Ever since i installed Lion on my mid 2007 IMAC the Super Drive doesn't work

I have an old black Macbook (about 6 years old, with all of the recent downloads, etc.). I am going to get a Mac Air Book and I wanted, before I bought the Mac Air Book, to try out the external Super Drive with my old MacBook (which is working fine for burning and reading CDS and DVDS) ... I plugged in the USB cable of my brand new Super Drive to my old MacBook but when I inserted the blank CD into the slot of the external Super Drive, the CD was not taken up by the SuperDrive. It went in perhaps 95 - 98% of the way but did not "take hold" the way I suspected it would.  I know that I don't need this Super Drive for my old MacBook but I wanted to see if it would work with it .. in anticipation for getting the Mac Air Book.  Does this mean that I have a defective Super Drive ? Or does it mean that it will only work with a MacAir Book ... or what ? I am sure there are some easy answers. Or should I force the CD harder into the Super Drive ?Â

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt is from about a week that my Macbook Pro superdrive started randomly emitting Eject--like noise 2 or 3 times a day (the superdrive is empty, non cd on it)Â Â
View 14 Replies View Relatedi recently purchased a second hand iMac, everything is working fine on it apart from one wierd problem when i insert a DVD into the superdrive it decides to eject the disk by itself, and if I insert a CD it plays fine. Im on 10.7.4 (os x lion)

But today when I started my iMac he first didn't show my external hard drive so I thought maybe my hard drive is broken so I tried instead of FireWire an USB cable but that didn't work either. So I tried connecting it to another computer and it worked so the problem must be with my Mac somewhere.Â
Now my Mac goes extremely slow and when I do 'Shut down' it takes minutes to get him powered off completely. Â
Now after a few minutes my Mac sees my Hard Drive again but the Hard Drive usual Icon isn't showing and when I open it to browse through it, it goes extremely slow. It looks like he is initializing everything on my hard drive, so I can't copy or open anything that is on it because it goes so slow.Â

I'll put a CD in, the drive makes some noises, and then it just ejects. Is my drive screwed?

I am going to buy a used MacBook Pro from a friend. The internal hard drive doens't work so they have OSX running from an external hard drive. I want to replace the internal hard drive with a new one but the person I am buying it from says that the Conection between the Motherboard and hard drive is messed up. Is there a connection between the Hard drive and motherboard that I can replace?

I purchased this spring of 2011 and only used the drive to install the software. I had lots of other problems with kernel issues and was in and out of the Genius Store like a hen on an egg, but now I am trying to use the DVD drive and it doesn't work. It doesn't recognize any applications to open it, not Toast, not Disk Utility, and it has a hard time recognizing music CDs also. Not only does it not recognize it on the desktop, it simply spits the disk out. I purchased new DVD-RW and tried to write an .iso image to the DVD, and it won't work. Sad fact is that this is now past the warranty and I am stuck with this. The Mac Mini 2010 version was expensive, and the only reason I bought it was because of the drive because I didn't have one.Â

I am having issues with my Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.2
I created a nice form for my client with a submit buttom to send his clients by email so they could share their answers on the same PDF straight to his inbox, but its not really working!!! After his clients fills in the form and clicks on the submit button, an error message from Adobe Reader appears that says ¨Operation not authorize¨Â
I created this form using a Macbook Pro 10.7.3Â I tried making the form a 1000 times and nothing seems to work! I also search on the google but I couldnt find answers.Â

My friend gave me his old Apple cube G4 + 15" Cinema display in like 1000 pieces. Its completely teared apart. I tried a lot, but it doesn't work. The original IDE cable wasn't included, so I bought one for 2 cents. It should work or not? Maybe the powersupply. I'm not sure. I don't believe actually that the hardware itself, like the motherboard is broken. When everything is into place and I connect the cube to the powersupply it boots immediately. I don't have to do anything. Harddrive spins and the superdrive makes some noise as well. This repeats itself every 5 seconds. The screen is connected and gets power through DVI, but no display. Both the cube and display have touch enabled buttons to switch it on, but they do not respond (I guess).. Motherboard gives 2 light. DS1 is green, DS2 is red.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had this email account with AT&T for a few years and it has worked with Mac Mail with no difficulty for a few years. Recently the account has been able to receive messages. Every time I hit Get Mail it asks for a password. I have installed all the latest updates through Software Update. I have a Mac Mini with OS Lion. After struggling for awhile, my inbox eventually comes in. I have reset all the incoming and outgoing POP Server accounts, as well as used the Web-mail version through [URL] and it all works fine.

Ever since I installed Lion I have had a problem opening attachments to emails which are videos. Most of them I can open with VLC and a few with WMV Player, but none with Quick Time. If they are on my iPad or iPhone I can open them with VLC and send them to others. If they are on my Macbook Air I cannot send them because the email goes without the attachment.

With Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro-13" (mid 2012) I could wake my sleeping Mac by just pushing the mouse or sliding my finger on the trackpad - this is connected to an external monitor mouse is a Logitech wireless (via USB connector to the sensor).I did NOT have to push the spacebar or click the mouse to wake the Mac BUT WITH LION I DO-- I cannot simply slide the mouse a bit this doesn't cause my MBP to wake.Is this something new with LION or do I have to set something to permit easier waking?

I can't get the search funtion to work in the Help Center. I'm trying to search topics in Logic Help, But it also doesn't work for other Apple programs. My internet connection is working fine. OSX.7.4 on a unibody MacBook Pro, with Logic 9.1.7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel-based iMac which I just upgraded two days ago from Snow Leopard to Lion (10.7.4). I did an upgrade-in-place (as opposed to a fresh install) and did a software update after the installation completed. I have my computer scheduled to wake up each morning at 6 a.m. When it wakes up, the sound doesn't work unless I reboot the computer. If I open up iTunes and try to play music, there is no sound (unless I reboot). The song progress meter at the top of iTunes won't even move when I hit the play button. When I open the Sound preference and click the Output tab, I do see the Headphone port and the output volume is set all the way up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn prep for moving to the "Cloud", I downloaded Lion last night without the knowledge that my 2005 version of Office would no longer be supported. Silly me, now I need to either switch to IWORKS or something else, immediately, so I can get back to work. If I download IWORKS or LIBRE will I be able to open my OFFICE files that are already on my computer?
