View 1 RepliesWhen opening a finder window there are now several unwanted icons on the toolbar, 2 are for games and one for a certain website. Don't know how they got there and customizing the toolbar does nothing to remove them or show how they got there either.

This has been happening for a while, but i've only just got around to looking into it. Â
In full screen mail when I compose an email it looks like this: As you can see the fonts and toolbar features are duplicated and blurred.Â
Then if I get out of full screen, it gets even worse!

I want to change the default finder toolbar icons (back, forward, path and view icons, search, etc), does anyone know the path location for these? I want to make my own icons in photoshop and manually change them, the same way you'd do with the log on screen or icon I know about the customize toolbar option, but that doesn't allow you to change the icons, just to arrange them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn App Store Version 1.3, running under OS X 10.9.4, the past couple of days the toolbar icons across the top of the main window --
Featured, Top Charts, Categories, Purchases, Updates -- are all grayed out. So when I try to click on any one of them, nothing happens.Â
I can select the corresponding pane by using the App Store's Store menu, and then the grayed-out icon for it shows a very light blue.Â
Non-functioing of the toolbar icons is an annoyance.Â
But why aren't the toolbar icons working and how do I get them back?

I am using Microsoft Office for Mac 2008, which has been performing fine for many months. Now all of a sudden the icons are missing on my toolbars. All that it shows in the toolbar window, (both standard and format toolbars), is the text without the icons, with just a blank dark area where the tool icons should be, leaving the toolbar impossible to use in any practical way. No amount of selecting or de-selecting the toolbars via drop down window "view", or changing the option for "text and icons", or "resetting the toolbars in customise will change this situation. The problem has occurred in all of "word", "excel", "PowerPoint" and Entourage. I have tried reinstalling office from the original CD, but the problem persists. I have even quarantined the normal.dotm file before reinstalling office, but it simply created a new "normal" file with the same result. No icons on the toolbars. I am using OS X leopard. I haven't yet resorted to reinstalling leopard, but what else is there?!? Any clues to what has caused this to suddenly occur?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Safari windows look grey and bleak, just like the weather. I've double checked my security preferences and allowed third party plug-in access etc, is it that extensions just don't install as coloured icons in Safari? My friend's web browser allows colour and it makes icons easier to find in the Toolbar.

The time and date, wifi and other icons are missing from the toolbar. Other icons are missing from the finder window and the dismiss and minimize icons are missing from all windows. I have tried to delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file and also tried to reboot in safe mode to no avail. When I do reboot, the some, but not all, of the top bar icons appear then disappear. It must be a plist file but I haven't a clue as to which one...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased a used Macbook Pro from ebay. Appeared to be in good working order when I first started working with it, but I have updated from OS X 10.9.2 to 10.9.5 and downloaded Open Office program, set up my mail and went through the system preferences and personalized it. Also ran disk utilities. Then, this AM, when I restarted, the header icons on the right side are grayed out except for the battery %, the date and time and notifications. Also, in mail and safari, the toolbar buttons are blank (forward, back, print, mail, bookmarks, autofil, history and downloads). I went to the disk utility from the recovery partition (repaired disk and disk permissions). I also reset parameters. Don't know what to do next. Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but I am assuming it is software (OS X) related at this point.Â

The dock and toolbar at the top have disappeared from the screen. They re-appear when I click in the area where they should be but disappear once again whenever I click elsewhere. I have also lost the ability to minimize open windows. I can resize them manually, maximize and exit them I just cannot minimize them! (The orange button has gone grey.)
I have checked that I am not in fullscreen mode and I have unchecked all the automatic hide settings in the system preferences. This is only occuring when I'm using Mozilla Firefox.
I have a feeling that I accidentally clicked a button or unwittingly used a keyboard command to enter this setting, but I can't remember what I pressed!Â

I have 12 different icons in my toolbar. 11 of them are useful. Of course the one I don't want, is the only one I don't know how to turn off. Why must apple scatter the option for "show in toolbar" across the system prefrences labrynth? How do I get rid of the device sync icon?

Since installing Yosemite (10.10.1) I cannot keep the Dock and the Banner Toolbar visible unless I move my mouse to the top or bottom of screen.Â

Safari>View: Sdebars are all hidden; Status Bar and Favorites Bar are set to 'Show'. I am in 'Full Screen' but in the upper right corner of the screen, I have no arrows (another Support Post suggested that there should be two arrows facing each other??).Â
