OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Avoid Thunderbolt Update

Jun 13, 2012

I did the well-know thunderbolt upgrade, but I didn't reboot yet. I just let my MBP 2011 in sleep mode at night.I've already reinstalled os x lion a few days ago, and I need it to work, so I can't risk making the update. So Is there a way to avoid the thunderblot upgrade ? Like deleting the upgraded files or something ? I'm too paranoid to reboot (And there's still no fix ?)

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why Can't Mid-2011 Macbook Air Detect Thunderbolt 1.2.1 Update

Jun 21, 2012

I'm using a 13 inches mid-2011 macbook air with OS X 10.7.4 on 12 June, I found the update of Thunderbolt 1.2 in the system update center and I patched it. Luckliy, this patch didn't kill my kernel as it did to many other machines. But I'm still a bit worried when I learned that this updates messed up a lot of users' machines. Now applle announces the newer version of thunderbolt 1.2.1 to correct what was wrong. But no matter how hard I try to check system updates, I don't have it. I know I could try to download it on the website, but is there any valid reason that I don't get this patch? Will install in creating new problems?

Intel Mac :: Thunderbolt Update Crashes It?

Jun 12, 2012

After installing a bunch of updates; inluding iPhoto, iTunes and iMovie; the culprit seems to be the Thunderbolt thing. After the installation a message came up that none of the updates could be installed. There's only a Restart-Button — that doesn't restart the iMac. The screen has its grey login background and the Mac is stalled. About 10 minutes later I turned off the iMac and then turned it back on again. What lead to an instant Kernel Panic. I then reinstalled Lion from the Recovery HD, installed all the updates; which included two restarts that performed fine. In the final session there are the iPhoto and iMovie updates — and the Thunderbolt thing. Downloading and installing seems to work fine; but then I get the above mentioned message AGAIN.

MacBook Pro :: Kernel Panic After Thunderbolt Update

Jun 11, 2012

I have a one year old MBP.  A few minutes ago I installed the Thunderbolt Update that Apple released today.  At the conclusion of the update, it said it had failed to install and that I needed to restart the Mac.  On doing so, I got a kernel panic.  And now every time I try to boot, I get a kernel panic.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Avoid Opening Last Application / Window When Starting

Mar 3, 2012

I am currently using osx lion, I have a behaviour to shut down my computer and let the application that currently running closed by itself during shut down (including massive finder windows). But when I turn on my computer again, those windows reappears. While it might be a nice feature, its really bothering for me. Is it possible to tell osx lion NOT to open the last windows opened during shut down? I am also curious if its possible to do this on safari. I have limited bandwidth, and opening the last windows is annoying.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Apple Mail Settings To Avoid Re-download?

Apr 26, 2012

Apple Mail keeps re-downloading all Gmail messages, even those that I've already deleted. If I go to the preferences/advance, it is simply not clear to me which option to choose. What I would like is to have a syncronized, up-to date view at all times. If I delete something here, I would like it to be deleted from the server as well.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Create A Raid 1+0 Setup Across Daisychained Thunderbolt Harddrives?

May 15, 2012

I need more storage and need it to be quick and redundant

I'm concidering 2 of either the WD thunderbolt duo 6TB or the LaCie 2Big Thunderbolt 6TB. I want to set each 2disk unit to RAID 1 and then srtipe them as RAID0 accross thunderbolt to hopefully result in one striped and mirrored 6TB RAID volume

I'm hoping yes because i've seen 4 of the WB unit daisychained as one huge RAID0   but I'd like the redundancy. also i want the resultant volume in exFAT as I am constantly jumping between OSX and Win 7

MacBook Pro :: Late 2011 Lion Connected To Apple's Thunderbolt Display: Performance Very Low?

May 4, 2012

I have a MacBook Pro late 2011 with Lion installed. The Performance is less than I expected if compare with my old Macbook with Snow Leopard installed. Connect to Apple's Thunderbolt Display Performance goes doen to very, very, very, very slow. For Example to load a JPG in Preview it takes more than 30 seconds until 1 min to load. Same to start iWork like Pages or Keynote.Sometimes Safari freeze, loading images or loading plugins like flash animations. Generally Lion works with low performance and I wish Snow Leopard back. But my Mybook Pro late 2011 is not compatible to install Snow Leopard on it.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: 10.7.3 Update Causes MS Entourage To Hang/Take A Very Long Time To Update

Feb 8, 2012

I updated with the latest Lion patch yesterday and since then Entourage has either hung or taken a very long time to update from our 2003 Exchange server (I have MS Office 2011 but as you're probably aware, there are issues integrating with a 2003 Exchange server). how this might be fixed, short of updating both our 2003 Windows Server to Windows Server 2008 x64 and Exchange to 2010 so I (the only Mac user out of 85 staff) can use Outlook 2011?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: 10.7.4 Update Won't Update Properly, Has Caused Mail To Not Work

Started the 10.7.4 install, and it halted.  Turned my Mac off, started it back up, and apparently the 10.7.4 update didn't install, but it has caused the Mail function to not work AT ALL - I get a long error report that is auto sent to Apple.

I downloaded Lion from the Apple store, but have my Snow Leopard disk.  How do I go about re-installing Mail?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Software Update Can't Connect To The Update Server

Mar 24, 2012

"Software Update can't connect to the Update Server" - so I can't even check to see if updates are available. This has been going on for sometime. For a while if I created a new admin account and used that it would work, but not today.Tried creating a new admin account but to no avail.

I clcik on the Apple Icon, (top left hand side of screen), click on SOFTWARE UPDATE, it runs for a split second, then: [URL]after which I check my internet connect to see that it's fine. (And I attempt to run SU with nothing else using the internet). [URL] I've checked the forum and found a few people with the same problem. I've tried deleting PLISTs and using 008.008.008.008 DNS address, [URL], but still cannot get it to work. I still have my old G4 Power running OS 10.5.8 connected to the same modem (Netcomm NB6PLus4w Modem which has 4 ports) as my Mac Mini, and it runs Software Update without any issues. So it's not my internet connection and it's not the Apple server, so it's something about the Mac Mini that's not right.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: "Boot OS X" Drive After Attaching MBP To Thunderbolt Display?

Jun 2, 2012

Everytime I attach my running MBP (Lion, all Upgrades, etc.) to my Thunderbolt Display there is a drive called "Boot OS X" on my sceen. It looks like any other USB-Drive and is about 134,2 MB big. It appears to be empty, but I guess the files are just invisible. If I eject the drive there pops up this box, telling me that Boot OSX is just one of two partitions on the drive, and asks me wether to eject just the Boot Drive or both. I always hit the "Just Boot OSX"-button.

Hardware :: Magnetic Interference - How To Avoid It

Dec 8, 2008

Look at the photo that illustrates the speaker grill on the bottom of the display -- the wallpaper image has strange curved lines that look eerily similar to magnetic interference that could be caused by the magnets in the speakers. I emailed AI about this yesterday, but did not get a response - hoping to get clarification without creating unnecessary FUD, so I ask here in the open. What are those curved lines? Are they part of the image, or are they a flaw in the monitor.
