I am experiencing some problems when I use gmail, yahoo, or hotmail. When I click compose new message in any of these email services my internet connection is disrupted and all the pages I have opened either reset or the browser says it does not have connection. I have used the disk utility to repair permissions and that does not seem to change anything. I have not been able to find anything about this problem being discussed on the internet. I log into an email account, and I click compose message; the internet then disconnects for a few seconds. If I am streaming radio that resets.
I have 3 email accounts that I have added to my Mac Mail. It seems to have chosen my school email account as the default email so every time I send an email, it says it's coming from this school account. I have a primary gmail account that I would like to use as a default. Is there a way to stop this automatic selection every time I compose a message? Even if I select the account I want to use when I compose a new email message, it still sends it out showing the wrong account as the sender.
None of the composing commands work. I receive mails in the usual way, but trying to answer them just doesnt work after clicking. There is not an error log. Command for quiting the application does not work to and I have to force exit before turning off the computer.
I want to be able to send an email message with a specific keyword in the subject and only a URL in the body.
Here's where Automator needs to come in: When an email with the subject keyword is received, have Safari open the URL contained in the body of the message. Copy all of the text from the opened URL. Compose a new email message and paste in the text copied from the web page, and email it back to the original sender. Close Safari.
Using Apple Mail, is there any way to compose mail in HTML, where the font used to compose won't be overwritten by the default plain text font in the recipient's inbox?
Basically, I want the emails I send to look exactly like they do when they're on my screen, not reformatted to a plain text.
How do I change the bland black and white toolbar icons in mail to colour ones as seen in numerous screen shots. Going round and round in circles to find the setting.
I have recently bought a Mac Book Pro with Max OS X on it. I use a web based outlook to recieve emails from wrok. When composing a new email, and selecting Contacts, my email addresses dont show up.
I composed an email today and it didn't like the way I configured the addresses. I got an error message saying the message couldn't be sent because of the address format. Now, every time I send an email, no matter to whom, that error pops up. My correctly addressed emails go out just fine. How do I get rid of it? Where do I find the draft to delete it so the program doesn't keep trying to send? (It's not in my draft folder)
Mail works fine except for one message with a single .docx attachment. All other mail including mail from the same person with other attachments before and after this one has worked fine last few months. This particular one just wouldn't open, not just the attachment, but the text as well. I was able to retrieve the message and attachment directly from the server using a browser connection but that wouldn't have worked for more than a few days as mail automatically is dropped from the server.

ok, so I have a server that is hosting my email addresses, i have setup imap to use on all 3 of my devices.
My macbook pro, my ipad 2 and my iphone 4s. On my ipad, I go into the account to look for sent messages, and I have 3 sent message folders under the inbox,. sent. sent messages and sent with a paper airplane.
Now I am trying to get everything to sync together, so that when I write an email on any device, it is saved in the sent mail folder, and I can see it on any device I choose. Currently I am sending email on my ipad and it is not saving in the folders, any of them.
in the sent message folder, i am seeing messages sent from me from last friday, although i have sent messages already from this account.
in my second account though, the heirachy is different when i go into the account under the inbox i have 1 folder sent messages, then i have the sent messages with the paper airplane next to it.
when i go into the sent messages folder i see that a message that i wrote on my macbook pro this morning, is saved in this sent messages folder, as it other things i have sent through my mackbook pro in the sent messages with the paper airplane i have stuff only sent from friday and before.
I recently set my Mac Mail preferences (using a me.com account) to send an "away message" to the senders of all incoming messages to my mail account. Little did I know the hassle this would create -- while I was away, there were problems with neverending back-and-forth away messages to various recipients where hundreds to thousands of e-mail messages were automatically exchanged back and forth from my account to the recipient that was also away or unable to receive messages. Then I really goofed up big time and sent myself an e-mail from the same away e-mail account, and I couldn't even stop it, there were so many messages upon messages it was just ridiculous. How can I avoid this problem in the future? Is there a simpler way to set an away message using Mac Mail and a me.com account?

I was viewing my mailboxes in a column on the left, then a column of the emails in my inbox then the right 2/3 of my screen showed the email massage contents. The area showing the content has disappeared and I have to double click to open an email in a separate window. How do I get the window back to the three areas(mailboxes, email list and selected massage content?
Writing your preferences to disk has failed. Your preferences may not have been saved. The permissions on ~/Library/Preferences may be wrong or your disk may be full.
I have read previous discussions on this (2011) and used disk utility to clear permissions, but cannot find any mail.plist in Library
I've recently migrated to Lion and am finding the new layout of Mail frustrating as it shows my mail by the recipient rather than the sender. As the recipient is usually me, I have what appears to be a inbox of emails to myself but I have to open each email (or preview it) to reveal who actually sent it to me. Is there a way to have the sender (From field) showing in the list rather than the To field?
I need to have them sorted by Date so that the most recent messages are at the top. But when I choose View > Message Attributes the option to select "From" is already ticked but it is also greyed out.I have temporarily fixed this by using the classic view but I would really like to know how to do this in the new view?
What happens when the error message in the Mail program is long that you cannot get to the bottom of it? I cannot click it or even access this email from a folder or mailbox to delete it. Am I going to be stuck with it for eternity???

I am having a problem where my mail App is not searching the entire body of the message any more. I installed Lion soon after it was released, and I believe that it has been working up until recently.
If I do a search, it won't search the message body, and gives me no option to search for "Message contains" (just "People" and "Subjects"). If search for subject "foo" and then click on the "Subject" pull down menu, it shows "Subject" and "Entire Message", but "Entire Message" is greyed out.
I've done a lot of web searching and most people with similar problems had problems with Spotlight. If I do a Spotlight search, it does find all of the mail messages correctly. Its just the Mail app that won't let me search.
I haven't tried re-indexing spotlight yet because spotlight seems to be working okay. Note that all of my mail accounts are "POP" accounts with the mail stored locally on my machine.
Wondering if anyone else was having any weird issues with their iCloud and unread count in the Mail app on their mac running lion? I can't seem to get rid of a phantom unread message. My iCloud account is fairly new so I don't have that many messages to go through so I know there is not an unread message any where.
I remember seeing a screenshot of Leopard where the terminal was transparent, as well as blurred (like the menubar). This would greatly help readability, especially on certain backgrounds, but I can't figure out how to do it. Is this a feature of the new Terminal?
I purposely deleted the Mail application from my Macbook. Went into Finder and moved the app icon to trash can. I thought this would do the trick, but now it randomly shows up on the toolbar but won't open. How do I get rid of this thing?
Is anyone aware of an HDTV that supports the MacBook's native resolution? Currently I have a 32" Samsung which does not - first I have to change the resolution on the MacBook to something smaller and then hook up the TV, resulting in a distorted and blurred image. I'm looking to replace the Samsung with something larger, say 40"-55".
I am using the Mail (5.2) app in OS 10.7. I have my Inbox sorted by decending date, i.e. newest mail at the top. When I delete a message, Mail currently selects the message above, i.e. the one that had arrived after the deleted one chronologically. Since I work through my emails from newest to latest (usually), I will already have seen the newer mesage. What I want to see is the next message on the list, i.e. the next one, which arrive before the deleted one. My question there is: How can I advance to the previous message rather than the next one (chronologically) after deleting a message?
I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.
