I am having problems. After every restart, Lion keeps loading my menubar apps that were deleted. Also, I've made Chrome my default browser but after every restart, it asks me do I want to set it as my default browser.

I have a little problem in that i wished to delete things from my time machine to make room (thats before i realised it did it anyway when it was full)the only way i found to do it was to empty to trash that was the only option that was given to me now it is in the trash it will not delete, i have read articles on here but they do not seem to work so wondered if anyone has managed to do this as i have over 23000 files in the trash that will not delete my local apple shop suggested deleting the time machine but the only option i get is to send to trash which i am reluctant to do

View 4 Replies View Relatedafter insalling Lion (10.7.3), it made a backup on time machine (approx 20 GB) and all went fine. Next backup, I noticed the message "deleting old backups" (or something like this). I though it was just some clean up after the installation... taking too much actually, a bit suspicious...So I was *horrified* when I discovered that Lion was actually deleting ALL previous backups, (say a couple of years history).I stopped in in time do save just the last month I am incredibly disappointed ! Why in the world that could happen ??? Now I lost all my hystory.
The only option I have is to try some disk recovery option, but I am sure that even if I find the old file it could be impossible to restore them in the time machine backups history, which I understand is rather complex and impossible to fix "by hand" , isn't it ?

I installed a game called PlaneShift and now want to uninstall it. It does not appear to have an uninstaller. When I try to move the file the client is in, the client itself, or any of the other files in the folder to the trash I get a message that says this cannot be done because the file cannot be deleted. The file stays where it was and nothing happens. The file is not locked nor is the application running. I even downloaded CleanMyMac to delete it which would claim to have done the job yet the folder and everything it it would still remain. Googling it yielded some commands to put in to the terminal to delete it with the root account

I have a mailbox in Mail that I no longer want. I selected the option to delete the mailbox, but the mailbox will not leave the list. I have tried a few times to get rid of the box, but it will not leave. All the settings are still there, it still goes after mail and still allows me to send mail from that account. I created a new project in Garageband called QE2.band on my desktop, I imported a midi file into the project, made some changes and saved it.This created two Icons on my desktop. Both with the same exact name of QE2.band. One had the standard document looking icon with the Guitar, and the second which looked like a minni screenshot of my GB tracks.I later moved the one with the "Tracks" icon to my music folder in the "Grarge Band" sub folder. I can still access this project just fine. But the Icon with the document looking Icon with the Guitar still appears on my desktop.If I double click on this desktop Icon, is is highligted with the selection rectangle, but does nothing.If I attempt to drag this Icon to the Trash in the Dock I get the message box saying "The item "QE2.band" can't be moved to the trash because it can't be deleted."If I RIGHT CLICK (CONTROL-CLICK) on this icon and select "Move to Trash", I get the same dialog box as above.If I open a Finder window in my desktop directory, the file does not appear.If I open up the "Terminal" app and cd to my desktop folder and execute the ls -la command, I do not see this file QE2.band.If I include the ls switches to how hidden (beginning with a ".") and including the -i to show the files id/inode number, including a null file spec, an "*" file spec or the actual file name "QE2.band" as the file spec, it still responds with file not found:ix:Desktop jeff$ pwd/Volumes/IX User/Users/jeff/Desktopix:Desktop jeff$ ls -la QE2.bandls: QE2.band: No such file or directory [code]
