OS X V10.7 Lion :: Create A DVD Menu With It And No Idvd Anymore?
Apr 30, 2012
after working on 3 movies with final cut pro x i would like to put all 3 of them under a menu to start them separately. i heard that idvd was an option...but is not anymore available for lion..Â
I want my DVDs to auto start with the main menu when inserted into a DVD player.Do I do this by going to the "MAP" in iDVD, clicking on the MAIN MENU, doing a "CMD i", and ticking both "Intro" and "Outro" under the "Background" heading?
I have a widescreen movie that i'm trying to burn in idvd 7. I am aware of the tv crop area and i place my buttons and create my theme around this.
However i am curious to know how to fit the movie i am importing inside the crop area rather than have the sides clipped off. Is there i way i can do this? It seems silly that i have to deal with a cropped movie.
Any movie that I play that was burned in iDVD starts playing the movie from the beginning. What do i have to do in iDVD to get the movie to start at the menu?
I'm trying to make a disk in iDVD taking video from iMovie 9. No matter what I do the disk skips the opening menu and begins auto-play. It isn't looping because after one pass it goes back to what should be the Main Menu.
I've gone through the help screens and tried to un-do what it seems I ought to have done to make this happen on purpose.
Is this possible? One of the apple techs told me no. I would have to change the menu to 4:3. I have 20 year old videos that I want to play in 4:3 because anytime it stretches the top gets cut down pretty bad. Yet I would love to keep the 16:9 menu screen (theme).
Another question what is best resolution to use when sending old movies (4:3 poor quality) from iMovie to iDVD? Medium? or Large?
What sucks is when I preview my video in iDVD everything looks right. Menu is 16:9 and when it plays the videos it's 4:3 ( for some reason with grey sidebars instead of black). It's just when I burn it to dvd and play on home widescreen tvs when the problems start. The menu is chopped off on a side and the videos are being stretched.
Use to be able to create ringtones via Itunes on most songs I had on my play list. Can't do this anymore?Any info on how I can create my own ringtones?
I have two questions/issues with iDVD. I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to iDVD but I have checked all over the internet for the answers.
First I am using the soft frame theme and I am using all three drop zones with video filling them. When I play back the dvd in the dvd preview the video plays very choppy. It is almost frame by frame. The effects of the menu are also slow (in fact the whole preview of the dvd seems to be slow).
My second problem is that when adding background music the dvd takes the whole length of the song to loop, and in the short time is takes someone to choose a button the first drop zone is still looping.
I like to have Finder displaying as a list. It's nice. However, when I try to create a new folder, it puts it at the top-most directory displayed. Very irritating. If possible, I'd like to right-click on an already existing folder and create a folder there (instead of creating it at the top-most directory and then moving the darn thing into place, which seems overly complicated for the task that I'm trying to accomplish.) Is there a way to do this? What about left-clicking on a directory and then pressing some other keyboard/button combination and have a new folder created in there?
After installing the latest update for iDVD- I can't open the program! I tried the "fix" posted on the Apple site- no luck. It worked fine before the latest update.
I couldn't find what I was looking for in MRoogle.
The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
I am trying to create a dvd from imovie, but it tells me that my version of idvd (very old 6.0.4) won't work with my computer and/or won't work with my operating system (I get different error messages).
So, I tried to update to the latest version, and it says I have to have idvd 7.0 to upgrade from. I can find downloads for 7.0.4 thru 7.1.2, but no 7.0. I need to make 20 DVDs today and was unaware that I had this problem.
Info: MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), can't use idvd with 10.8.5
I have a Mini Server, 10.7.3. 8GB, SSD 256, use it for FCPX mostly. Just moved all datafiles to external disks and re-installed Lion, but now I cannot access my user account. When I started up the system after it had installed, it asked me for company name and email address, but then I cannot access my user account any more.
Do I need to re-install the system again, or how can I solve this? I don't remember what email address I used originally when I got the server and registered it, whether it was my personal or the business address, which I gave this time. Â
I do remember the login name and password that I have always used, but these don't work anymore and I have too many jobs pending this week.
Info: Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Server 2.0Gz 8GB SSD256
I have come to the understanding that iDVD is not available on ilife 11. Is there anyway I can download it from somewhere and what alternatives are available?
Has anyone else bought a PC that cannot burn imovie project to DVD?My circle needs disc sharing. Please advise how to complete/ finish imovie to burn a dvd.
Some weeks ago I bought a MacBook Pro Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion. Last week I had to burn a DVD but I didn´t found iDVD on my mac, I've read in some discussion forums that it is not included in this version, I'd like to give some solution or indicate me where I can download iDVD because I need it to several of my projects.
I just got a new iMac pre loaded with Lion.I had iLife 08 on my old 2008 MacBook Pro. I did a custom install with the iLife disk and only installed iDVD. It placed it in the application folder but when i try to open it i get an error message saying I cant use this version on MAC OS X. Then it says i have version 7, which i thought was the latest version. Is it possible to have idvd on this iMac?
I need to burn a DVD to play home videos in a DVD player. Since Apple killed off iDVD, I've wasted over 2 hours trying to figure out how I can create such a DVD-video. Someone suggested "Burn" but Burn only handles .avi or .mpeg files and iMovie only exports .m4v files. So any software, for movie in iMovie, exported it successfully, converted it from .m4v to .avi or .mpeghas successfully burned it to a DVD-Video, played it in a DVD-video player, to achieve this?
I am finally upgrading to icloud. I know it's been a while. So I threw in the Snow Leopard and updated it to 10.6.8 now I'm looking for Lion and all i get is that Mtn Lion is coming in July. Which is great, but I want icloud now. Where do I find Lion 10.7?Â
