The finder window on my MacMini (OSX 10.7) keeps dropping off the screen and cannot be retrieved. Where did it go? Clicking on the Finder icon gets no results.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI seem to have the following problem. not sure exactly how it started as my wife was using the mac at the time (she says she just dragged the safari to different desktop via mission control) but now the situation is as follows:
When I hit safari icon it switches on (I can see the little light dot underneath the icon and after right click I can see names of windows that are opened) however I can only see the Safari menu at the top but no window. If I scroll to the right or left to different desktops it's not there, the same goes if I double tap to see the Mission Control mode it's not there...
I so far figured out that once the Safari menu is visible on top of the screen I can go to View>Enter Full Screen and then Safari will come back into the full screen mode but once I unclick the full screen button in right top corner the whole window just swoops into the right top corner and it's nowhere to be found again.

Wasn't this an option previous to 10.7.4? It doesn't work now.When clicking the Finder icon in the Dock, a new Finder window would open? I know about Finder prefs - General - Always open folders in new window but this isn't what I mean.I'd have a Finder window open then want to copy/move something so I clicked on the Finder icon in the dock to get a new window.Every time I clicked the Dock icon, I'd get a new Finder window.

I have a small problem that didn't happen previously. As you know, when you download something on mac, a download window appears and you see the download progress. And when it's down you simply click on the file to open it, within that same window. But recently all my downloads disappear after they finish downloading and I have to go into Finder and into the downloads folder to find my file which gets a little inconvenient when downloads pile up in the folder. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm using an iMac Core i7 running 10.7.3 and I wanted to access my Application support folder (in user/Library), I couldn't find it. It seems my user Library has become invisible, but I can't 'see' it from the finder, nor can I access its contents. I know it's there since I tried to make a new folder called, "Library" and the system told me 'there is already one by that name...' Also if I select 'Open' from another program, I can clearly see it, but only from the 'Open' window.Â
Is this a known issue with Lion 10.7.3? And does anyone know how to resolve this?Â
Disk size used to show at the bottom of the finder window in Leopard. Can't seem to make that appear in Lions.

Every time I open finder I have to drag it out to the size I want it. It will not remember the size I put it at. How do I get it to remember. MBA Mid-2011 with Lion installed 10.7.4.Â
If I restart it its back to a real small size again and with a 11" MBA that is small.

Ever since I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Lion I've noticed a large question mark in the finder window header. There is a smaller one beneath it, and they're both located just to the left of the search window.

I have a 21.5" iMac bought in November 2009. I am having a strange happening with it. I have just been using Mail, clicked on the red button at the top left to quit, but the mail window just kept disappearing all but about 3mm off the screen to the top and top left and not quitting. I have also had this happen when using Safari, occasionally if I click on a link on the page to another open another page Safari disappears off the top and top left except for about 3mm.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery few days when I try to open Mail app message viewer window from the minimized state, by clicking on the App icon in the Dock, it will not open -- even though Mail app is running. When this starts happening there is no way to make the message viewer appear, even though Mail app has not crashed does appear to be running. Also, at this time, any minimized emails will not open from the Dock either. If I restart Mail app this fixes it, but the problem comes back.
minimized email messages often seem to get lost by the Dock after this happens as well, so I lose track of messages I had minimized for future reference (they no longer appear in the Dock and I have to find them and open them and minimize them again... since I sometimes minimize several messages in the Dock to respond to or have for easy reference this is annoying).

The Mail viewer window opens briefly on Mail startup but disappears immediately.
It will open from a minimised window (while the program is open) or by opening a new viewer window only.
This has started happening since Mavericks was installed - before this, the viewer window always appeared automatically when I clicked on Mail or command-tabbed to Mail.

I don't know when started to happen, but when I open a window of Finder, and click in the left sidebar to see what is in Desktop, it didn't show in the right panel, it open a Terminal window. If I click Applications, or Music, it works good, but not with Desktop. I already installed Lion again 3 times, but when restoring from Time Machine, it starts to doing that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy finder windows seem to show that I'm "sharing" with other computers. I have file sharing turned off in System Preferences. On the left side of the finder window it shows "Favorites" and under that "Shared" pops up with what I assume are other computers nearby. These are not names of other computers in my house. These computer names pop up and come and go. They are the same two names. Underneath the "shared" names, my external drives show up under "Devices". My cable modem is connected to an Apple Airport Extreme router. Any ideas on why this "sharing" is showing up?Is my data secure?Â

Just recently Finder has stopped behaving as it normally would. Clicking the icon doesn't seem to launch the finder window. I have to right click the finder icon and then click New Finder Window. Sometimes there is no response for sometime and then finally it does open a window. If I click finder when a window is open it does not shift focus to finder anymore.

The CPU process has snowballed to the point that selecting a finder window is unreasonable . Safari is slow to absurdity , after emptying caches . Firefox & Camino are usable , so wildly better .
