I am using Apple Mail on Lion to acces a Microsoft Exchange Server.The mailbox is quite large, and I'd like to just limit access to the past few days worth of messages. On my iOS devices this is easily accomplished in Settings. But, I do not see a similar option in Lion/Mail.If it is not possible, is there any other way to limit the size of data accessed?
View 1 RepliesSo I'm rolling out 10.6 on some Mac Pros in our office. So far it's gone fairly smoothly (aside from the fact that Xerox has decided to not bother make drivers for 10.6). We're switching over to Apple's Mail/iCal/Contacts instead of the buggy Entourage. Of the 4 users, 3 of them are working fine. Sometimes their AD session goes buggy and they can't access shared folders on our server via smb, but a restart fixes it. I have one user who comes in every morning though, and her Apple Mail app can not sync with the Exchange 2007 server. It prompts her for her password and won't accept it. She can access shared folders though via smb and they open up right away, meaning it's recognizing her domain and user/pass with out her entering it manually.

I have used Apple Mail to read and store my work email right off my work Exchange server - without any problem. All was fine, and for what seems a very long time, I happily used both my win 7 laptop at work and my 2 Apple computers at home and during travel as well as my iPhone - anywhere. Â
However, now, there is a new policy at work where all email older than 3 months (sigh!!) has been removed to an "online archive" of the "emc SourceOne" - which is a non-crossplattform service - and not accessible from other than a windows PC with supported browser (not including SafarI). (Windows revenge) I have lost all access to these on my iPhone, which is a shame - not Apples fault, though. This is not about blaming Apple. However, I still have all my "older than 3 months" email in theory safely kept on both of my Apple computers - presumably safely stored in Apple Mail.Â
Here is my question: I have not dared to connect either of these imacs / mbas to Internet - at all - in fear of losing my precoius work emails. I have feared that the exchange server will kill all these "older than 3 months" email kept there - as soon as it gets a chance to do so.Â
1. Can I safely connect Apple Mail to internet without losing my already downloaded exchange emails?
2. If not - how should I proeceed to get these files safely transferred to my iCloud email?Â

The mail app on my mac continuously displays that I have only two new messages, no matter if I have 7 or 0, it will always display 2.

Although the number of unread messages is properly shown under Inbox on the Mailboxes list next to two of my three Mail accounts, the other one shows none when there some. The quantity is also missing from the total number of messages next to Inbox when I collapse the list. This was working fine for many years.Â

Mail is showing one of my IMAP mailbox inboxes as having 8 unread messages, but there's only 1. I've created a smart mailbox to show only unread messages, and even though there's only one message in there, the badge on the smart mailbox also shows 8. I've quit and restarted Mail in case it was a cache problem, but that made no difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.

We have a new Exchange 2010 server set up in our office. We upgraded from 2003 specifically to support using Apple Mail.Â
We are now connecting our various iPhones, iPads, and Macs (all running Lion) to the Exchange server and we see the iPhones and iPads sync very quickly with the server, but Apple Mail on the Macs seems to be throttling itself to about 70KB/s. The iPhone and iPads synced in minutes, but the Macs have been spinning for 3 hours now, never going above 70KB/s of download speed.Â
It's clearly not the server or the network slowing things down as the iPhones and iPads are connected over the same network.

I have to quit Mail and restart it to start getting emails again. Plus all the messages I had deleted come back again and those moved elsewhere are back in the inbox. My company IT says the problem is that they are using an older version of MS Exchange server software and that Apple is not fully compatible. Is there a way to improve Apple Mail performance on my end?

Can anyone give me a clue where these things are entered? When I add a new account in Mac Mail, and choose Exchange 2007, I don't see similar fields. My guesses so far have resulted in "the server cannot be contacted on port 443
I had to re-configure my Exchange account today because it suddenly and inexplicably stopped working. When I re-configured, the inbox only seems to be downloading the previous three days of messages. I have searched all the configuration boxes and can't find anything about days of messages to download. I want it to re-downloard everything in the Inbox on the server.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Gmail and Exchange accounts set up in the Mail app,...The Gmail account is working fine, but suddenly today (with no setting changes or updates) when I select certain messages in the exchange account, it crashes Mail with the below trace. It only happens on some message and not others. I can't find any distinction between the crashing messages and the ok ones. Note that I have already tried rebuilding mailboxes and even deleting the entire account and re-adding it. The problem persists and makes it impossible to use Mail as my Exchange client.

I just transferred a group of users from the Local directory to the LDAP directory. There directories are in place and haven't changed, and neither has the size of the email folders in the Library->Server->Mail->Data folder. But now, there are no messages in the directories, including the Inbox. It's empty except for a single message that says "no subject" and has no content.

I am running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and periodically Mail.App will stop updating my new emails. I am connected to an Exchange 2007 system. When it is not able to update, clicking the "Get Mail" button will not do anything but I am still able to send mail.

We've tried syncing our calendars in many ways and after thinking we found the answer (via mobile me) realized it was a mess because odd appointments kept showing up. So I have two choices. Either make my MAIL and ICAL app sync to the exchange server, or find a way to sync both work (laptop) and personal (the one that would be used as the server at home) without having weird appts coming up on everyone's calendar.

After updating to Yosemite, my iMac shows a badge of 1 flagged message in OS X Mail, even though there are no flagged messages. If I do flag a message, the counter increments by one, and if I unflag a flagged message, it decrements by one, as it should. But it always shows one more flagged message than actually exists. If I click on the "flagged" messages on the left when it shows a badge number of 1, there are no flagged messages that appear on the right.Â
What is funny is that I have the exact same mail accounts on my macBook Air, and it does not have this problem at all.Â
How can I "reset" the number of flagged messages on my iMac?Â

I've just installed Snow Leopard and trying to setup the mail app to connect to a Exchange 2007 SP1 server, however can't manage to get this working.
Is there anybody who managed to get this working? If so, how did you connect (OWA/VPN)?
I'm trying to setup our exchange server with Mail.app. I have full access to the server when I use Safari, but it doesn't work using the client.The server it seems runs "Microsoft Exchange Server 2003", and with the Safari I get into "Outlook Web Access". Isn't it enough for the mail client to work? I use the same server address (path, and port).

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe iCloud account in Mail displays 1 unread message when all are read. I am unable to "mark all messages as read" to remove the 1 unread message icon. When I send multiple test emails to the iCloud account, it still only displays 1 unread message when there are more. The iCloud account on my iOS devices correctly displays the number of unread email messages.

over my Entourage outgoing mail can no longer update Exchange server 2003.
Entourage 12.2.0 was working fine on my OSX 10.6.2. I believe after upgraded Entourage to version 12.2.3, all my outgoing mail were not updated to exchanges server.
All mail reaches it intended recipients and a copy keep in local folder. other function like calender and contact are able to sync with exchange without problem.
Having installed Snow Leopard today on my macbook, I was keen to set up Mail, iCal and address book with my exchange account. However, when I use any of these apps to detect my account settings, it crashes the respective programs. Entourage web services manages to connect my accounts but I don't find it particularly user friendly. Has anyone had a similar experience? If I can't resolve this, is there a way to manually configure accounts in the new apps?

Exchange IMAP
So will I have to enable Exchange IMAP in order to connect? Will it support 2003 if I select Exchange 2007?
