OS X V10.7 Lion :: No Sound After Updating To 10.7.3 - Bootcamp Not Available
Feb 3, 2012
All sounds gone after updating to 10.7.3. Itried to reset NVRAM + PRAM via pressing (cmd)+(alt)+(p)+(r) while starting - this was not working. Found also the thread below, but i have no boot camp available [URL].
Info:
PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.7.2), update to 10.7.3
i am currently using snow leopard, and I am waiting for this summer to update to mountain lion. Right now, I need the a new feature of imovie for my project, so I am thinking about buying Life 11 at this moment. However, I just want to make sure that, will updating my OS X includes updating my imovie, iphoto and everything? If yes, then I probably dont need to buy Life 11 to update my imovie now/
Basically the Apple updater says that I need to reboot for the installation to complete. When I do nothing happens and 3.1 is still there. I tried downloading the file and it runs, the windows installer window comes up and then goes away. That's it.
After updating the last safari my "sent" sound won't work. Also my printer stopped working and my bank doesn't support that last update. I've been having all kinds of issues since I went to lion.
I've got the red light syndrome and while I once was able to fix it by jamming things in the headphone jack, that won't work anymore. I thought if I installed windows on this computer it would work or I would be able to override it somehow.
Here is the weird thing. When I plug a headphone jack while running windows, the speakers play sound for a second, then it goes to the headphones. There has got to be a way to override this crap.
also, have no applecare and don't wish to solve this problem with money thanks
i have installed win 7 x64 in a partition (230Mb) of my Imac 21,5" Core2Duo 1Tb ATI. I made the upgrade of Bootcamp from 3.01 to 3.1 but i still have no sound, no scroll in apple magic mouse, no Isight. What went wrong?
I recently used Boot Camp to create and install a Windows 7 partition on my MacPro. Windows runs fine except that I'm not getting any sound. This must be some kind of driver issue but I don't know where to turn.
I know this must be addressed here somewhere but I did a search and couldn't find a thread on it so I apologize in advance if this is a common question.
On my 2009 I've noticed now that after using bootcamp for a bit then booting back into os x that i have no sound available, there's no sound devices in preferences. This is using the line-out jack.
Tried looking all over for this but found nothing...
Anyone else having a problem with Windows XP recognizing Sound with BootCamp on the new MacPro? Anyone know how to set it up? I went into control panel and it won't let me do anything under the sound settings. I am using the Optical Out of the MacPro into my system.
So I've been following the MBP forum for their Audio Volume issues because we seem to have the same problem. Check out their issues here: [URL]
There is also an apple discussion here. [URL]
I have a Late 2008 MB running both Leopard and Boot Camp with Windows XP pro SP3. Under boot camp it uses the RealTek driver for the sound card. It is putting out very low volume. Many people have posted similar problems with Vista and windows 7.
Here's the test I did to confirm. I made a 1kHz test tone audio file and played it out of OS X. I connected the output of my headphone jack to a volt meter and measured a little over 1V or 1000mV. I switched to Windows and played the same file. This time I measured 280mV. This proves that the RealTek driver is not sufficient and does not measure up the full potential of the Macbook.
I've called apple on the issue and they say that it is not their problem and they do not support it. Even though they advertise that Windows is fully functional under boot camp. The solution for the MBP was that someone modified the INF driver file. Unfortunately, Apple uses a different chip in the MB and this solution will not work. I tried it.
I recently started using bootcamp and I can't seem to find out why my graphics card isn't recognized. I'm running vista home premium 32 bit and it recognizes the graphics card as a basic VGA. I installed the drivers and it still doesn't work.
I've got the latest MBP 13inch with Vista installed on Bootcamp. I've turned the sound all the way up and it's still very low. I've got all the latest boot camp drivers installed, I've tried viewing different videos trying to see if the video was the culprit, but unfortunately it wasn't. I searched around and I've seen others with this issue, but haven't found a fix.
I've watched the same videos in Leopard that I did in Vista and they're a lot louder.
I recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic through BootCamp on my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, except for the one thing that there's no sound... At the moment if i start something with sound, you'll see "the green bar jump up and down" But no sound... Tried to search for an audio driver, and installed one, (not sure which one it has to be though) But it didn't help...
Have tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling it again, same thing happened, when i put in the Max OS x for the driver installation i recall it saying removing Realtek Audio or something, so search for that, but didn't help :/
I just noticed that the sound of my 21.5" iMac speakers kinda changes notably when I'm using Windows (BootCamp). Compared to the sound while using Snow Leopard, it sound very thin, bass-less and... just strange. More like MacBook speakers, or just small speakers. Another thing is that the headphone input doesn't work on Windows. Could these issues be related to audio drivers? I don't know much about that sort of stuff.
I have 10.5.8 and I'd like to upgrade to 10.6.8 to play Diablo 3. It seems like I first have to buy and install 10.6 and then need to buy and install 10.7 to upgrade to the latest OS. That seems strange. Do I really need to buy each version? There isn't just one pack I can get?
Been using my new iMac now for a while, very impressed. Only problem i have had so far is the terrible sound quality experienced when using Windows via Bootcamp. The sound sounds very muffled or flat.
Have searched in numerous locations and the only answer found has been to install new realtek drivers. Even after doing this and fiddling with the EQ settings not much changes.
So my question is, has anybody had this problem and managed to fix it. After searching, there never seems to be a straight answer with a solution of what works and what doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW im using a 24" iMac, 3.06, with Windows XP SP3 fully updated.
I updated my apps a couple of days back. Now I'm not even able to use my microsoft word simple documents. I can't open my lesson plans, my homework, my kids pictures....nothing. What am I missing?
After Updating to 10.7.4 my mbp 2011 is experiencing many problems with the pre installed applications. Itunes, and App store, safari and even Software update all crash within seconds of been launched. .There is more, but decided not to post it unless its neccesary. Â Things I have tried already:
- Installed the combo update 10.7.4
- Verified disks: They are all good
- Installed a fresh update of itunes
- Checked for Flashback virus, and even installed java 2012 - 003.Â
I get this crash message: Â
Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â App Store [894] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /Applications/App Store.app/Contents/MacOS/App Store Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â com.apple.appstore Version:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 1.1.2 (92.8)
if you have recently reinstalled or updated Lion to 10.7.4, and you have come across the 'iPhoto needs you to update, in order to run' message when trying iPhoto. And, if you have followed the prompts only to be faced with no software to download... The solution is to manually update to iPhoto 9.1 and then to run the updater again. Version 9.3 will be offered and everything should be back to normal thereafter. [URL]

So i just recently installed COD4 in the windows part of my computer was playing it fine and great then all of a sudden the sound stopped woring i unistalled ALL the bootcamp drivers reinstalled them and to my avail it still didnt work my OS X partition works perfectly i dotn really know what else to try
When I run software update, it tells me my software is up to date. But I know for a fact it is not. I have Lion 10.7.2, and I know that 10.7.3 was released. Why won't my software update pick this up? Could it be because my internet connection is too slow and it could be timing out? I am overseas, so the wifi connection is pretty slow, just thought that may be it, but not sure.Â
I just updated my MacBook Pro to Lion. After install restart the computer is stuck on the white screen with the apple logo and spinning wheel. I manually restarted it after 1 hour but that didn't solve the issue. What do I do?
