OS X V10.7 Lion :: No Sound After Login?

Mar 29, 2012

After i updated to 10.7.3, every time i boot my Mac, it plays the boot sound, but after i login there is no output devices so there is no sound on my Mac. I tried to find how to troubleshoot this issue but the only thing that i came across to solve it was restart and boot in Safe Mode and then reboot again in Normal Mode.

I need a permanent solution to this problem.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Get Sound Before The Last Update?

May 16, 2012

I have latest OS, latest safari & latest flash player installed. However when I go to sites with flash content I get no sound and the audio control is greyed out. (in both safari and firefox) I did get sound before the last os X update. If I go to same pages with my ipad, it uses a different player (i pressume html 5). How can I force safari / lion / webistes to use just html 5 (is this even possible ) and it plays sound fine.  I have tried unintalling flash but then I get no video as well.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: External ISight Has No Sound?

May 2, 2012

I recently purchased an original external iSight camera, and while the video works fine, the built-in microphone isn't picking up any audio at all. I've tested it in the Sound preference pane, iMovie, iChat, Skype, and Photo Booth -- nothing, no audio at all when I select it as the default audio input device.

I've read that older iSights don't work in FaceTime, but I'm getting zero audio input. Is this a Lion thing or should I assume there's a mic problem?

As a side note, I also tested it on a MacBook Pro running 10.6 with no better luck.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why Are The Sound Settings Not Holding

Jun 21, 2012

why the sound settings wouldn't be holding?  On my computer, I set the sound preferences to play from my USB connected speakers.  When the computer goes into sleep mode the sound setting reverts back to the default.  It is very annoying.  On my husbands computer it is the iChat alert sound preference that does it.  He has it set to an alert sound for when he receives a message.  We are both running Lion 10.7.4 and iChat version 6.0.2.

My preview app does not open, and a few days later, Lion stopped detecting my sound driver.

I have logged in as a guest user, and i have the same problem. My hard drive has been partitioned, and it recognizes the sound driver in windows, and when starting up, the sound driver works. Intel Mac :: No Sound On Cold Start After Upgrading To Lion

Mar 26, 2012

I am running the 27" iMac with dual hard drives and have recently upgraded to Lion. Two things are happening.

1. On cold start / boot up, my system has no sound. And by no sound I mean - no sound.  When I go to the Sound option in System Preferences, everything is greyed out and I can not adjust or access any of the controls. The only solution has been to immediately restart my computer. After restart, everything is fine.

2. On cold start / boot up, sometimes I receive a pop up telling me that TestGen is not installed properly and to please re-start. Of course, since I have no sound I'm automatically doing that.

Lastly, and I'm not adding this to the list because there is already a thread about it . . but I will mention it I am getting error messages trying to play certain videos "This video requires Quicktime which is not supported by this version of iTunes."The workaround is that you apparently have to delete the video from your Library -- DO NOT DELETE FILE FROM HARD DRIVE -- and re-add to your Library.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: IMac Sound Doesn't Work After Upgrade?

Jun 27, 2012

I have an Intel-based iMac which I just upgraded two days ago from Snow Leopard to Lion (10.7.4).  I did an upgrade-in-place (as opposed to a fresh install) and did a software update after the installation completed.  I have my computer scheduled to wake up each morning at 6 a.m.  When it wakes up, the sound doesn't work unless I reboot the computer.  If I open up iTunes and try to play music, there is no sound (unless I reboot).  The song progress meter at the top of iTunes won't even move when I hit the play button.  When I open the Sound preference and click the Output tab, I do see the Headphone port and the output volume is set all the way up.

OS X Mountain Lion :: 10.8.5 - Airplay Sound Fails On MacBook Air?

Sep 2, 2014

On my laptop, the Airplay refuses to ave sound.  First it was just with some web content, now it's all sound.

Menu Bar -> Airplay -> Mirroring On

Result:  Flawless video, no sound.

System Preferences -> Sound -> Output -> Apple TV

Result:  Selection pops to the last item, Airplay stops displaying on TV.  (Airplay on the mac thinks it's still working, but the Apple TV stops displaying.)

Rebooting doesn't work, pretty much nothing seems to have an effect.

Macbook Air

OS X 10.8.5 (all updates)

Firewall disabled

AirParrot installed but not active (has same issue, though)

Apple TV (all updates)

iOS devices work fine with the Apple TV

MacBook Pro :: Sound Output Device Stuck On Headphones - Other Sound Related Options ?

Dec 13, 2009

This started happening randomly earlier tonight, and I haven't managed to find a fix just yet.I was encoding a video file for quite awhile (I don't think that parts important, but I thought I'd include it anyway) and then I tried to play a youtube video. I noticed there was no sound, so I tried to up the volume using the Volume Up key on the keyboard. The volume visualisation appeared on the screen like normal (albeit a bit laggy), but the sound still didn't change, neither did I get the usual 'click' noise you get when you change the volume.I went looking into the sound options in the system prefs. only to find that the Output Sound device was headphones. For a test I plugged in some headphones to see what happened and, low and behold, the Output Sound device changed to the Internal Sound and my speakers were working again, but only with the headphones plugged in.
