OS X :: Using Automator. - Compose A New Email Message And Paste In The Text Copied From The Web Page?
Feb 14, 2009
I want to be able to send an email message with a specific keyword in the subject and only a URL in the body.
Here's where Automator needs to come in:
When an email with the subject keyword is received, have Safari open the URL contained in the body of the message.
Copy all of the text from the opened URL.
Compose a new email message and paste in the text copied from the web page, and email it back to the original sender.
I am experiencing some problems when I use gmail, yahoo, or hotmail. When I click compose new message in any of these email services my internet connection is disrupted and all the pages I have opened either reset or the browser says it does not have connection. I have used the disk utility to repair permissions and that does not seem to change anything. I have not been able to find anything about this problem being discussed on the internet. I log into an email account, and I click compose message; the internet then disconnects for a few seconds. If I am streaming radio that resets.
I have 3 email accounts that I have added to my Mac Mail. It seems to have chosen my school email account as the default email so every time I send an email, it says it's coming from this school account. I have a primary gmail account that I would like to use as a default. Is there a way to stop this automatic selection every time I compose a message? Even if I select the account I want to use when I compose a new email message, it still sends it out showing the wrong account as the sender.
my email is been sending emails to my contacts with nasty links. Now, when I compose an email can not click on the contact. Uverse told me it is on safari since I can access through firefox, what do i do?

I have been working on a template where I have placed a two column table on the front page, left side being for a graphic for a letterhead, and right side column for text.
My problem is that on the second page, I would like the document to continue on without any table. I would like for the text to flow from the table into regular margin document on the second page. Is there a way to do this?
1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer ‚Äď does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac ‚Äď no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick ‚Äď connected printer to PC using same USB cable ‚Äď page starts printing in about 1 seconds ‚Äď no problems. No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided.¬†Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed¬†Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem ‚Äď was unable ‚Äď the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.

I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.
I am trying to convert a text file to an audio file by using 'text to speech'. Originally, the text was created in Pages but just in case I also saved it as an rtf file. I want to save it as an mp3. Also, once I've got the workflow, I would like to use this again with other text files. I know I can save the workflow and I can do the task by Automator, but I must be doing something wrong. Should I use the 'record' function? What am I doing wrong? I called AppleCare but of course, after 15 minutes they recommended their online discussions. They don't know anything about these basics. The guy asked me, what I tried. I told him that I tried Terminal, but I was confident that Automator and creating a workflow would be the solution for me. He didn't even know where Automator was. I suppose, this was the last time that I purchased an AppleCare.
whenever I try the "Speak Text" action to speak out some text I receive the Automator error message: "Another application is already speaking" and no words are spoken. At the same time I can run a "run shell script" action with a "say some words" which is executed as expected.Any idea what's blocking my Speak Text action?
I'm thinking, specifically, my address. It would be great if there was a shortcut that would let me paste in my full address whenever I need to drop it into an email. I'd assume there must be some kind of way to do it, but I've been searching and can't find anything. Could anyone hit me with a tip?
I don't know what I have done but recently after copying text, The computer makes a sound everytime I paste? Like an error sound. Before I would copy and paste without any sound now everytime I paste a sound follows.
I'm updating an Automator workflow for OS X Lion that I initally developed and used, without issue, in OS X Tiger. The workflow asks for a name, creates a folder for the name, takes a digital image with a Nikon D50 connected to the computer, and saves the image to the new folder. This aspect of the workflow works fine.
I then have a prompt asking if we should take another. If the user says "yes," the script should take another image and save it to the folder. This is where I run into an issue. When I attempt to add another "Take a Picture Action" into the workflow, I get the cryptic (at least to me) error message in the attached screenshot.
Here's the text:
"Cannot update for observer <AMWorkflow 0x400458ac0> for the key path "parameters.name" from <TakePicture 0x403e3b0a0>, most likely because the value for the key "parameters" has changed without an appropriate KVO notification being sent. Check the KVO-compliance of the TakePicture class."
The language of this error would seem to indicate a bug.
Every time I sign into my Macbook, I get an error message from Automator; "The data couldn't be read because it has been corrupted.". I have never created an Automator workflow. How do I find out what Automator is trying to run and stop it?
Does Apple Mail have ability to paste boiler plate text? In MS Office Windows I used to setup many boiler plate texts that I would access through keyboard shortcuts, such as Control H for "Please don't hesitate to contact me." Can Mail do a similar thing?
Everthing's been fine since I first setup my Mac Mini over a year ago....2 or 3 days ago I noticed when I tried to do a cut/paste from a mail message to a field (using Cmd-C Cmd-V) in a web page, it didn't work. It's alsways worked before but I chalked it up to the web form not taking "pasted" input. But then I tried from a text document to an email...same story. I highlight text with the mouse, do Cmd-C and get a "bong" sound, then go to where I want to paste, do a Cmd-V and nothing gets pasted. I take it the "bong" means some sort of error or invalid input occured?
I restarted the Mini and it worked for a while (at least when I tried it right after logging in). Then yesterday I had to restart my Mini again and the shortcuts aren't working again. If I highlight text and then right-click the mouse and select copy, then move to where I want to paste and right-click and select paste it works fine....just the keyboard shortcuts don't work. I checked the sytem prefs, keyboard pane and saw nothing out of the ordinary.....any ideas out there?
How would you use Automator and ical to send a monthly reminder email to a set of clients?I thought if I set up a message in automator to send a message, and an event that calls up automator workflow this would work,
