I'm bashing my head aganist the keyboard to get this working..I switched from VMWare to Parallels just for this feature..All I want is the following:When having Outlook 2007 open in my Virtual machine in Parallels, and I click a LINK in a email, it opens in Safari on my Host machine.
View 10 RepliesI will be switching from Outlook 2007 to Office for Mac Outlook 2011 for my business email/calendar/contacts. I am pleased with Outlook 2007, but despise my PC otherwise. I will be using Microsoft Exchange as my email server. My concerns: Calendar Syncing, Accessing Archived PST files, Transitioning current mail folders.
I have a couple questions regarding this switch:
- Will Office for Mac Outlook 2011 accommodate by business needs and offer a comparable application as Office 2007 (PC version)?
- What roadblocks or issues should I be aware of when making this switch?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from my MBP to a new i5 iMac, and with the new HD space I'm now able to use some valuable disk space for a windows partition. I installed WinXP (seemed fine in Boot Camp), and began the process of installing Parallels 5. I was able to create a virtual machine, but when I try to run Parallels it goes into a "configuring your virtual machine" window (Steps 1 of 4) that just seems to run and run (ran it all last night with no progress further than about 25%).
View 1 Replies View RelatedInstalled Windows 7 to my Parallels 5.0 setup earlier tonight. Everything went well, but for some strange reason, I'm unable to allocate more than 1Gb of RAM to Windows. My Mac has 4gigs of RAM and I would ideally like to allocate 2gigs to my Windows VM (I won't be using it that often) but when I open the Memory pane of the Virtual Machine Configuration panel, I'm unable to move the slider in either direction, nor am I able to manually adjust the RAM value. Sure this can't be right.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I insert a CD or DVD into my 27" iMac (early 2012) my OSX side doesn't recognize the disk, I can't access data or eject it. However, I can access the disk and its contents thru my Windows virtual machine (Parallels) so I know the drive works. Is this a Parallels settings issue or do I need to change settings/other in my OSX systems preferences?

I'm not changing back to a Windows user, it's just that I *need* to get my contacts onto Outlook 2007 as well. My contacts in Entourage are organized nicely, with each contact's name and e-mail address. Really simple information. I then go to "Export", and choose to export the contacts to a "tab-delimited text" file (it's my only choice). Basically, I get this .txt file. I then go to my Outlook 2007, and have tried importing both "Comma Separated Values" and "Tab Separated Values" with my .txt file. Unfortunately, while each contact's name and e-mail DO get imported, the format is completely messed up. I get this "map field" window when I choose to import by Tab Separated Values, but I've tried all different combinations, and every time, the names and e-mails simply jumble up altogether. Has anyone tried importing Entourage contacts into Outlook 2007? And if so, can you please give me some instructions on how to do so?
View 3 Replies View RelatedEmail recipients using Mac Mail have been reporting that when they get email from me (from Outlook2007 in the PC), it would include all the tags. Also happens when I send as RTF. Plain text is fine.
So I did an experiment and since I am a mac user too, I tested it myself on my mac mail. Test scenario is this:
1. I send email from Outlook2007 (PC) using HTML as default.
2. I open with Macmail, I get garbage. (see below and/or attached file for illustration.)
3. I open same email on Entourage, it's fine.
4. I open same email on webmail, it's fine.
I use Outlook in my PC for checking work related e-mails. I like my Outlook Inbox to be viewed like this ---> View > Arranged by > From. I tried the same in my Apple Mail like this ---> View > Sort by > From. Also checked the "Organize by Thread" But it doesn't seem same like how Outlook arranged me mails.

Note: One desvantage is that TimeMachine can not auto backup BootCamp partition, but it "yes" do backups the Vm.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have VMWare fusion and Windows XP on it...I have read to exclude the virtual machine from time machine backup as any changes made in the virtual machine will cause time machine to recopy the entire thing all over again.
So...I was thinking could I just copy the vmware file into a partition on the external hard drive and periodically replace the vmware file in order to update the settings and changes etc.

I just started a new job, that requires the use of my macbook, and I would like to keep my home and work systems completely separate. My first thought was to install Snow Leopard in a virtual machine on my mac. I already have Parallels 5 for a bootcamp installation, so I tried using Parallels to install SL. No dice, it only works with SL Server. I have two separate SL discs, both standard versions.
I've searched the forums and haven't come across any results for running SL in a virtual machine that is installed in SL.
This is child's play on Windows machines, but seems pretty difficult for OSX. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations for VMs that will work for this application?

Which virtual machine (PC) would be best to use in order to play Magic: The Gathering Online (MTGO) on my new macbook? I'm thinking of trying it out, and trying to figure out what I need to do in order to run it. I currently only have an OS X partition on my computer, though I do have a copy of windows. I don't know much of anything about how such virtual machine programs work or how to install/setup such programs, but I can read about that elsewhere. Does anyone have any particular experience with MTGO and various virtual machine programs on OS X? Also, MTGO uses proprietary tools like .NET (maybe others) which I assume is an important and relevant fact.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'll try to provide as much detail as possible, but keep it simple. Running Fusion 3 (newest update) and XP Pro with Office 2007. Office connects to an Exchange 2007 server. Emails work great. However when attempting to access the OOF settings, I get an error "Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later."
Google searches say this is a known issue with Outlook 2007 on an Exchange 2007 setup and that there are errors with AutoDiscovery (or something like that). I have talked to other's with Outlook 2007 and their OOF is working just fine (inhouse or through VPN), so the Exchange server settings are fine.
I think the problem is actually Fusion since it's not communicating with the Exchange server for the OOF settings. I don't quite understand how all of that works, sorry.
One suggestion was to change the network settings in Fusion from NAT to Bridged, however when I do that I lose all connections to the network. I have also set the MAC address on Fusion to that of the Mac with no change either.
As a test, I installed Office 2010 Beta and it's doing the same thing. Outlook 2003 apparently does not have this issue, but I haven't tested that yet on the Mac/Fusion.
Just to be sure, I downloaded every Windows/Office update to eliminate any configuration changes. Anyone else experienced this?
UPDATE: OK, if the system is on the network, the OOF works fine through Fusion, however if connected to VPN (using the built in client) it gives the above errors.

I'm currently backing up my MB (2007) to an external USB drive using Time Machine.
I also have a 250gb external drive full of everything I need for work and my music collection. Basically I've realised that if this drive goes down I will probably not be able to do my job, and won't have anything fun to do the rest of the time either because all my stuff will be gone!
This data drive is used daily on Windows XP, 2000 and Vista machines so it's formatted in FAT or NTFS (can't remember which) that Time Machine won't back up from. So TM isn't an option.
Do any of you backup experts know if there's a piece of Mac software or a particular model of external drive that I can get to basically synchronise TWO external drives? I need to be able to back up my external data onto another external drive on a daily basis so I can sleep at night.
I am currently a pc user and am considering getting a mac. Before I make the leap, I am trying to find out some info. Currently, I'm using Vista with Outlook 2007. I will have to continue using pc for work but would like to use mac for photos, etc... My question deals with Outlook 2007 and Entourage 2008 compatability/integration. I am hoping that they both use the same file so that when I'm in XP, my Outlook will have all emails, sent & received, as when I'm in OSX and Entourage 2008. I am using Apple Remote Desktop to control a Mac OS X Snow Leopard system with a Mac OS X Snow Leopard system. On the computer being controlled, I launch Windows 7 through Parallels Desktop Mac version 6. Once the VM is launched, for some reason it doesn't seem to recognize the keyboard as it will not allow me to Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I can use Ctrl-Alt-Delete through the keyboard menu, but I cannot enter in my Windows password.
