Mar 10, 2009I have been using iDVD V6.0.4 for a couple of years now and all of a sudden it won't open. I have tried opening every movie I have made with it with the same results.I have tried all of the recommendations in the help area but still get the same message.My question is this: would reinstalling only the software from the installation disk possibly solve this problem. I don't want to cause other problems with my mac by doing this.

Sep 19, 2006I've been trying for a few days now to get iDVD to save a disk image to my computer hard drive (since my Superdrive isn't here yet), but every time it'll crash at some random part of the encoding. The last time I tried it crashed within a few seconds, but last time it had encoded one of the three videos in my project before it crashed. It just "unexpectedly quits".

Applications :: Alternative To IDVD Or Different IDVD Themes?
Dec 26, 2010I couldn't find what I was looking for in MRoogle.
The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Starting And Quitting Activity Monitor Speeds Up Shutdown Time A LOT
May 28, 2012I have a 15-inch MBP (2011) 2.3 GHz, Core i7 with 8 GB of memory and a Vertex 3 MAX IOPS SSD. I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4.As you can imagine, this is one quick system. When I first installed Lion (I did a clean install on a brand new SSD when Lion came out), my shutdown time was literally under half a second. Then a few days later, as I installed my usual apps, I noticed that the shutdown time suddenly went to 20 seconds with the usual grey screen and spinning wheel. I figured that one of my programs must be causing this, but could never figure out which.After living with this for months, I decided today to use Activity Monitor to try to quit some processes to see if my shutdown time would go down. After a few tries, I noticed that just starting and quitting Activity Monitor brings my shutdown time back to half a second..
I repeated this over a dozen times. I start my system and immediately shut it down: it takes 20 seconds to shutdown. Then I start it, run Activity Monitor and then immediately quit it, then shutdown: it takes half a second to shutdown.I can obviously live with a 20-second shutdown time. I don't shutdown often anyway and the system is super fast otherwise. But it's still nice to get to the bottom of this.

Sep 10, 2014I am trying to create a dvd from imovie, but it tells me that my version of idvd (very old 6.0.4) won't work with my computer and/or won't work with my operating system (I get different error messages).
So, I tried to update to the latest version, and it says I have to have idvd 7.0 to upgrade from. I can find downloads for 7.0.4 thru 7.1.2, but no 7.0. I need to make 20 DVDs today and was unaware that I had this problem.

Jun 20, 2012I just got a new iMac pre loaded with Lion.I had iLife 08 on my old 2008 MacBook Pro. I did a custom install with the iLife disk and only installed iDVD. It placed it in the application folder but when i try to open it i get an error message saying I cant use this version on MAC OS X. Then it says i have version 7, which i thought was the latest version. Is it possible to have idvd on this iMac?

May 29, 2012I need to burn a DVD to play home videos in a DVD player. Since Apple killed off iDVD, I've wasted over 2 hours trying to figure out how I can create such a DVD-video. Someone suggested "Burn" but Burn only handles .avi or .mpeg files and iMovie only exports .m4v files. So any software, for movie in iMovie, exported it successfully, converted it from .m4v to .avi or .mpeghas successfully burned it to a DVD-Video, played it in a DVD-video player, to achieve this?

Apr 1, 2012Anybody have the 12WX working correctly with lion with no previous wacom installed? hooked it up right away with no problems on a leopard mac pro. had working windows xp on virtual machine no problems.with imac lion, would not run the install drivers from disk (PPC). so installed the latest 6.2 driver and a bamboo intuos 3 driver as recomended by wacom. installed driver for pen. the bamboo driver worked for a day or so ( with no option keys working), but had 4 point calibration unlike the two point from leopard install.now, neither are recognizing a tablet connection, only works as monitor. uninstalled. tried an older driver 6.15. ran fix disk permissions, reset pram. restarted(+++). dis and re connected. reinstalled again and again. still no luck getting it running on a new mid 2011 imac with lion.

Mar 25, 2012I have a Mini Server, 10.7.3. 8GB, SSD 256, use it for FCPX mostly. Just moved all datafiles to external disks and re-installed Lion, but now I cannot access my user account. When I started up the system after it had installed, it asked me for company name and email address, but then I cannot access my user account any more.
Do I need to re-install the system again, or how can I solve this? I don't remember what email address I used originally when I got the server and registered it, whether it was my personal or the business address, which I gave this time. Â
I do remember the login name and password that I have always used, but these don't work anymore and I have too many jobs pending this week.
