Apr 30, 2012So i haven't had one single problem with my Imac for 1.5 years until Yesterday I recently recieved a SD card that i purchased off ebay and stuck it into the side which I was expecting to popup but didn't This may or may not be the reason why my Imac is acting wierd but basically I cannot Left click at ALL, right click works, the internet works
The taskbar at the bottom with the icons do not have the title shown when I hover down the bottom either. I have a 2010 Imac with 12gb ram that i upgraded to.
Is there any steps that i can follow to ensure my imac runs normally, i have alot of data on computer that i need and i cannot find my boot cd anyhwere

Jan 23, 2010If I hover my mouse over a link in Safari, it will start opening multiple tabs of that link without me clicking it until I hover off it. It also opens programs if I hover over it for about a second. This started happening this morning. It was fine last night. I didn't download any updates in that time, and didn't change any system preferences. I tried restarting my system. This happens with both my wireless mouse and the trackpad, so I figured it's a software issue. Could it be a virus? What Mac program checks for/ gets rid of viruses?

Aug 20, 2014When I hover my mouse over an application (such as Terminal) it freezes with the message 'process Termainl [pid] caught causing excessive wakeups...'
Some applications (such as Google Chrome) work fine. Others (iTerm, Terminal, Hipchat) are susceptible. If the application exhibits the behaviour - without fail, simply hovering the mouse over the application window, without clicking or giving it explicit focus, will cause it to freeze.
Prior to this, my battery had swollen and the suspicion was that it was pressing against the trackpad resulting in a constant stream of interrupts. I took the battery out and am typing this without the battery - the issue persists.
I also tried disconnecting the trackpad. Same issue, even when using an external mouse to navigate.

Sep 8, 2014When I restart my mac it comes back up saying there is another computer with this name on the network ( the name it had when it was running before restart ) It renames itself adding 1 or 2 etc going up with each restart. I can drop the numbers on the name with later restarts. ( e.g. if it renames from 1 to 2 it can be reset to no number ) The computer is not on the network when it is just starting. What is causing this and how can it be fixed?

Dec 4, 2014Since installing Yosemite (10.10.1) I cannot keep the Dock and the Banner Toolbar visible unless I move my mouse to the top or bottom of screen.
My Current settings:
>System Preferences>Dock: the 'Automatically Hide and Show the Dock' is unchecked.
Safari>View: Sdebars are all hidden; Status Bar and Favorites Bar are set to 'Show'. I am in 'Full Screen' but in the upper right corner of the screen, I have no arrows (another Support Post suggested that there should be two arrows facing each other??).

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can't Permanently Remove Icons From The Dock
May 22, 2012After having some issues with chrome (huge cache) I decided to remove it. I also removed the shortcut/icon from the dock. Every time I restart the computer I have a question mark where Crome used to be. I zapped the PRAM, repaired permissions, even restarted and went trough the permission repair process at startup. I tried to install Chrome and uninstall through a3rd party uninstaller and get the same. It does not appear in my startup applications I have no other users registered. Terminal also starts up automatically at every startup (not in startup items). It is driving me up the wall! I even removed the desktop plist. What else can be done?

My question is: How do I stop, copies of my (as I am) composing e-mail, from showing up in the mail trash. I can have as many copies in the mail trash as the number of words in my message. I have looked thru the mail, apple support (non fee based) and thru FAQ in communities.

Dec 4, 2014Initially, the trash container worked as expected: Items would go directly to the trash and stay there until I emptied it.
I don't believe I did anything to cause what it does now but I don't like it: If I move something to to trash, I am prompted to enter my password (which I really don't like) and no items are held in the trash (what I used to call the recycling bin--which I kind of liked having).
As for troubleshooting, I have changed the preference settings under "Finder" and nothing changes.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Stop Dock From Rearranging The Apps By Itself?
May 3, 2012I just received my iMac from FedEx today and got it all set up, but whenever I try to rearrange the icons on my dock, about 5-10 seconds later they just rearrange themselves randomly or sometimes go back to their previous location before I moved them myself.
I never had these problems with Snow Leopard on my last mac I found a suggestion to go to ~Library/Preferences and delete 'com.apple.preferences.plist' but I couldn't find it in that folder or anywhere on my local HD for that matter.

Jun 13, 2012Just switched to Lion and the size of the dock items are too samall I have increased their size in pref but they are still very small. Also I am missing several dock items from the right side of the dividing line and yet if i mouse over the empty space the captions of the missing icons show and some times I can select the desired action by clicking on the empty space where they previously showed.

May 1, 2010First off, I've searched the forums, but can't find an answer -- sorry if I missed something.Just got a new machine running 10.6.3 -- ugh, the dock and folders and so on look like clunky Windows junk :-(I miss my simple, elegant 10.4.11 dock ...I don't want to add novelty icons or that kind of thing, I just want a borderless dock that's semi-transparent or clear. And apparently all the apps out there to change the dock background don't work with Snow Leopard.I know CandyBar can help me with the folder icons and app icons, but as far as I can tell, not the actual dock background.

Mar 20, 2012I just upgraded to Lion, on a MacMini, and now everytime I use sleep mode, I can't wake my lion up again because key presses or mouse clicks don't work anymore. I can still move the pointer, but OS does not respond anymore to mouse clicks or keyboard. Have to power down, then start up again. Keyboard & mouse then work until the next time the lion sleeps.
This is quite annoying, as I'm an intermittent style of user who relies on sleep mode a lot.
Lion is nice when it works, but it has introduced problems I've never had before. And booting into Lion is way slower than Leopard or Snow Leopard were. At least double the time, or more.
Should mention I'm also using a Logitech denovo wireless keyboard and a Logitech M570 wireless trackball.
Connecting a standard USB keyboard and/or mouse, once the lion has gone to sleep, does not solve anything. The OS still does not respond.

Jun 2, 2012In my old version of iPhoto '08, I was able to adjust the size of the photo information dialogue box to type and view a description of a photo. We were able to write paragraphs in the photo information "description" area. In the new version of iPhoto ' 11, I can not enlarge the "Add a description" more than the two lines that are visible. Is there a way to enlarge the "Add a description" so that I can see more than two lines?

Oct 11, 2010Ok so I am new to mac and I would like to change my icons on my dock but for some reason only one pack I have downloaded so far has worked. All the other sets I've tried (3 or 4) come up with the preview icon when I try to copy them onto the default icons. Does any one know why this is happening and can somebody please tell me how to fix it?
