does anybody know how i can delete old addresses in my mac mail. for instance, when i type a name in the "to:" box i get a row of names appearing from which to choose from. however, i'd like to delete some of these addresses as they are no longer valid. how can i do that?

It is in the last month of warranty so if it is a hardware issue is time to go to the genius bar.

Next week I am dropping one of my email accounts and I want to delete the account in Mail. The Edit menu grays out the Delete option and right-clicking on the account does the same.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am working in an office that has numerous old email accounts on the computer from past temp employees that we keep so that I can reference their communications.  Since updating to Mavericks, when I add or delete accounts from Mail, the changes are restored when I restart mail or reboot the computer. How do I permenently delete or add a new account. I have done this serveral times on other computers, but this one isn't responding as it should. It was running Snow Leopard before the upgrade.Â

How do I send email addresses in an email? I wanted to send my family some addresses so they could email more family in an evite invitation. I'm not using my mighty mouse anymore. I use a Targus one as I have arthritis and it's scrolls much easier. I don't think that makes a difference does it? I thought it was a right click and it would highlight the address, and the person who receives it can just click on it.
I use Hotmail and Roadrunner email. I have accounts in Gmail and Yahoo as well, but rarely use them, unless one of my main ones aren't working. What do I do, or what do I have to have in order to click and high light the address? I tried sending links as well and can't get them sent so others can click on them and open it as well. I've used the insert link box and it hasn't worked. I could do this on my pc I have sitting over there collecting dust but not on my IMac.
The POP's and smtp of talk21 (a BT subsidury) does not seem to work. Their help dek is useless.

When I got my Mac, I added two email addresses (both Gmail server but different "@ portions" i.e. @gmail.com and @___.org). I've deleted the @___.org email because it didn't matter whether I sent it from one email or the other, they both end up in sent items of mny @___.org email. So even replies from my [URL] address gets sent to the other email.I've deleted the other email and I'm pretty sure I didn't link the two accounts on Gmail so I'm not sure what's happening.Â

My prob is that I have directed my gmail and my office mail address both to my mac mail. I get all the messages and my office account exists as well, but when I respond to a mail that came into my office account and I reply to it, my gmail address is seen as a sender address, not my office one. What can I do? I have already put my office email in the outgoing add. and the smtp field.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMaybe I'm a dumbass and missed something obvious, but in Leopard Mail, in the New Message window, there's a drop-down menu where you can choose which email to send the message from. But in Snow Leopard, the drop-down menu's not there, and I can't figure out how to choose which email address I want the message to be sent from. The only way I could do it is to click a message sent to that email address, then click New Message, the message will then send from that email address.
My wife and I both use Yahoo! Mail. Neither of us uses the Mail app to manage our email. How do I prevent Mail from opening when we click an email address in Safari? Is it possible to direct Safari to open a separate web browser prompting us to log in to our Yahoo! Mail?

When an email comes to me with the following looking "From" field:
From: <person@company.co.uk>
That's with greater than and less than character at the start and end of it. It messes up the reply address.
When I reply to one of these emails Mail.app sets the "To:" field to be:
"person@company.co.uk> <person@company.co.uk" <person@company.co.uk>
When it should just be:
To: person@company.co.uk
Anybody get this behaviour?
Incidentally, you can search for these kinds of simple emails in Mail.app by searching in "All Mailboxes"/"From" for:

View 3 Replies View RelatedMany records in my address book have multiple email addresses. No big deal but I wonder if there is a way to tell Address Book / Mail which address to pick as the default.Â
For example I send a litttle news email one a week to a group of contacts. I want to send this email to people's personal -- not business -- email address. I've created a group in Address Book and type that group name in my Mail to line and the group pops up. But a few of the records pick the corporate address and I have to go in and change those addresses.Â
I just tried editing one record ... I deleted both "work" and "home" addresses from a record. Then reentered them "home" first, "work" second. But when I closed the edit Address Book listed them in the original order (maybe alpha).Â

I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address. For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to john@server.example.com works.
But sending mail to john@example.com (which is what I want) returns an error:
554 554 5.7.1 <john@example.com>: Relay access denied (state 13).
For internal DNS, I have:
example.com - primary zonemail.expample.com - alias server.example.comserver.example.com - 192.168.1.2 [URL] - alias server.example.com MX record [URL]
I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.
