May 29, 2012I am unable to open .pdf files in my Safari browser or in my Firefox browser. Firefox crashes completely. Safari just gives me a blank page. I'm unable to click on .pdf files online and view them.

Jul 2, 2010I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!

Mar 18, 2012I was not having any problems until I updated my Safari to the latest version, 5.1.4. Now I can't get into any of my MS Office applications or my HP Director. I get a message saying "____ quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically". But when I select 'Reopen' it keeps on returnng to that page which is filled with details that don't mean anything to me - lots of numbers and the repeated use of the word 'crash'. All I can do is select 'OK' which closes that box but doesn't open the apps.

Safari :: Unable To Download Files, It Instead Tries To Open The URL Associated With The File?
May 17, 2012As stated in the title, when I try to download a file from the internet, clicking on the link associated to the file will not start a download, but instead opens a new tab in my browser showing the url of the associated file. If I then right-click and choose 'Download linked file as...' the file can be downloaded with no issues in most of the cases, at least as long as the website allows right-click downloads to happen.I have tried resetting Safari, emptying the cache and, of course, updating my software. It is a midly annoying problem, but it doesn't happen when I use other web browsers in my iMac.

if i quit it, a message pops up saying " the application Safari has quit unexpectedly "
i have no other browser, so i cant post the errors or whatever.
i tried deleting the safari.plist file, tried the disk utility, tried another account, just no luck.

its been about 24 hours. need it for school.

I can access Internet Explorer, but all web pages are incomplete and jumbled; nor am I able to download anything, including trying to download Safari. Apr 13, 2012Have just downloaded "The Beatles Yellow Submarine" Free book from iTunes (It has been waiting to download for ages) But, now it is downloaded and showing under Books I find it is impossible to open/view/enjoy the book. Is it not possible to view books on my MacBook Pro? and if the answer is no, then why was it offered to me via iTunes. I do not want to use books on my iPod touch which is 1st generation anyway or even my older iPod video. Surely it must be possible to open the book on my MacBook Pro (mid-2009).

Mar 22, 2012After upgrading to Lion I see a check box at shutdown to refrain from opening web pages currently open in Safari. I did that, unchecked it, but they still open. How odd they would make this a opt out scenario - is there a way to make this permanent? I liked the old way where you could go into History and do it during a new session.
