MacBook Pro :: Kernel Panic After Graphic Work - No Way To Watch Video

Mar 12, 2012

After a while I got a "kernel panic" after normal graphic-work. What can I do. When I want to watch a video, there is no way to do that!

MacBook Pro :: Kernel Panic With Graphic-Intensive Programs?

May 4, 2012

I've had numerous, yet infrequent, kernel panics with my 2010 15" MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I have a dual-core i7 model with the NVIDIA GeForge GT 300M. They always happen when I'm using a graphic-intensive program (Motion, Photoshop, and - believe it or not - when running PowerPoint presentations). They have all happened when using an external monitor or projector as well - although I rarely work without an external monitor plugged in, so it could be a coincidence on that. The maddening thing is that they don't happen all the time (well, I guess that's good) - sometimes they come at the start of the day when I'm first in a program, some come later in the day, some come when I've been using a program intensively (as in working in Photoshop for hours), and some just seem to happen right away when I first start using the program. There will be days I get multiple ones, and then not see the panics again for weeks and weeks.

MacBook :: Audio And Video Stuttering - Distortion And Kernel Panic

May 26, 2010

whenever I'm listening to music or watching a video after a while the audio will drop out, stutter, or become horribly distorted. If I pause the video or music for a second then start playing it again the output will be okay for a few seconds to a few minutes then stutter again. If I leave it stuttering the output will either eventually go back to normal or just stay stuttering or muted. Once or twice I've got a 'you need to restart your computer' kernel panic error (log attached/linked to below) and twice my computer has seemingly randomly restarted itself.

I know it's not an issue with my connection as it happens on locally stored files as well as streaming media. I know it's not a hard drive issue as I've had the problem across two different hard drives (I used the Migration Assistant to swap my stuff from one HD to another, presumably bringing across whatever causes the problem). I've had it with two sets of RAM as well. It happens whatever web browser (for streaming media) or music/video player I use for local files. If I restart the computer I get a longer period of time before the stuttering starts, and it gets more frequent the longer I leave my computer running - a RAM issue maybe? These screengrabs where taken either during or shortly after the stuttering had taken place. This top output is after a particularly bad stutter: and here is a log following a kernel panic: [URL]

MacBook Pro :: Won't Work With Kernel Panic Error / After Installation

After installing 4GB of RAM on my unibody macbook pro, I get a kernel panic error. Am I right that the problem is about CPU? Is that mean that it is dying or broken?

Mac Pro :: Compressing Video Files And Getting Kernel Panic

Nov 6, 2008

I'm averaging about 2-3 kernel panic "crashes" daily. I took my MP to the local Apple Store. They ran all of their tests and could not find a thing wrong with it. I've purchased Tech Tool Pro. The TTP diagnostics have come up with nothing. I use machine at work primarily for video editing/compression/authoring. The kernel panic(s) seem to occur when I'm outputting or compressing video files from Final Cut or Sorenson Squeeze.

Here are some of my basic machine specs:
2 x Quad Intel Xeon
5 GB 667 MHz DDR@ FB-DIMM
Video Card: ATI Radeon X1900
Serial ATA HDDs

OS X :: Won't Work With Kernel Panic (Log Included)

Feb 6, 2010

I just experienced my first kernel panic (very scary). Fortunately I could restart the MacBook without any problems. It happened while I was watching a video online. I'm running Mac OS X version 10.6.2 and I had 5 opened apps: Safari, Firefox, Mail, iTunes and iChat (all the latest versions) I would really appreciate if somebody can interpret the log so I know if my computer has a serious problem.

OS X :: Won't Work With Kernel Panic / Showing Error

Jun 2, 2009

My computer has been freezing for a while now, but today I got an error message which said "You need to restart your computer". When I logged in I got an error message which said "Mac OSX quit unexpectadly"
I've had it since 2006 and it's worked fine up until a couple of months ago.

PowerPC :: Unable To Work With Kernel Panic Error

Jan 17, 2008

I'm having problems with my powerbook freezing up and needing to be restarted. It's been concluded that when you apply pressure left of the trackpad it freezes with a kernel panic error.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed without a new logicboard? What causes the kernel panic error? Is it allways a hardware problem??

OS X :: Won't Work With Kernel Panic Report / Showing Error

Feb 23, 2008

I was having kernel panics quite often before 10.5.2, and they don't seem to have stopped even after the upgrade. Someone mentioned that it might have been the aftermarket RAM I installed (which is fully up to apple specs btw). But I noticed something on the error report that leads me to think it might be my M-Audio firewire external sound card instead. I've highlighted the spot in red.

IMac :: Won't Work With Kernel Panic And DIMM0 Error

Sep 3, 2008

I'm having crazy kernel panics on my 1GHz iMac G4, every 15 mins or so. There was a power outage and it wouldn't boot up (stuck on gray screen) so the MacGenius wiped my hard drive and reloaded 10.3.5 (yeah I had 10.3.9 - old stuff). Before the MacGenius got to it, the Hardware extended test showed no memory failures, but now the Hardware test shows: memory error detected, 2 MEM/1/4: DIMM0/J22.

I can't get the software update to run, but the kernel panics happened when I had the latest updates (for the 10.3), so I don't think thats the issue (but another issue).

I have had the computer open before so I'm comfortable with crackin it open, but if I were to pull one of the ram cards, which one is DIMM0 ?

Is the ram bad? Is this causing my kernel panics?

Software :: Won't Work With Kernel Panic Error During Installation

Jul 11, 2009

I'm in possession of a mac pro 2x 2.8ghz intel quad core running leopard. I have a main hardrive and a secondary harddrive. I was attempting to reformat the first hd and reinstall leopard. I pop in the cd as I have with many other systems, click the install startup and reboot, after about 4 minutes of waiting I see the black screen drop and it asks me to restart my comp, presumably a kernel panic error. I've done this with two different hd's to rule out it being an hd problem. I've also procured a friend's copy of leopard and the same problem occurs. The system was acquired from a local business that closed recently and sold off it's stuff which is how I came into possession of the system. It has no 3d party hardware that I can see. I find myself wondering if it is a problem with the motherboard and since the system used to be for business purposes perhaps there is some sort of block or lockout on the mobo that's preventing an installation.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Keep Getting Kernel Panic Error After TM Restore And Migration Assistant Won't Work

Feb 2, 2012

My computer broke down so I had a repaired and the original software was re-installed and it worked perfect. Whenever I restore from Time Machine, I get the kernel panic error. I have to reload the original software and it works perfect again. I tried using Migration Assistant, but it fails every time after 30 minutes of saying 1 minute left to transfer documents. I go in to Time Machine and view my external hard drive and all my stuff is still there, except I noticed my applications are crossed out. At least the non-default ones. That may just be because they're not currently loaded.

What can I do from here? I was using Lion before my computer went down. I'm now using the OSX install DVD. I also have the Snow Leopard, but haven't tried that, if it even makes a difference.

Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

MacBook :: Kernel Panic - BAD RAM?

Nov 26, 2010

For the past few days (never happened before) my apps started crashing continuously and kernel panic screen started appearing very frequently. I am still wondering what may be the cause of it, then I tested my RAM with Rember, and this log showed up:

OS X :: Macbook Kernel Panic 10.5.8?

Nov 29, 2009

I did a quick search through the forum and didn't see anything specific about this problem. It just started to occur yesterday and nothing has changed on the computer. (Nothing new installed and no external hardware plugged in.)

Basically, it just pops up with the grey screen advising to restart. Sometimes it occurs after waking from sleep, sometimes it occurs after starting up, and sometimes it occurs in the middle of a task. I haven't noticed a specific pattern.

I ran the AHT and everything passed. I also ran Rember and the memory seemed fine in the test. I reset the PRAM and VRAM and the SMC after speaking with Apple. Finally, I reinstalled the OSX clean on the machine and the panics are still occurring.

This is the last panic report from the Macbook 1,1 2.0 with 1.25 GB RAM. I'm hoping it is the RAM and not something with the logic board, but am not sure if that can be ascertained without finding replacement RAM first.

MacBook Pro :: Kernel Panic Over And Over?

May 22, 2012

My computer had problems with display, track pad, not powering up, and lots of parts were replaced in January (MacBook Pro purchased 12.31.09).  Got it home, after a while constant kernal panics.  tried everything, brought it into Apple store yesterday, ran diagnostics, hard disk repaired, seemed OK.

Shortly after I came home it happened again.  I repaired permissions, did verify disk, no problems with disk.  Updated software, including went to Java and Adobe and updated them. Nothing works.  Now the permissions note lots of problems with Remote Management (one of the updates from yesterday, 5.21) and Java (yesterday too). MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8, would like to go to Lion but don't want to until my machine is stable?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

MacBook :: Kernel Panic Upon Movement

Jan 4, 2009

I'm running a PowerBook G4 and I have recently run into some problems with kernel panic. I have bought and installed new ram, zapped the pram, and re-written the hard drive and I still have problems. The weird thing is, the computer only crashes when I move it. If I just sit still then it works fine, but if I move it from my lap to a table or something like that then I get the restart message. I have an appointment with the Geek bar tomorrow

MacBook Pro :: Kernel Panic When Booting From CD

Aug 21, 2009

I'm having a weird problem with a 15" I bought in February (2009). I can boot up fine into the OS without any problems. But when I try to boot from the reinstallation CD to do a clean install, I keep getting a kernel panic. (And yes, I do need to do a clean install.)

MacBook Pro :: Recurring The Kernel Panic?

May 8, 2012

I've been experiencing recurring kernel panics for at least a month now and I seem to have narrowed down the issue to the RAM. Now I'm just not sure whether it's corrupt kernel files associated with the RAM or the actual hardware itself. I've run the extended apple hardware test and the error message I recieve (within 5 seconds) is that the error is with the file 4MEM/1/40000000:0x84938218 I've downloaded memtest and run that within terminal. Funny thing about that is as soon as I type "memtest all" my macbook kernel panics almost immediately. Something about the "memory lock-up" phase".

Other than that my computer works fine as long as I don't run too many applications at once. Often times video streaming or opening too many tabs in a web browser will do it. And you can forget about running games that will kernel panic almost immediately. here's an example of the logs I've been getting. It's not the most recent but they all say the same thing-I've checked. Interval Since Last Panic Report:

MacBook Pro :: Keep Getting Kernel Panic Even When Everything Is Updated

Jun 5, 2012

My MacPro keeps having kernel panic (4x in a week, then none in almost 2 weeks, then comes back again today) even when everything is updated. And I recognize that I always get the kernel panic only when I visit this one website where I usually go to stream an online movie. What could be wrong with my Mac? Is there a way to stop and/or prevent future kernel panic attack?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), around 2y.o

MacBook Pro :: Kernel Panic On 2012?

Jun 14, 2012

I recently purchased a mid-2012 MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.3 GHz, non-retina) and I have been receiving Kernel Panic error messages. The screen goes black with white text in multiple languages warning me to shut down my computer and the computer freezes. I have called Apple customer service multiple times. We tried multiple things, including wipe the hard drive and reinstall OS X Lion, but I still get Kernel Panics. One thing I did notice in the "send to Apple" report is that it mentions Google Chrome. It seems whenever I do get a Kernel Panic I am using Chrome. Here are the applications I have installed (besides the default Apple ones):Coda 2Final Cut Pro XTwitterGoogle Chrome Right now, as suggested by the second Apple associate, I uninstalled Google Chrome, to see if that was the cause. She says that it could be related to that or from a software update (which I doubt considering I have yet to install any updates since I reinstalled Lion).

I've purchased my first MacBook air. This is the second crash it had in two days. The first one occured when I was watching a youtube video and the second one happened while closing Chrome (while watching a youtube video). Should I go back to the store or can I fix this myself? [code]

OS X :: Unable To Understanding Kernel Panic On Macbook?

Oct 15, 2010

I have read a million different posts, forums and most places people wouldn't want to go. This Mac is being very stubborn.

I have tried booting to safe mode, running the install disk, tried to load the utility on the install disk even tried a copy of diskwarrior (but I am not sure if it was a bootable copy).

In almost every instance the machine tries to load the cd and then spits it out and I get the restart screen. A few times I get the install to load but then it takes me to a screen that says something like startup run or install from these device after reboot, or something to that effect.

I even tried the command, option p r. If I just hit option with no disk it will list the mac hd. The machine is about 5 years old and is running osx 10.4.1?

This isnt my machine so I cant answer many questions about the OS. I was given a Snow Leopard 10.5 disk that appears to have been open.

MacBook :: Kernel Panic When Plugging In Headphones

May 28, 2009

I've noticed this happening for the past few weeks. Basically if I'm watching video on any flash website like YouTube, and I plug in headphones, I get a kernel panic. So as normal I hold the power button to shut it off. However, when I turn it back on, it will beep 2 times, then 3 times, and continue to beep until I turn it off. When I power it on again, it won't beep but it sits on the blank screen before the Apple logo shows up and basically nothing happens and my fans start to go loud. I did this about 3 times before it loaded to the Apple logo loading screen and finally booted properly. After it crashed I removed the headphones, and nothing except the magsafe charger is plugged in.

OS X :: Kernel Panic Turning On Bluetooth On MacBook

Jun 29, 2009

I have a uMB 2.4 GHZ. Bluetooth has always been fickle on this computer (jumpy mouse), but tonight when I turned bluetooth on from the menu bar as I was about to use the computer from clamshell mode hooked up to my TV, I got my first kernel panic on this MacBook.

I am curious if it is a software issue with bluetooth or hardware. Can anyone make anything from the log?
