MacBook :: Plug USB IPod Into Side USB Ports Keep Getting Message USB Over Current Notice?
Feb 24, 2009I have a 2.2 ghz Macbook, and whenever I plug in the USB connected to my iPod into the side USB ports, I get this "USB Over Current Notice" and it deactivates the USB Hub. It doesn't do it every time, but it does it more often than not. It will do it on both USB ports.I don't think it's a prob w/ my iPod b/c the connection was fine on my old computer. Any way I can fix this? Should I spend the $ on a Genius appt?

I mentioned that I know very little about this computer. I did get a reply saying that he needed more information about my computer which I sent and I have not heard anything back. MacBook Pro :: Won't Use The Iphone's Audio Plug As External Plug
Jun 12, 2010I was wondering if there was a way to use the iPhone's audio jack as an external jack for the macbook pro via USB or so, as i own the 13 inch model, that only offers one jack.
I want to use garage band just trying out a bit and i'd need an extra jack for the headphones, otherwise the microphone will record what's played over the internal speakers.
EDIT: I forgot to say that I already tried things like AirPhones, meaning wireless stream to iphone. But there's unfortunately few moments of latency, so i hardly can use it for recording.
OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: "Missing Plug In" In Mail?
May 29, 2012A couple of days ago I began getting a message in incoming Mail messages that have a graphic file attached -- the message says "Missing Plug In" and the graphic file won't be displayed (if it was sent as part of the body of the email message). The "Missing Plug In" message appears where the graphc would normally be displayed.
If I quit Mail and restart, the same emails are now displaying the embedded graphic files -- so apparently the Plug In is not missing. It appears to just stop working at random times. Restarting Mail solves the problem temporarily, then it begins happening again. I know nothing about Mail Plug Ins -- is there anything I can do to correct this Missing Plug In issue?

May 4, 2012I am having issues with an "inactive plug-in" message in Safari when I want to do something using a Java plug-in. I searched the communities and sure enough, when I opened Java preferences the box next to "enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications" the box was unchecked so I checked it. Unfortunately, when I go back into preferences, the box is once again unchecked. I did find out that I had a Trojan in the user.jar file associated with java but despite taking care of that issue (which for all I know is not related), this issue persists. All of my software is up to date and from what I gather uninstalling and reinstalling Java is not an option and should not need to be fone.

OS X :: Icons Missing In Finder / Apps And Video Icon Missing
Nov 30, 2010Over the last few days I've noticed a problem with missing icons. It seems to mainly effect icons in the Trash but I have one or two missing icons for videos and apps within the Finder and on the Desktop. The icon is completely gone - I have to click on the filename to select it. Quicklook works OK (for video).
I can't think of anything I've installed that would have done it except Onyx, but I haven't run that in weeks. I did repair permissions a few days ago but I doubt that could break this. It persists after a reboot. I can't get it to happen on command, it just randomly occurs. Creating a New Folder always works OK.

Mar 20, 2012I am using the Mail (5.2) app in OS 10.7. I have my Inbox sorted by decending date, i.e. newest mail at the top. When I delete a message, Mail currently selects the message above, i.e. the one that had arrived after the deleted one chronologically. Since I work through my emails from newest to latest (usually), I will already have seen the newer mesage. What I want to see is the next message on the list, i.e. the next one, which arrive before the deleted one. My question there is: How can I advance to the previous message rather than the next one (chronologically) after deleting a message?

MacBook Air :: Plug In Directly USB Drive?
Oct 15, 2008I have a USB disc drive for my mac book air as well as an external hard drive. I'd like to plug the USB disc drive in, insert the music CD and upload my music to my iTunes folder on the hard drive. Unfortunately, the Disc Drive (the MacBook Air Superdrive) only work when I plug it in direct to the MacBook - not through a USB splitter. As the Air only has one USB port, I can't also plug the external hard drive in. How can I get over this?

Jun 3, 2010I just bought a 15" MBP last week and got a few apps installed on this machine. And now it looks like I have a problem with the sound. When I use the built-in loud speakers, it is totally fine. But when I plug in the headphones. The left one is bigger than the right one. I check the sound configuration, the balance is put right in the middle (for both built-in loudspeakers and headphones). Therefore, I have to put it 3/4 on the right for the headphones. But I just don't know what is happening with my MBP. I believe probably there are some conflicts between the installed software with the drivers or something, but since it happens for both Mac OS and Windows 7 (Boot Camp), I guess I was wrong then.
