I use my Mac G5 (with Mac OS X version 10.3.9) working with Final Cut pro. I found that while connecting regular types of microphones, computer do not accept them. Only certain kinds of mics could be used.I would greatly appreciate if anyone could suggest on types of microphones recommended for use with my system.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I put a CD in my Macbook Pro, it whirs around for about a minute, but then my computer just spits it back out. The CD's work in other computers I've tried them in and I've tried both new and old CD's with my computer. Nothing works.

It's a 2.16 intel Core 2 duo with the ATI Radeon X1600 128MB video and I'm running OSX 10.7.3. It started happening on Snow leopard so I thought maybe upgrading to Lion would fix it but it has continued exactly the same. I've had an issue for a while now where the computer would just freeze all of a sudden. It happened after a few days at times while sometimes it happen right after a reboot. Â
Here are the things I've tried.Â
1. I upgraded to lion
2. I replaced the ram
3. Look at the crash log but found nothing
4. Ram mem check utility but it found nothingÂ
I can boot the computer in safe mode by holding the shift key and it works perfect with no freezing but I loose audio support becuase I think it's not loading the audio drivers. Question is: Can I select what drivers I want on boot when starting in regular mode not safe mode in order to try to disable drivers until I find the issue? Is there anyplace else that I can find which driver caused the computer to freeze after a freeze/crash? If I can ID the driver is there a way to update/replace the driver if it doesn't come up in "software update"? I'm thinking it's the video driver becuase I would occationally get some weird things happening on the screen that I attributed to an older display.Â

I may need to have surgery to remove a cyst (too much typing) below the index finger on my strong hand and I am thinking of trying Voice Recognition Software for the weeks I am recovering. But alas no microphone jack. I never ever use a microphone for anything, so I don't know Is there such thing as a USB mic.

While working in Excel 2011, I encounter the error "Some chart types cannot be combined with other chart types. Please select a different chart type." I am highlighting 46 cells to create a marked line graph. There are no other charts in the file. I called Microsoft support who told me they had not heard of this problem in Excel (only in PowerPoint). I also took it to an Apple Store Genius, who was unable to solve the problem, which is understandable, given that he does not work for Microsoft. Â
I have recopied the data to a new spreadsheet, re-typed all the data to a new spreadsheet, and deleted plist files. When I sent it to a different computer (which was running Excel 2011 and Snow Leopard), I could make the figure but I cannot edit the figure or add data on my laptop.Â

But, on the receiving hand, they are not able to open it because "it's not compatible" with their computer. I have an oder G4 desktop circa 2000 that I'm trying to daisy chain to my new quad-core macbook pro.
I've tried connecting via the ethernet cable and also by running the G4 through my iomega external hard drive via firewire > my iomega drive is attached to the macbook pro.  The G4 doesn't show up on the desktop in either of these configurations.Â

I have a MBP for 27 months and something wrong with the power source recently. As my MBP is bought for working purpose as a desktop so mostly i kept my MBP connected with the AC adapter. I will let it run on battery once every month or two so as to keep my battery runs. However a couple of days ago I found the my MBP is running with the battery power instead of AC suddenly, then I let it run till 1X% and recharge my battery again.This situation keep happening recently and I needed to keep recharge my battery all the time, and what even worse is the adapter stopped charging in the middle of charging period for two times. It couldn't complete the whole charging cycle and I needed to disconnect the adapter from the socket for a minute and continue charging again.While the battery is charged, i let my MBP runs with the adapter in on as usual, however the green light will go off suddenly while the battery is still in 100% or so, I have to disconnect the adapter from the socket and plugged in again.
As I now always need to keep an eye on the battery icon and coconutBattery and I found that the percentage of the battery won't drop off before the light goes off. Is my MBP got infected or anything will lead to such case? I am just wondering if the recent software updates lead to such case as the it happened coincidentally.

So it must be my computer. My new printer is only wireless and didn't come with a USB cord. It is hooked up to my wireless network and I downloaded the software to my computer, but my computer will not recognize it at all.

I'm wondering if there is a way to tell which base station I am connecting to my network through. my setup is one timecapsule which is creating the network and it is extended by another airport express through ethernet. The network is 5ghz N only if that makes any difference. I was wondering if there is an application or some other way (terminal??) of finding out which one my computer is connecting to.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago my iBook G4 1Ghz started to have a big problem in turning it on: when I pushed the power button the fan started to whirl speedier than usual and nothing happened. The monitor stayed turned off and the startup "Boeing" did not sound. I tried to reset the PMU and the PRAM several times and the iBook finally turned on (I still don't know why!). I did a hardware test and no problems were detected.
Then, I connected my connection Ethernet cable and the computer crashed down. Now I am in the same situation that I've just described: I can't turn the computer on anymore and the fan starts wheeling. I also showed this problem to a local Apple center and they told me that the motherboard is dead. I am still not convinced, because one time I have been able to restart the iBook. Is the motherboard really broken?
I have three Macs and one PC. The WDTV has no problems accessing the Mac and PC that does not have Vuze installed. However, it can not access my Macbook Pro where Vuze is installed. I've talked to support teams at both Western Digital and Apple, and they said that everything was correct set-up at my end.
I'm suspecting that Vuze because:
Vuze clearly has affected how the Macbook Pro broadcast itself on my network. The PC, with Windows 7, sees the Macbook Pro as "Vuze on Vuze", not as "MacBook Pro", which is the name I have given the computer. The Macs sees it correctly as "Macbook Pro". Also, the WDTV sees the Macbook Pro as "VUZE", but when I try to connect, it says "The Media Server can not be accessed". I'm using the "Network Shares" feature on the WDTV and not the "Media Server" feature. I have also turned off the "UPnP" plugin under Media Servers in Vuze Preferences, but it didn't make a difference. Also, my Macbook Pro has three partitions with 10.6.2 installed. On the only partition that does not have Vuze installed, the WDTV can access it. So clearly something is up with Vuze.
This just started happening today. I have little snitch monitoring the network activity and it's generally quite calm, however now it's going crazy with incoming connections from other students (I'm on a university campus) and iphones of all sorts.
View 12 Replies View Relatedso the other day i opened my computer and it wouldn't connect to the internet. it had been working fine before that and nothing had changed, it just stopped connecting. I have full signal and can connect to the network, but my internet signal on the top bar has an exclamation point and says "Alert: no internet connection." My roommates can both connect with their computers so i dont know the problem! i've looked for solutions on other forums and havet tried deleting "airport" as a source and then re-adding it, deleting the system configuration folder, renewing the DHCP lease, nothing works.

If I'm away from my computer for awhile, it goes to sleep and won't wake up. Hitting Return or other keys won't help; nor does pushing the Start button on the back. The only solution I've found is to unplug the computer, re-plug, then start again.

I'm curious what is the best way to supply power to my new Mac Pro and monitors. I am currently running an 8-core Mac Pro with two 24" LCDs, external hard drive, Logitech 5.1 speakers, and a couple desk lights from one Belkin surge protector (this one: [URL]. I never really thought about it until now but is this too much to be running from one surge protector? I'm guessing the Mac Pro alone takes a lot of juice and after having some weird graphical errors, I read people mention that bad PSUs can display these problems so I was wondering if maybe there's not enough power available from a single outlet like that. I could be way off here, but I'd still love to hear how everyone has setup of their equipment in order to both supply power and protect your investment.

The 40 GB failed and the 60 GB was diagnosed as failing so I purchased used Seagate 160 GB ATA/100 Hard driveÂ
I installed the new 160 GB Hard drive in place of the 40 GB HD and used SuperDuper to clone the still working 60 GB drive. The files were all copied to the drive and the drive showed up on the desktop as a hard drive icon, and it was recognized in the System Profiler. However, I could not select it as the startup drive from the System Prefs window.Â
I then took out the 60GB drive and replaced it with the 160 GB drive jumpered as cable select and now the computer won't start up (flashing question mark).Â

I've got a dual G5 running Panther and I put it to sleep when I go to work in the morning. Last night, I wanted to try out Tiger (yes, I know - I'm way behind the times) so I installed it on a FireWire drive and booted off it for a couple of hours to see how things worked. I then went back to my internal Panther drive, and everything is ok except for one thing: when I hit "sleep", it goes to sleep, the screens turn off, and then for some reason I immediately hear the internal drives spin back up and the thing turns on again! Why can't it stay asleep?

I have brought the 21,5" iMac 1 week ago. I just chosed the preconfigured model.
But i have had some problems with it.When the computer has been to sleep for some hours, it wont wake up with click on keyboard or on the mouse. I will have to use the powerbutton, where the computer then comes with a error, but it starts up.
Out of the blue I keep getting a kernel panic (You must restart computer) while using my G4. All I use it for is word processing and internet browsing. Seems to happen when switching between windows.Here is my most recent crash log reports:Â
