My mail program doesn't open video. It says "missing plugin"
Info:iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), mail program
Whenever I try to forward an email that has a picture in it, I see a message that "A missing Plug In is needed", and the picture is missing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOur work email recently migrated over to Google apps. I still I access it via Mail like I always have. There's an email that I get every week from a coworker with a .png attachment. All of a sudden, I can't see the attachment and it says "missing plug-in". When I log-in through Google Apps, it's there. Any idea what's going on?Â

A couple of days ago I began getting a message in incoming Mail messages that have a graphic file attached -- the message says "Missing Plug In" and the graphic file won't be displayed (if it was sent as part of the body of the email message). Â The "Missing Plug In" message appears where the graphc would normally be displayed.Â
If I quit Mail and restart, the same emails are now displaying the embedded graphic files -- so apparently the Plug In is not missing. It appears to just stop working at random times. Restarting Mail solves the problem temporarily, then it begins happening again.  I know nothing about Mail Plug Ins -- is there anything I can do to correct this Missing Plug In issue?Â

I sent a request the other day for help regarding my downloading Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235 and losing the ability to play my games( they were bookmarked from the web) because of missing plug- ins. I mentioned that I know very little about this computer. I did get a reply saying that he needed more information about my computer which I sent and I have not heard anything back. I probably did not send the message correctly therefore I am sending the info again and I hope I don't screw it up this time.

I fail to receive pdf attachments intermittently using Mail 5.2 running OS X 10.7.3 (Lion). When the attachments do not arrive, I see no paperclip in the attachments column. On a recent occasion, a colleague sent me three consecutive emails, each with 1-2 pdf files attached. The middle one (containing one pdf), shows no attachment in Mail. However, I know the attachment is there, because if I open it on my iPhone, I see the attachment. What's more, if I forward the email to myself from the iPhone, I can now see the attachment again. This has happened several times in the past as well.

I have an issue where some of my sent items do not get saved to the Sent Items folder. Â
The email account in question is a work Exchange Server 2003 one and I have it set up as an IMAP account. I have the correct sent items folder configured so that all my devices (mac at home, iPad and iPhone) all sync perfectly with it. The problem appears to occur, sometimes but not always, in the following circumstances:Â When I am connected to the work network via ethernet. When the email size is quite large.Â
Bizarrely when I unplug the ethernet and connect to the office network wirelessly there is no issue. There is another mac in the office running on Snow Leopard (I'm Lion) at it has exactly the same issue.Â
Needless to say this isn't an ideal situation particularly when dealing with work emails.

I am using Mail, Address Book and iCal synced with my Google account.Â
When I send an email to a contact via Apple Mail on Mac OS X and the contact does not have a lastname include, Apple Mail replaces the blank lastname with the contact's first name.Â
For example, if I send an email to "Dad", the contact later appears on all my synced devices as "Dad Dad".Â
This is only the case when I use Apple Mail on the desktop, not on iOS.Â

Some of my mail is not showing up in my inbox on my Mac but came through on my phone. Am using imap so it should not have deleted from the server...and I have never have had this problem before.Â
It seems to be working again now, but there are 5 or so emails that just will not come through to my Mac inbox even though I can see them in the inbox on my phone...important work emails....concerned this may happen again and something will slip through the net.Â

After a problem with my "old" MacBook Pro, I have just bought a new one with OSX 10.7.3 Lion and Mail 5.2. I was able to move almost everything over with the Migration Assistant and recovered almost all the remaining from my cloud backup at Carbonite. So far so good.Â
However, in mail, some (not all) sub-folders in the file cabinet do not appear. I redid the restore from Carbonite but they still do not appear.Tried doing a rebuild of the File Cabinet and the folders within it but aparently that does nothing.Â
My assumption is that the are there in the folders of mboxes but, since the Library is now hidden from view, I can not look to verify if the mailboxes are there. What do I do to get them visible?Â

I have been using Gmail and now want to make use of IMAIL on my new mac book. First Mac I have had. Â HOwever, all the inbox folders I have in gmail are reproduced in IMAIL. I have set it up as IMAP ok and have followed every instruction on both apple sites and on gmail sites. No success. Do these folders not get set up automatically in IMAIL?Â

I have emails that show up on my iPad, iPhone and are visible when I log into iCloud but are not being shown on my Mac (Lion 10.7.4). I have checked my Junk mail and Trash and the messages are not there. I do not use Mail rules. I have restarted the Mail app and I've rebooted the Mac without any change. How to "re-sync" Mac Mail to iCloud or fix this issue?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince I upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard, Mail has had glitches. I fixed one; the other remains: I can't see Word attachments in emails. The only hint is the message "Missing Plug-in". If I show the entire header, Mail provides buttons to Quickview the document or save it. The previous problem was that Mail wouldn't start up (kept quitting while doing the initial database migration) because I'd left in MailActOn as a plugin. So I removed plugins and the contents of ~/Library/Mail/Bundles. Now Mail works except for this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a bunch of client folders and subfolders (labels on gmail). I'm trying to switch to mac in the office and set up an imap account. In the last hour searching the archives here, the subfolders in the account have appeared, disappeared, back and forth. Right now they're gone. They have never had any of the messages in them on the mac. There is no little triangle to turn.
Here's what I have done so far:
- set the folders to show in IMAP
- verified the folders/labels and their contents are on the server, my pc, my iphone
- completely deleted and recreated the account in Mail and System Preferences 3 times
- they also don't show in the [Gmail] folder down below
- let it completely sync overnight last night (problem existed yesterday too)

Although the number of unread messages is properly shown under Inbox on the Mailboxes list next to two of my three Mail accounts, the other one shows none when there some. The quantity is also missing from the total number of messages next to Inbox when I collapse the list. This was working fine for many years.Â

I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
I'm just starting to mess around with Logic Express 8, but I'm coming from Magix on Windows so I had a question about virtual drumming.I'm trying to figure out if Logic has a self-contained drum program which allows you to plug in drum hits for each piece of the kit (kick, toms, snar, etc) on a rhythm map, or if there's good software for download or purchase that can be used for this purpose.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have decided to start using gmail and keeping my email online instead of stored locally in the Mail program.
I have all my old mail and sent mail downloaded locally in the Mail program.
Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.
