I need to update a MacBookPro from OS 10.6.4 to Lion. I really don't want to loose iDVD. Will that application remain after the upgrade?

after doing a clean erase of my hard drive i installed the application bundle from the original cd's that came with the computer. the newest idvd update available will not work with the old 6.0.3 version. do i need to do each succesive available upgrade download (there are 5 or 6 versions between the old one and the newest one) until i reach the newest version or is there a preferred method to do this?

The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.2.2(3) and all of the content has disappeared from my iTunes library aside from what I've purchased from the iTunes store (this seems to be syned to the online store, which would explain it). I can still see all of the song files when I go to username/music/iTunes/Library on my hard drive and it's frustrating because I've tried to link it back to these files several times under iTunes/Preferences and it still won't update the songs in the iTunes application.Â

I just upgraded to 10.6 - and was horrified to find out when opening iTunes again, my playlists, podcasts, purchased items, etc weren't there. It's a total iTunes reboot! All my audio content is stored on an external HDD (yes, its plugged in) - though the iTunes Libraries are on my laptop.Â

I am trying to create a dvd from imovie, but it tells me that my version of idvd (very old 6.0.4) won't work with my computer and/or won't work with my operating system (I get different error messages).
So, I tried to update to the latest version, and it says I have to have idvd 7.0 to upgrade from. I can find downloads for 7.0.4 thru 7.1.2, but no 7.0. I need to make 20 DVDs today and was unaware that I had this problem.

It placed it in the application folder but when i try to open it i get an error message saying I cant use this version on MAC OS X. I need to burn a DVD to play home videos in a DVD player. Since Apple killed off iDVD, I've wasted over 2 hours trying to figure out how I can create such a DVD-video. Someone suggested "Burn" but Burn only handles .avi or .mpeg files and iMovie only exports .m4v files. So any software, for movie in iMovie, exported it successfully, converted it from .m4v to .avi or .mpeghas successfully burned it to a DVD-Video, played it in a DVD-video player, to achieve this?

I am having problems. After every restart, Lion keeps loading my menubar apps that were deleted. Also, I've made Chrome my default browser but after every restart, it asks me do I want to set it as my default browser.

after insalling Lion (10.7.3), it made a backup on time machine (approx 20 GB) and all went fine. Next backup, I noticed the message "deleting old backups" (or something like this). I though it was just some clean up after the installation... taking too much actually, a bit suspicious...So I was *horrified* when I discovered that Lion was actually deleting ALL previous backups, (say a couple of years history).I stopped in in time do save just the last month  I am incredibly disappointed ! Why in the world that could happen ??? Now I lost all my hystory.Â
The only option I have is to try some disk recovery option, but I am sure that even if I find the old file it could be impossible to restore them in the time machine backups history, which I understand is rather complex and impossible to fix "by hand" , isn't it ?Â

I have a MacPro (Intel), and I had my Music folder on a second (non-boot) internal drive. That drive was getting full, so I bought yet another internal drive to put in one of the other bays, thinking to copy the folders to the new, larger-capacity drive. So I bought a 2 Tb drive and transferred all my MOVIES to the new drive, but then went back and deleted my MUSIC folder and emptied the trash. I knew immediately that I'd made a mistake.
I haven't written anything to that drive whatsoever from that moment on, so absolutely nothing should have been over-written. I have plenty of room on the new drive to which I can recover the deleted files. Unfortunately the folder/directory was very large, with over 20,000 files, mostly of podcasts/spoken word stuff, much of which is no longer available or would represent thousands of hours of download time, plus all my digitized folk music from long out-of-print LP records.
You'd think I'd be more responsible with >600 Gb of data! However, fortunately the drive is in good working order, it just requires a good recovery strategy. I know that services that do recovery charge a fortune, and because I haven't written anything to that drive and it still mounts without problems, I'm hoping I can do this myself with a good data recovery software package. Because I am talking about literally thousands of files, it is just too painful to think about editing all the metadata about each file (name, artist, album, etc.), and ideally I would like to recover the files and the file structure so podcasts are recovered as such, etc.
Is this at all possible?
If so, what are the relative merits of File Salvage vs. Data Rescue vs. Kernel for Macintosh (Nucleus Data Recovery) vs. VirtualLab Data Recovery vs. Stellar Phoenix? Is there something better than these--these are the only ones I found on a Web search. Are there any head-to-head reviews of which someone is aware?
I installed a game called PlaneShift and now want to uninstall it. It does not appear to have an uninstaller. When I try to move the file the client is in, the client itself, or any of the other files in the folder to the trash I get a message that says this cannot be done because the file cannot be deleted. The file stays where it was and nothing happens. The file is not locked nor is the application running. I even downloaded CleanMyMac to delete it which would claim to have done the job yet the folder and everything it it would still remain. Googling it yielded some commands to put in to the terminal to delete it with the root account
