I currently use iMovie version 6 to put low pixel rate (e.g. 480 x 360) clips together. I was wondering if FCP or some other app is much faster. I don't do much editing. Mostly just assemble chunks and render them into movies.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a multicam clip and when I open it in the Angle Editor, I can't move any of the clips. They just snap back to where they were. For whatever reason, FCP X really fudged up the "auto" syncing of these clips and I have to move them around and sync manually.
What's the secret? I can press , and . to nudge left and right but grabbing them and dragging them down the timeline isn't working.
I am a Video editor and already have the FCP suite and CS5 master suite. Is there anything else I would need? If not ...What would be the Top 10 must have apps for a Mac Book Pro i7?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter you have downloaded say 10 movie clips from a video camera into I- Movie, is there a way to connect 2 or more of the clips and make it into one clip? When making movies every time you pause the video camera it creates a different clip. If you pause it 15 times at the same event you download 15 clips which in turn you have to create a button for each clip in I- DVD. I would like to combine some of them to somewhat fewer.

I don't know if it can be done with iMovie, but I've seen videos people have made by piecing together different scenes from movies, sometimes adding music... that sort of thing.
If iMovie can't do it, is there another program I can use? And if iMovie can, is it pretty simple to do a project like that?
I have iLife '06, I think. It's either '06 or '07. I also have Flash and Powerpoint. I don't know if those could work.

I have recently started learning to how to use FCE. I've got quite far with my first project and am at the point where I want to move some clips around the timeline. I do want to move clips inbetween other clips, rearranging their order, not deleting them. But whenever I drag a clip to fit splice in between two other clips, it just deletes whats underneath.

I am a long-time MacPro user. I mostly use the MP for PhotoShop/LightRoom but occasional I will use Premier and Maya for Video editing and 3D work. I was wondering if the new MacBook Pro is powerful enough to handle these tasks. Also with the inclusion of ThunderBolt I was hoping I might have the ability to add on fast external storage and even the ability to option boot other OS's running from and external. Also... how does one hard connect to the network with no ethernet connector... and will I be able to connect up my trusty 23" cinema display?

So ive been having alot of trouble with rendering a 6 minute video on Final Cut Pro X.
I go to file, share, and use HD 1080p, the video gets about 25% through when this error comes ups:
and then when i click on 'details' this comes up:
Ive looked up this problem and I cannot find a solution, I've tried doing whatever i can think of like copy and pasting it all into a different project and trying that, creating a new event and pasting it into a project there, ive tried turning off App Nap too.
Also, all throughout editing this actual video i kept running out of disk space and alot of errors would come up, so when this error came up i thought it might be that and i deleted alot of things i didnt need and cleared out my trash but it hasnt made a difference.

Im thinking about getting a mbp 13" and i was wondering how well it edits and renders 1080p video. i currently edit and render on my 2007 mb and it takes 3 hours just for the render, plus it freezes for a few seconds here and there scrolling through the video. so we will say 4 hours total 1 hour to edit 7 min clip and 3 hours or more to render it. what my question is does anyone out there edit and render 1080p video with there 9400m and if so about how long does it take. and how long the video was that you rendered. the reason im asking only about 1080p is that my mb can work fine with 720p and it has the igpu for intel the x3100. also i mainly shoot in 1080p/60 frames per sec.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to tag a movie encoded with 0.9.4 x86_64 with any program it does not work. For a while MetaX would corrupt the file. Through searching I found that if I checked the 'Large file size 64bit' check box it would play the video, but no audio. If I open the .m4v file in VLC everything works fine, audio and video. I tried Vindalin (or whatever) and iFlicks with the same results. Actually when I ran the script with iFlicks it didn't add the album art of anything in iTunes, but same story...video, but no audio. 95% of the movies I have are encoded with Handbrake and from what I have searched this seems to be the common link.

I purchased a Mac Mini (2.0ghz, 1GB RAM, base model) and it's taking forever to render my 1.8gb clip. I think total render time with some music is about 1.5 hours as opposed to my old computer (a 2.4ghz penryn mbp, 2gb ram) which would do it in maybe 10 minutes I'd assume. My question to you all is, is my unit defective? Will upping the ram increase the clock speed or am I way in over my head purchasing this unit?

View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently I decided it'd be fun to put together a movie and while I've slowly been getting used to IMovie HD (first time using it 'properly'), I still haven't been able to "master" it yet. I was wondering whether it's possible to resize some of the clips I have? Some of the clips are different sizes and my intention is to publish the movie on something like YouTube or similar. I don't know if YouTube does this automatically? I don't remember it like that.
I don't want to have varying sizes of the clips when I send it to my friends, either, so. Can I resize the clips so they're all the same size? Can I do that in iMovie HD, or anything else on my Mac? Or do I have to download another piece of software to do this? Also, I'm not looking to spend any money on a professional editing program so please bear that in mind. The movies are in Quicktime MPEG-4 format if that's helpful.

I'm purchasing a Macbook Pro and I will be using it primarily for video and photo editing. I will need strong hd write performance for video encoding. I would also like a very fast load time for my apps such as photoshop and final cut. I am considering SSD drive for fast load of my apps. I would put the OS and all apps on the SSD. I would get a second drive, the fast Momentus XT from Seagate, and install it where the DVD drive is currently located. I would use the second drive for all data such as photos and video. This would give me fast write speeds for encoding and transferring video and photos from the camera to the MBP.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a rather old version of iMovie (iMovie 3, actually) and this old dinosaur is having trouble uploading some clips I took of my screen using the trial version of Screen Record 2. I used it once before (Same program, same file format and everything!) and it worked fine, but now all of the sudden it won't accept the files.

The movie also works fine in Quicktime player.
We updated two systems to 10.7.4 over the weekend. Now, when we receive QT files via email that were converted using Apple Compressor, we get a message within the mail message that reads "Missing Plug-in".
Also, these files are not usable within Logic Pro 9. They cause severe issues with Logic. Files are unplayable, and/or cause the arrange window to change to a light-grey. We have a workaround for the moment that involves re-exporting the offending files in Quicktime Player 7 (using my old QT Pro Plug-in). That allows us to use in Logic.
Strangely, another video editor sends us files that DO work. Files that did not go through compressor, but instead were mastered with MPEG Streamclip work just fine! Anybody else experiencing this or similar things? Any solution availble or in the works?

On my old mac .version 10.4.11 about 3 years old. I was able to email short videos, I've since upgraded to the new IMac version 10.6.2 snow leopard and finding that I can no longer email these short video clips? Nothing has changed as far as my internet provider, only a new Mac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to do this with VLC. I'm use the streaming wizard and the help files say to input the start and stop times in seconds. Why wouldn't I use the counter on the video? When I tried to pick a start and stop in seconds it didn't seem to have any bearing on the real time counter on the video I had just played. It did save the video, albeit in a lower quality of .mpg.
1: How do I retain full video and audio quality? (I don't care about file size, only quality.)
2: How do I save everything, for example, from minute 10 to minute 11? You'd think that would be 600 to 660 in seconds but it didn't look like that when I played it. Also the counter started at 11 hours.
i have a brand new imac and i am having some problems on a few web sites, not all websites. when i try to make the video full screen it doesn't work. for example, if i go to www.theahl.com i can't make the game highlight clips play on full screen. but if I go to www.whl.ca, i don't have a problem. They both go full screen on my husband's pc.
i made sure adobe flash player was updated..
