View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a new iMac pre loaded with Lion.I had iLife 08 on my old 2008 MacBook Pro. I did a custom install with the iLife disk and only installed iDVD. It placed it in the application folder but when i try to open it i get an error message saying I cant use this version on MAC OS X. Then it says i have version 7, which i thought was the latest version. Is it possible to have idvd on this iMac?

For the past 10 years I made around 20 dvd from vacations, wedding and others events. Recently I decided to put them on my computer in quicktime format using handbrake. Unfortunately half of them will not work. Looks like the DVD is damaged, but I don't see any scratches.
So I tried with different softwares like mac the ripper, dvdxdvpro. But no luck, I can't extract the movie from a bad dvd.
When I put my dvd in a dvd player, some part of my movie will skip or freeze and some will play just fine
Just wonder if anybody knows a way to retrieve movie from a damaged dvd or maybe a part of the movie
I spent a huge amount of time to make those dvd and even if I have the original cassette, I wish I could have them back.
Does anyone know of a simple way to upload home movies burned to DVD into my iMac so that I can burn copies? Have quite a few personal videos on DVD that i'd like to import/upload to archive and burn additional copies of, and can't seem to figure it out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently pulled all of my old home movies from VHS's to the computer with a roxio software. I have them in iMovie '09 and have edited them and what not. Next I wish to import them into iDVD to burn them to share. First off is there a good amount of video to export at a time? because I have massive amounts. Probably 10-15 clips of about 2-3 hours of movie a piece. Also when I go to export just one clip it eventually quits on me. Is this because they are too long or too big? They do measure up to be between 10-15gb.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a movie Bolt, for my son on itunes. I am trying to write this movie to a DVD as we are going on holiday and I want to take it with me. When I go to uDVD it tells met to first go to iMovie, share, media browser. However, when I do that, the options media browser is not available to choose. Last night I was able to write the movie to the DVD by opening iDVD, choosing file, burn to DVD from movie. However, it burned the DVD with sound but no picture. Obvsiouly it is encoded or something but I cannot figure out how to get this right!
We are gonig tomorrow and I need to do this tonight! I am not very computer literate!
how to make my idvd burn dual layerd movies? I've done everything the same as I always have and it still won't do it. Do I need to buy something other than Sony discs? I'm at my whits end.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm basically trying to make a "save as" version of a project so I can change what I have without risk of losing everything I've done. But every time I save a new version of the project (and even rename it, store it on another drive, etc.), the changes I make to the new version are also made to the original.I'm also not getting the popup "duplicate project" window (which should give me a choice of where and how to save the project) I'm supposed to get when I click on "Duplicate Project." How can I simply save a fixed version of my project?Â
View 6 Replies View Relatedi cant open idvd for some reason. it keeps freezing and i have to force quit it. what can i do? i was also wondering about just deleting it and downloading it again but where can i download it from?
i have tried opening it with an idvd project but it still freezes.
I have just copied a DVD project from my G5 Powermac to G4 iBook over my Airport network. The project does not open on the iBook (I think because the project was made on iDVD v6.03, and the iBook runs, or at least ran an earlier version.) I am trying to upgrade to 6.03 but so far to no effect. Now the project will no longer open on the G5 as it puts up the following message - Project locked by other user. The project wotton is locked by the user alexrice (user ID 501): 2007-10-15 14:31:14 +0100.
The project can't be opened at this time. - I have quit iDVD on the iBook and shut it down. The user id 'alexrice' is the previous owner of the iBook. Due to pressure of work, and some useful software still on the iBook, I had not got around to reformatting the harddrive and giving it a new identity. How can I regain control of my project on the G5?
Just upgraded to leapard and My applications,(safari, idvd) wont open. They bounce but says safiri unexpectedly quit
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I went to start up iDVD today, and it won't even launch. Nothing. I click it, it just says "iDVD quit unexpectedly" every single time.

I was just in my room minding my own business and I heard my iMac "shut down" but nothing happened, and I'm still able to use it like normal as I type this message. It seemed to quiet down my fans though, they are still running but much quieter so I guess in a way its a good thing.I'm just curious as to what happened here.

In OSX 10.7.4 all sections of iWork fail to initiate and quit with an error message. Each time a message page is sent to Apple saying that the program has quit followed by pages of data. Searching discussion groups has failed to provide a conclusive answer.

how to put iDVD on an old iMac G3?
My iMac has:
576mb of RAM
10gb HD
OS X 10.0.4
I couldn't find what I was looking for in MRoogle.
The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
Everytime i try to open my 'Movies' folder within my finder, finder crashes and restarts. I can still find the files and open them by spotlight searching. Im running a Macbook Pro with with 10.7.4? Â

Purchased new iMac without being told that even though there is the share option to iDVD, there is actually no iDVD installed. Here fishy fish. Is there a way I could receive the very thing I purchased the iMac for without spending more money--after all, it is supposed to be included. Also, if all else fails, could I somehow move iDVD from my Macbook to my iMac?

I can't open almost any app on my iMac (OSX Lion 10.7.4). Every time I attempt to do so, the affected app "unexpedtely quits", showing a window (sort of expanded dialog box) with the log history, wich form a complete report wich is said to be sent to Apple. Despite that this window has a "restart" button, I haven't been able to go any further from this point, as it repeats the process again and again, impeding me to use the affected app.
This has get to a critical point, as it is afecting apps like iTunes (especifically when I turn to the iTunes Store from within te app), MacApp Store, Software Updates (I can't update anything, given this problem) and many other apps, including Aperture 3, Fusion 4, integrated Dictionary and Wikipedia, as I've been able to verify.
