down on my screen and a message appeared "Your computer needs to restart". After restarting, I got a error message saying that my computer had to shut down due to issues and to submit a bug report to apple. I decided to give it another go and the exact same thing happened

mavericks 10.9.4 update from 10.9.1 does not work on 2011 imac

Up until about a month ago I never had a problem with my 2011 MB pro. Then it started randomly shutting down and not starting back up when I plugged anything into the usb slot. I looked online and found that the solution was to unplug the battery connecter to the motherboard and plug it back in. And it worked! I had to do that a couple times and the problem seemed to go away until yesterday.
It just randomly shut itself down without plugging anything into the usb slot so I opened it up and did it again. Once it turned back on it started acting funny...just a flashing globe on the grey screen. After awhile I finally got it to start up slowly into my actual system. It seemed fine for the most part but a few things were kinda funny. The screen would randomly dim itself all the way like I was manually doing it and trying to use the backlit keyboard buttons would also dim the screen all the way. Plus it was still rebooting into that globe which would take forever to start up to my desktop. I tried to use disc utilities to repair and check for errors but it wasn't finding any errors.
Finally I decided to back everything up and just do a fresh mavericks install. It ended up getting stuck on the install...which I believe is because I forgot to erase the disc first. So I rebooted to safe mode and erased it, then tried another install. When I came back to it an hour later all it was doing was booting to the apple logo and then shutting off and restarting. Attempting to boot into safe mode was bringing up some weird script in the upper left corner before it shut back down.
I should also note that if it froze and I had to do I hard shut down using the power button I had to unplug that battery connecter to be able to turn it back on. Finally I got the recovery mode and once again the scan turned up no errors so I decided to erase and reinstall again. Lo and behold it shut itself down halfway through the erase and now all I get is a flashing folder with a question mark....cant go into recovery or anything.
How do I update iPhoto 9.2.3 to work with Mavericks OS?

Last night I updated my iMac to Mac OS X 10.9.4. Whenever I'm using my computer, it freezes up. How can I make it fast and smooth again? I have a most recent Time Machine backup before I updated. If there is a way to gain my computer's speed again? If not, can I possibly go back to 10.9.3?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to Mavericks my Mac has been running pretty slow. I run Logic Pro 9 and Ableton 8 music programs on my computer quite often and that's where i notice significant lag. I understand those are heavy programs, but even when Safari is open and I try to open Finder there is lag time before the window actually opens. When I restart my computer, it runs a little better, but as soon as I begin to open other programs, the lag begins and will continue even after I close them.
I upgraded from Snow Leopard and never had any issues- it ran extremely smooth under the most stressful conditions with all the current memory and hard drive space, cpu, etc. I

I have an extremely slow Time Machine backup. I've gone through the motions and tried to resolve the issue by doing the suggested restart in Safe Mode.I don't use Norton Symantec but I didn't the Norton Remove script through the Console already. I don't run any anti-virus software. This started when I was backing up to at Time Capsule. I backed up to the TC for years before this started. I then moved to backing up (started fresh) to a external HD connected via USB. I have a 2010 Mac Mini with OS X 10.9 (Latest Version)
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have Flash Player set to update automatically.
For the last month or so I've been getting pop up messages on my system that I have to update Flash Payer.
I click the link, download the installation dmg, double click the installer, 4/5ths of the way through it says it can't complete the operation. (I close all browsers etc. )
Google Chrome is running the latest version of Flash as it does it automatically (v14), but Safari and presumably anything else that uses Flash is running v13.
I read that it is possible by using a dongle, then I read it doesn't work.....Thought I would ask the people who might actually know if this is something that can be done. I am about to upgrade to OS X and would like to benefit from the new "handoff" feature in Yosemite.

I have had to update my email password with email provider. When I tried to update it on the iMac in the Internet Accounts section, I got a message saying "Password could not be sent to 'mail.tesco.net' securely. Mail cannot send your password securely tot he server. You can continue without a secured password, which could put your password at risk'. However, when I updated it on my iPhone it was accepted straightaway and I have no problem receiving my emails.

My 24in iMac is waking from sleep after about 5 seconds every time, as well as restarting itself after I shut down. This problem started early yesterday evening, and so I did the usual: resetting the SMC/PRAM/NVRAM with no luck. I checked console for messages and found lots of references to imagneto_user_agent (I'd installed iMagneto shortly before and then deleted it as it didn't seem to be working properly). With some help from another user I managed to delete all the hidden/locked folders and files connected with this app using a combination of Trash It and fiddling in Terminal.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently had to reformat my iMac because it was restarting constantly and it kept freezing too. After a reformat, I installed a few programs. Skype, Microsoft Office 2010, VLC, Plex Home Theatre, Plex Media Server, an uTorrent.
My computer restarted randomly again, twice :-( I included the crash report below if it is useful.

I have a 24inch iMac 3.06ghz and seems to be stuck restarting. It will not get to the any screen (just stays black) and constantly restarts, the chime seems to get quieter each time, after about 6 times it comes back to full volume but will not get any further in the start up process.
I restarted it myself because the screen was flickering very quickly and seemed to freeze (this is the first time I have encountered that). I had to power down by the button at the back, then restart using the power button and now won't start up. All software fully up to date. Running Lion.

View 13 Replies View Relatedmy work computer (Windows), but my 2012 iMac that I've had for 2 years has worked flawlessly up until recently. A few days ago it started taking forever to display files in finder. I had to keep relaunching, and it would freeze. I tried the workaround that was posted here but that didn't work either. It went away for a few days, but last night it really came back with a vengeance. The relaunch finder trick only showed the current folder, while navigating to other folders would simply show the loading icon forever.
Also, my iMac was shutdown for over an entire day yesterday, and when I turned it on the " Your computer restarted because of a problem". came up. I've never experienced this problem before, but after 3-4 tries it finally logged in to the Home screen. This is when I noticed the above (finder problems) returning from a few days ago after being absent. The finder issues continued, so I restarted the mac, and it just kept cycling over and over (reboot, try to load, auto-reboot, etc.).
Is this an issue with the HDD? I did a disk utility check the other day and it said everything was in great shape.
The MacBooks are rumored to be switching to Nehalem late this year. Do you think the iMac will be updated with them?
I can't really imagine, the Laptops being Nehalem and the iMac not.
Any thoughts?

Ever since i upgraded my OS to Mavericks, my Mac cannot find my iomega Harddrive (Wireless).
When i'm searching for the device, i can hear the iomega hard drive thinking, but not nothing happens.
A friend was downloading the mavericks update and his MBP went to sleep in the middle of it. Needless to say it now boots up in recovery mode.
I can access his Hard disk with my MBP and thunderbolt in target disk mode. with mine in target disk mode I can startup his computer with my ssd and access his drive through disk drill pro 2. it says i can rebuild his hard drive using the software but I dont know if it will format his drive. he wants pics and music off of it.

I've been trying for weeks to update my MacBook Pro to either OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 or 10.9.3 but it isn't working. When I open Software Update, it tells me that I have an update available (OS X Update Combined 10.9.3), but when I click Update and agree to restarting, it says "An error has occurred. The file couldn't be saved because you don't have permission.(513)" Additionally, the update is listed under Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days. However, when I click on About This Mac, it says that I am running 10.9.1.
I tried downloading the update from the Apple Website (OSXUpdCombo10.9.3.dmg) and after installing/restarting, when I login and click About This Mac, it still says 10.9.1.

Updated a 2008 15" MacBook Pro to Mavericks, then Apple store updated incrementally. Superdrive now ejects any disc put into it, external Plextor combo drive fails to recognize already burned media. Have reset NVRAM and SMC several times, done a re-install of 10.9.4 and tried several preferences related suggestions from web searches. Bluetooth on/off, etc. Plextor drive can be mounted by Parallels VMs (Linux Mint 14.17 and Ubuntu) and writes if owned by VM.
This issue started intermittently from Mavericks 10.9.2 and is now total at 10.9.4. Media disc's do not start iTunes post install and in case of external drive are not recognized as written media.
