All the sudden today my ichat video chatting doesn't work just now. It only shows up with the audio chat. What do I do? Here's what it looks like, when I got to settings the green light turns on but no video.

I am having trouble video-chatting with iChat. I've asked for help here before and i was told to but a larger RAM so i bought a 2gig RAM. Immediately following the purchase video chatting worked very well; however, recently it has been giving me trouble. Whenever i try to video chat with somebody (mainly my brother who has the same computer, same RAM, and better bandwidth) the program tells me either that i don't have sufficient bandwidth or that my brother didn't respond to the invitation when i know for a fact that he did respond. Sometimes iChat tells me that my computer doesn't support video conferencing even though the camera works very well. The only thing that has changed since the last time that video chat worked is the room that i am in at college; the bandwidth should be exactly the same as when video chatting did work. The RAM is 2BG 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and my brother has the same kind. We both have Mac OS X 10.5.5.

I am so used to using my MBA with no noise at all. Mostly my fan is around 2000 rpm.. MBA is very quiet. However when I do video chat in skype. Fan goes as high as 5500 rpm...and I hear the fan noise. Is there anyway to video chat without the fan noise?

The company wants me to use the Chinese QQ chat client; however, for macs, you can't video chat. Does anybody know of a chat client I can use on the mac (windows messenger?) that will let me video chat with somebody using QQ? I'm afraid if I don't solve this problem, I'll be out of a job. Note: I do not have windows installed on this computer, nor do I really want to splurge the money to get it since this is a low-paying job.

If I am iming someone I don't get an sound alert to know they have sent me a message I get the number but I don't get the popping sound that you get when your iming and also in video chat and it all of a sudden stopped working. Its not the regular sound when iming its like a "pop".

I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.

I just started using iChat for the first time and now have the issue of not being able to see my buddy on video chat. My buddy states the same thing, not being able to see me. I check the "Video" tab on the tool bar, ensuring that all items (microphone, camera, etc.) were enabled, and they all were.

The first time I tried it out, I had the video conference running with one person and I just double clicked the video camera icon of another buddy online. The video window changed to both people with my video feed between and below them. I closed the conference, but now when I try it again I just get a message saying one of my buddies can't do multiperson conferencing. What's going on? I would think it was firewall settings or something, but I HAD IT WORKING! I didn't change anything either.

A friend of mine just purchased a macbook (with OS X 10.5 and I have 10.4.11) and we have been video ichatting without any problems. I picked up a macbook (10.5) for my gf and got ichat set up and running with out any problems, tested the video chat and all was good. Now all of a sudden when i try to video chat with either of them i can only see my preview window and can't see them. They however don't have any problems and can see me and their preview window. They have video chatted with each other with no problems so it only seems to be me. Is there any weird compatibility issues with ichat 3.1.9 and ichat 4? Like I said, initially there was no problems with my friend and I but now that I picked up the macbook for the gf things are all out of sorts.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a small business that requires me to communicate frequently with clients in other markets. i would like to use iChat on the AIM network to video conference with these clients. i was hoping to somehow get my wacom taboo tablet set up as well, so i could somehow draw figures and have them appear either real time or in a drag-and-drop fashion to my clients.
thus far, video conferencing works superbly but only with mac users.
video conferencing has been almost impossible with clients using pc's. i often get one of three error messages: either ichat says the client denied my request to video conference (despite their accepting the request), the request times out, or it says an unknown error occured and it asks me to report it to mapple.
in regards to the wacom taboo tablet, i have been using goggle docs as a work around of sorts, where i share permissions to a doc with my client, draw my figures in that document, and the doc refreshes every 3-5 seconds on the client end.
my set up is a macbook air revB/1.86/ssd, 24" cinema display, and a time capsule as my router (i also have a linksys i can switch to if necessary)
1) i have tried skype, and the quality was just terrible. i desperately need a fix to this yesterday, and welcome any advice.
2) any thoughts on a better way to display my tablet-drawn figures real time?
im using ichat and my friend is using aim on a pc and i want to use the video chat feature and when i send a request it says they decline it and vice versa. Anyone know how to fix this without using another program like msn or skype?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo just in the past couple days the quality of my outgoing ichat/skype video isn't good according to my friend. but the quality of her incoming video is normal/great. i got a new router yesterday, cause our old one was dying and i kept getting kicked off, but the problem still exists. 2 days ago everything was fine.
i've fiddled with the bandwidth preference in ichat and the streaming thing in system preferences-> quicktime.
So my brother and I just upgraded to SL and we decided to do a video chat to check out the new quality. The quality is nice the only problem is... there is no sound! If I initiate the video chat, he can hear me, but I can't hear him. If he initiates it, the opposite happens. Anyone else try iChat yet between 2 SL computers and have the same problem?
View 23 Replies View RelatedUsing a mid-2009 15" MBP, 3.06 GHz. iChat has been using significantly more CPU during a video chat than before the upgrade. Anyone else seeing this? I'm currently using the 9400M and not the 9600GT, but I don't think it would have any effect on this. Specifically, it uses about 100% (out of 200). Screen shot of the activity monitor is attached.
I do notice, however, that during the video chat, it is not using the iChat process AND the vcencoder process that is also used in leopard. It just uses the iChat process. I still don't think it should be using so much CPU to video chat.
When trying to do a video chat, a friend of mine continues to get the same error message with anyone who he tries to video chat with. The computer is a July 2009 MBP 15in running Leopard. The only thought is that it is wirelessly connected to the internet but with speeds around 10Mbits so that shouldn't be a problem.
