I've just installed Lion in order to use iCloud, quite a few of my apps no longer run, I wondered if it is possible to Partition an external hard drive with the previous os along with my older apps so I can still use them?
I updated my apps a couple of days back. Now I'm not even able to use my microsoft word simple documents. I can't open my lesson plans, my homework, my kids pictures....nothing. What am I missing?
Is there way to tell which apps use Java, similiar to checking System Information? With the fury about the Flashback Trojan, I would like to turn off Java. Unfortunately, my password safe app uses Java. I would like to see how many apps I might have to replace to be Java-free.
Safari, iChat and Installer aren't working on my Mac, my Mac is version 10.7.2. Safari and Installer aren't responding, and iChat doesn't open any of the windows. I haven't tried all my other apps, but the ones I've tried clicking on have worked.
All of sudden I can no longer open two applications on the same desktop. I think I had this problem before but don't remember what the solution was. I removed all my desktops so therir is only 1. Â
Tried Show All but as soon as I select one application all others disappear.Â
I have a variety of apps in Launchpad and I have them arranged just how I like them but then I shut down my MacBook Pro at the end of the day and the next day my apps are in completely different locations. It is really quite annoying to have to rearrange them manually after I boot up my Mac.
I have had Lion since the day it came out, and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. All of the applications that I have downloaded and installed before yesterday worked perfectly. Then, out of the blue, any application that I install or update (not from the App store) refuses to launch. It either bounces forever in the dock or does nothing when it is clicked.Â
The only system changes I have made are installing Photoshop CS6 Beta and Steam. So far, I've tried:
- Permissions & Disk repair through the Lion recovery partition
- Removing and re-downloading the apps
- Running in 32-Bit modeÂ
I'm running 10.7.3, with all the latest updates installed, on a mid-2011 Macbook Pro. Restoring from a TM backup is not really a viable option currently, since my backup drive is 50 miles away and unavailable for the next week and a half
Does anyone know if there is an app, a hack or a way to pile similar apps on the dock as it is possible in Launchpad or on an iPhone? This would really save space on my Dock. Also how can we suggest such an enhancement to Apple?Â
I've been noticing with iStat Pro that out my 8GB of memory, 1.2 GB of it is Active and 1.3 GB is Wired, but when no applications are running. Not even the hidden task bar ones. Then when I start Google Chrome, my Active memory jumps up to 2.4 GB. I'm on a Macbook Pro (thunderbolt gen) with a Core i5 2.3 Ghz, 8 GB memory along with a 500 GB Hard Drive (80% full). I've had my Macbook for almost a year now, and this has become progressively worse.
how can I change my computer or account name as it appears when I purchased laptop , it identifies me by the first name on my credit card which is not the name my friend or co-wprkers know me by and is is causing coinfusion The last nmae is fine ...just need to knwo how to go back in and reset the ac count using the name that I go by
I've just upgraded to Lion and am having trouble downloading some apps (some work just fine). I originally thought it was my internet connection, but it seems stable. Also, my mac meets all of the applications requirements. The first app i'm having trouble with has been paid for, but as soon as I hit 'install', it shows up in the Launchpad for a few seconds, and the status bar doesn't progress. I then get the following error in my App store:Â The application could not be downloaded. The installation could not be started.I've installed all updates, restarted my machine a few times, also signed out and back in to App store. Still no luck.

Most of the apps that came with my Mac don't work. Mail, System Preferences, Firefox and Google Chrome all bounce for a bit in the Dock then disappear again. System Preferences sometimes appears, but as soon as I click on something it disappears again. Sometimes is appears twice in the Dock.
My mac is an old DET model, and i got in by cheating. (apple-s on startup, mount -uw /, rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone, shutdown -h now.) Could that have much to do with it? This is a multi-account system and none of these problems are experiences in other accounts made the same way. There are 2 admins and the account with probs are one of them.
is there a way to open new apps in the background?right now, when opening a new application, the system will automatically switch to the new app once it is loaded.i.e. i am woking on a word document, and while typing, i start excel from the dock.excel will take 30+ second to load/start. in the meantime i am still using word.after 30 sec, excel loads and automatically switch from word to excel even if i am in the middle of typing. is there any way to prevent the auto switch and load the new app in the background?

I do not get the Mac OS which I am have to use part of the time. I'm not hostile to it I just don't get it. I also have to use various versions of Windows in other settings. When one works with multiple applications, which for me is all day, they overlap in a jumble on the screen unless manually configured. The icon bar/dock at the bottom is sort of useless because it does not tell you, at least I do not see how, what apps are open once they stop bouncing around or, if using a program like Word, which documents are open. The only way to check what apps are open that I see is to manually cycle through apps with the keyboard, which is sort of quaint but ineffecient and annoying On one machine which has Parallels installed with Windows 7 the Windows app icons give you far more information about Windows programs than any of the Mac applications give about Mac apps.
Is it true microsoft apps are not supported by Lion? I just upgraded and now I'm getting a message my microsoft apps are no longer available. Any upgrades to bring them online?
I usually have four apps running during the day. I keep them in their separate windows.
Is there a way to open the app in it's own window? Everytime I start an an, it opens in window number 1 and then I have to move it to it's own window. I know this isn't a huge chore, but it does take time and if you do it every morning, it gets tiresome.
I am insanely annoyed and disappointed with the way Apple shook me with the notification "This app cannot be run since the PowerPC is no longer supported."I was trying to take one of those tests which we run through a CD and a full length test is programmed in a Flash or alike program. How do I do that? This is has made me think of withdrawing from Apple instruments. It makes life harder day by day.Â
I have just updated to OS X10.7.3 and now each time I start up the following apps have been added to the Dock:Â
Mission Control App Store Face TimeÂ
I don't want them in the Dock and have to delete them every time I start or restart my iMac. I have checked in Prefs and they are not listed under startup so I am at a loss as how to stop them auto loading onto the Dock.Â
I want to let my wife use my Macbook Pro until I can get her her own. But I have a lot of apps installed that she would never use and I want to make it as user friendly as possible. Â
So is there a way to hide apps on a per user basis to make it as easy as possible for her.Â

I've run into an unusual problem recently. I think it it related to two recent software installs. The problem only started after i installed the new application loader. Â
My issue : I'm unable to open application I downloaded from the web. I get the following error message below.
P.S I haven't tried rolling back the lastest softwarte installs yet. I'm hoping I can avoid that.
