View 1 RepliesI have a new IMac and I installed vista via bootcamp, when I start up vista I am getting a blue error screen that flashes so fast i cant even ready it... then the computer shuts down. When I restart it again it goes to the page that gives me the choice to safe start or start normal. Sometimes it will let me go to windows and work fine but there have been times when it just does that over and over again. Does anyone know what this is caused from? I guess I'll have to reformat or something. If I continue to use my computer this way will it wreck something?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWon't boot up past this screen, this is the first time this has happened. I am fairly certain it is related to an attempt to install SP3 (I had removed it in favor if SP2 to hopefully fix some wireless issues). I noticed when I shut it down last time that it was installing updates, which most certainly included SP3, and then I left the computer. Maybe the install failed? If so, how can I fix this? Any way around other than reverting to a backup? (I think the clone I have of it has SP3 on it)

Just installed lion and still the same problem when it starts blue dots, when startup in safe mode loads of blue lines and dots on the screen.

I keep getting the following error 3 quarters of the way:
STOP: C000021A "Fatal system error. The windows subsystem process terminated un expectedly w/ a status of OX C000005. System shut down. It's a blue screen with white letter.
I'm using Office XP Service Pack 2 with imac OSX Install DVD version 10.6.3.
The steps I'm taking are:
Log onto my mac and use pre installed bootcamp to partition the drive. I'm using 32GB of space. Then I use my xp Prof w/ service pack 2 cd to install xp. At this time everything is working fine except for the missing drives. Then I put the bootcamp cd that came with my imac into the iMac and run bootcamp. It looks like everything is working perfectly. The imac is finding wireless internet and all the drives look like they are working fine until out of no where a blue screen pops up and states what I wrote below. There is nothing else on the screen. I'm using a 27 inch imac that i bought about 5 weeks ago new.
while i am using my macbook the screen will suddenly go blue and flash between different blue colors like it is trying to work. sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it stays like that. I have to force shut down with the button and then restart...about half the time it is still flashing blue after the restart and if it does work, it goes blue eventually.
dont know if its a problem with the screen or what because the computer continues to work...if there is a movie on, you can here it in the background and the screen just flashes.
Since upgrading to 10.7 I cannot upgrade any application without the same errormessage.
I try to upgrade the application, tell the system to replace the existing application, give it the admin credentials, .. and get the error message that the task cannot be finished, some objects were omitted... Please check Permisions...All Permissions should be ok. I did the permissions check and repair without solving the problem. As Workaround I have to delete the old application and then install the new version... but this is strange and I cannot understand this.
I just got a new mid 09 macbook pro no matter how I calibrate the screen. the dark/deep blue will always look like purple colour.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to Lion, I have been having problems backing up to Time Machine using a LaCie external disk. Time Machine worked fine before the upgrade to Lion. The backup usually starts correctly, but after backing up around 1GB, I get the following error message: "The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging or turning it off". The disk has over 80GB of space available.

I read early discussion posts on this topic and thought by now Apple would have corrected this poblem but apparently not. I updgraded my MacBook Pro last night to Lion and since last evening I have had 5 black screen (failures) and had to power off and reboot. Is there a known correction or update to this problem? It is extremely disappointing as I need my Mac for my business and cannot afford to send it to a depot for a five day repair.Â
This same problem was happening to me with an older OS but ONLY when I used both PowerPoint and Parallels at the same time. For this probem I took the MacBook into the Genius Bar and had to leave it there through the weekend and all day Monday. They told me after running multiple tests they found no hardware problems and the issue had to be software. The only fix was a five day depot repair. I thought I would manage by not using PowerPoint and Parallels together but now, with the Lion Upgrade it happens with ALL apps and when I simply try to read an email.Â

I've tried to verify/fix permissions/disk but that didn't work. I even reinstalled Lion, but not from a fresh install. I'm trying to avoid a fresh install as this machine is used by many different people and it would be a pain to reinstall everything that is currently installed on it. This machine does have Deep Freeze installed. Could this be related to the issue? Even though the kernel panics on shutdown/reboot Deep Freeze is still able to save it's changes and boot thawed or frozen. Conversely, I have also tried to run a thunderbolt stability update and it can not complete due to the kernel panic.

I am planning to purchase a 13" Macbook Pro base model (first Mac by the way), and I want to upgrade from the stock 160Gb HDD.
I don't really see myself needing 500Gb, but I have read that a higher density drive outperforms a lower density drive. Newegg currently has the 500 WD Scorpio Blue drive listed for $30 over the 320Gb edition. Will I see significant performance increase by going with the 500Gb model instead of the 320Gb one?
What about power consumption? Is one better than the other?
I'm trying to send a message to an Address Book mailing list in Mail. For some reason, my email account isn't functioning properly (another problem for another day), and Mail reports that the account doesn't recognize any of the addresses on my list. Mail, of course, lists ALL of the addresses, so the error message (and the buttons to deal with it) extend past the bottom of my 1920 x 1200 display. (I found that out by moving the dock somewhere other than the botom of the screen.)Does anyone have any idea what to do? I can't make the screen resolution any finer. I tried quitting Mail; the message pops right back up when I restart. I tried deleting the message from my Outbox, but the displayed message + error doesn't budge.

I am looking at purchasing an Ibook G4 but the description of the item includes this:"When you switch it on it begins to load up i.e. the blue screen with the Apple logo, but then the screen goes black or flickers. Said friend has kindly wiped the hard drive for me so now when you switch it on it makes the �opening� noise then you get a blue screen with alternating �?� and the Finder logo."
I have a feeling this may have been a temporary fault with the screen connector being loose and possibly damaged.But i assume the alternating "?" and the "finder logo" is simply a lack of OS?
just installed 10.5.6 on their last gen. iBook.She left the iBook plugged in to the mains and came back to find that the iBook was alternating between the grey Apple screen and a light blue desktop screen where she could see the cursor. Sometimes it would also switch to a blue screen without a cursor.
I've tried holding shift during startup - no effect.
I've tried rebooting NVRAM - no effect.
After windows is installed a Blue screen appears with cursor on screen but it freezes completely.I can fix this by restarting my mac , then once windows restarts i insert the Mac OS disc , select the disc within my computer but the following message appears "Package requires new version of installer"

Everytime I try to turn on the MacBook, the blue screen appears for a second and then everything gets dark (but I can see that the computer turned on normally, it's just the screen that gets almost black, without light). Sometimes only the right side of the screen is blue and then gets dark just like the left one. I was looking for the problem and I perceived that the left side seems to be loose and I can't fix it. What should I do?

I held down shift, it gets HOT HOT and makes noises. (for safety mode) followed by a blank grey screen and blue screen. Then tried the other way (I think it's command alt delete? I don't remember) and it turned from grey (no apple symbol) to blue blank. Then third time, grey followed by blue with vertical lines, not blocky clear lines that you can see if you are close to it.Â

I am trying to connect from my macbook pro to iMac by using remote management with allow access for All Users but cannot get to connect from MBP to iMac. I can connect without problems from iMac to MBP. The macbook pro just sits trying to connect.
I check the log on the iMac and see the new entry appear during connect attempt of:

When trying to open computer after being in sleep mode, I clicked the mouse to open the password screen, & a blank blue/black screen appeared & the mouse timer( colored circle) appeared, as if to be waiting. I know yall probably get this a lot but I am having a lot of trouble rebooting my macbook. A while ago I was using my computer and all of a sudden it froze I then tried rebooting with the start up disk and was successful and everything began working fine again until all of sudden my mac just froze. I powered the mac down and i wouldnt turn on, so I tried to reboot the system again and everything was going fine the computer was installing all the software so I left it going overnight for Disk 1 to complete, when I woke up all I saw was a blue screen with a white box saying MAC OS X and under a blue bar with "starting Mac OS X" underneith. I then powered the computer down and redid the apple, option P R to reset the Ram again but I still get this blue screen that I cant get past. I have read about booting the computer up in safe mode and i tried that but that didnt seem to work.

The tech at OWC said that it is normal to do that the first time but should speed up after the subsequent restarts, etc. Well, it is continuing to take 5 mins to start up.
