We updated two systems to 10.7.4 over the weekend. Now, when we receive QT files via email that were converted using Apple Compressor, we get a message within the mail message that reads "Missing Plug-in". Â
Also, these files are not usable within Logic Pro 9. They cause severe issues with Logic. Files are unplayable, and/or cause the arrange window to change to a light-grey. We have a workaround for the moment that involves re-exporting the offending files in Quicktime Player 7 (using my old QT Pro Plug-in). That allows us to use in Logic.Â
Strangely, another video editor sends us files that DO work. Files that did not go through compressor, but instead were mastered with MPEG Streamclip work just fine! Anybody else experiencing this or similar things? Any solution availble or in the works?

Which, if any, of the video editors make use of all eight cores of the Mac Pro? I haven't tried the pro apps yet, but CPU utilization for iMovieHD was only about 200% on the one project I have done on my new 2.8 Octo. It seems like this would be widely-known information, but I was unable to find it on Apple's site, and my extensive search of this forum was unavailing.

I would also like a very fast load time for my apps such as photoshop and final cut. I am considering SSD drive for fast load of my apps. I would put the OS and all apps on the SSD. I would get a second drive, the fast Momentus XT from Seagate, and install it where the DVD drive is currently located. I would use the second drive for all data such as photos and video. This would give me fast write speeds for encoding and transferring video and photos from the camera to the MBP.

I just got a third monitor and need another video card for my 08 MP. I really want to get the 3870 but here's the questions. How do two separate video cards work? Will the two monitors hooked up to the 3870 look good while the lone display on the 2600 look like crap? My background is mainly final cut pro, with a sprinkle of Color (with MXO and yes i know only one card will work) and motion. So should I just save my pennies and get the 2600? Will a 1080p panel and a 1680*1050 be too taxing on it

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my MacBook Pro, when I try to open .3gp videos taken with my phone in Quicktime in OS 10.6.2, the audio works but the video is just a bunch of garbled black and green blocks. I can open them no problem on my mom's 2 year old MacBook running 10.5.8 and can even open them in Quicktime on Windows. My brother also has a similarly configured MacBook Pro to me, running 10.6.2 and the same thing happens for him. The videos will open just fine in VLC. The video portion of the .3gps is H.264 and the audio I believe is mpeg-2. Also within iMovie I can select to import the .3gp files, but when it is supposedly done importing, nothing is there. A "New Event" exists, but there's nothing in it.

I have got a .mov file (1GB) that looks fabulous when I watch it in the Quicktime player. But when I drag it into iMovie, the quality is terrible.
At first I figured this was just because iMovie displays lower quality for editing and that the original quality would be preserved when I bring it back into Quicktime. But the quality is just as bad after compression.
No matter what I do, the final Quicktime video is atrocious. When I compress it from iMovie, I�m choosing the highest quality setting to bring it into .dv format. In .dv format, the file is still very heavy, but it looks terrible. If iMovie preserved the quality (whether we see it or not), shouldn�t it be visible in .dv?
I also tried exporting the .dv into mpg-4 and plenty other formats (thinking .dv may still be �hiding� the true quality) but that doesn�t work either. Im still on an iBook G4 (PowerPC) running Mac OS X v10.4.11 and QuickTime Pro v7.4.5.
I have an early 09 mini, and have a problem with skype. I have a new logitec c500 webcamera that works with my pc. The skype account works with my first gen black macbook, but on the newer mini I can see myself but the audio does not work. The cam connects to one of the usb ports and I've configured sounds to "unrecognized usb sound device" that came up after I plugged the camera in the mini, but on the "test calls" I still can't hear myself. The skype for mac is a beta, but others seem to do ok.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi watch tv through a website called tvunetworks which requires the installation of a video plugin, i have been using it for a while and have had no problems until today.Im not particularly tech savvy but had the bright idea of upgrading to snow leopard without doing any research and instantly, my plugins do not work any more.
I have tried reinstalling the plugin, but no matter what i do the player still shows up as a question mark and safari prompts me to install the plugin. I have also tried reverting safari to 32 bit but the browser just crashes when i load videos.
After a while I got a "kernel panic" after normal graphic-work. What can I do. When I want to watch a video, there is no way to do that!

I've got a 27" iMac quad-core i7 running Lion and a Sony VPL-CX5 video projector. The projector is no longer support by Sony and Lion doesn't have an included driver to make it recognize the projector as a display device. I'm trying to find some sort of adaptor that the iMac will recognize as a display that will send a video or s-video (or even vga) signal to the projector. Â

I'm just watching videos on Youtube in HD, and Hulu. I'm even noticing when I'm typing quickly the computer lags behind at times and almost stutters. My iMac is 2.4 ghz with 4 mb of ram and I haven't had this problem before.

View 4 Replies View RelatedLove the idea of the big screen, but I'm wondering if the massive bump in resolution will completely spoil lower quality video files, and whether or not I'll be able to really use all that space for full screen video without massive degradation in picture quality. I'm planning to use the iMac as a second TV, and when I bought my HDTV one of my main concerns was its ability to upscale SD content. It can satisfactorily display pretty much anything I throw at it, while many of my friends' TVs display lower quality SD material as an unwatchable mess. The iMac should be able to handle far more complex upscaling algorithms, but does Snow Leopard actually provide upscaling out of the box when I stretch a video I'm watching in VLC? If so, how well does the 27" screen upscale low-res content? Do YouTube videos or low quality video files become unwatchable on a screen with such high resolution? Do they look significantly worse than they would on, say, the 1280x800 screen I'm using now? I don't want to be forced to watch sub-HD content in a tiny little window relative to the size of the screen if I can help it.
Might I be better off with a 21.5" iMac with lower resolution, which ought to be slightly more forgiving with full screen SD content? I know there are plenty of uses for the 27" screen beyond video playback, and I'm not knocking the machine at all. Just trying to buy something that will best serve my own specific needs.
First i want to apologize for my bad english. Soon i will buy an iMac - the 21,5' version. I nave an old 29 CRT Samsung TV with S - video input, scart input and RCA input. My idea was to connect the iMac with the TV through the S - video input by using the apple's video adapters Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and Apple DVI to Video Adapter. But when i saw the pictures of these adapters i saw that my idea is impossible, because the connection between them is impossible because of the 4 additional pins in one of the adapters - Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. My question is how can i connect my TV with the iMac through the s - video port on my TV?

i've used seashore, pixelmator, and pixel 1.0, and i was wondering if there was some other app that was free and has the same functions as pixelmator. my one quip with seashore was that it couldn't resize images to specifications. (or maybe i never found out how to)
i enjoyed pixelmator except for the fact it was a 30 day trial and had a watermark stamped across it.
