OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail 5.2 - PDF Attachment Exceeds Maximum Size
Apr 23, 2012
When attaching a simple PDF (size 15.8MB) to a simple OS Lion email, when going out it expands to 21.4 MB. This exceeds my ISPs 20MB maximum file size. Why a simple PDF would expand by almost 5 MB. The same email without the attachment is only 400 KB.

Once I could see which of my emails had an attachment but now I cannot. There once was an icon next to message in the email list to indicate the attachment and its name. The attachments are there. Also at one time I could sort my email by attachment.

Normally when I opened an email that had an attachment (like my paystub pdf), there was a down arrow under the header line in the upper right corner that allowed me to download the attachment. Suddenly it is gone - and gone on all my past emails that I have done this with.Â
Where this would suddenly go??

I'm trying to figure out how to change the maximum log file setting for my Cisco VPN. I think on a Windows machine you are able to do this:Â
[Instructions for Windows: right-click "Computer" on your desktop, and select "Manage". Expand "Event Viewer" and then "Applications and Services Logs". Right-click on "Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client) and select "Properties. There will be a "Maximum log size" and a "When maximum event log size is reached" option.]Â
I can't seem to figure out how to do this on my Macbook Pro. I'm running 10.7.4Â
Have tried viewing in Console and while i can see the ppp file - there's no way to see maximum file size settings.

Howdy all, just been scouring the web but can't find anything on this. I have a late 2008 aluminium MB 2.4ghz. I currently have a 500gb HD but want to increase this. Is there a max size/capacity that my model supports or can I go nuts and say put a 1TB inside with no dramas?

I just got a Tangerine Clamshell that looks great w/ all original packaging. I was wanting to upgrade the 6GB hard drive with a 250GB, will the Clamshells take a hard drive this big? I know the iMac G3s can't take more than 127gb.

What deteremines the max hard drive for the early 08 macbook pro's? Is it the physical height? or is there a gb limit? I saw this 500gb barracuda drive at bestbuy for $80 running at 7200 rpm and 16mb cache buffer. so it sounds good. But is there anything coming out soon with higher rpm's or higher capacities for laptops? i know theres ssd but thats expensive and low capacity compared to sata for now.

This just started happening. Startup my Quad Core 2.66, with 10.6.8 (all SW updates), login, and screen zooms to maximum zoom with giant cursor in the middle. The only easy way get it back down to normal res is to do command+esc to get to Front Row, and then hit esc.

I've got a very annoying issue with Mail 5.2 (1257). I customized the main application window so that it would only take a small amount of screen space. My problem now, is that every time I close Mail and open it again, it looks like much larger. So I have to rescale the window every time I open Mail, which is quite frustrating. How to force Mail to keep the same window size?

I had problems with my Apple Mail crashing and the only fix we could try after spending quite a long time on searching for the proble was to delete all my accounts and re-introduce them one at a time. But I didn't realise that would delete all my preferences and signatures
So I am having to start from fresh. I can get my text for message subject lines and the mailboxes to the size I want BUT if i have digests from groups the text is still tiny. I know I can enlarge using cmd+ but I have to do that for each message. But I can;t find the preferences

Trouble is, the very next email i want to write, the font is reverted to some microscopic cuneiform.
way to LOCK the font size selection I make so that each email I start opens with it?

I like my MacBook Air, but the font size when drafting email is a bit too small. For viewing regular email, I know I can use the Command and "=" to increase the size, but that does not work on the drafting window. how to increase the font size I view when drafting. (Just to be clear, this is just for my viewing -- I am not interested in changing the font in the email that is sent (I know how to do that).)

I know about the "actual size" button, dragging from the desktop instead of using iPhoto, checking outgoing size with control-click Quick Look, Send Windows-friendly attachments, etc., but none fix the problem. All JPG attachments get reduced to thumbnail size. I have to zip them and the recipient then needs to decompress them to get the full size images.Â
Is there a way to reset all preferences without uninstalling/reinstalling? I don't want to have to archive/export mailboxes and then reimport.Â
