how to permanently disable this? Since I installed Lion, my computer freezes about once a day (I have plenty of harddrive and RAM) and so I have to force restart it. It takes about 10 minutes for it to start up because of all the windows I always have open.

After I logged out of my account, I logged back in to see nothing on my desktop except for "Macintosh HD." I click on it and noticed that my home folder is mounted as a disk image under "Places." By "home folder" I meant the folder found at MacintoshHDusers ame-of-folder. I did not shutdown and login again, I logged out back to the main login screen, then logged in again under the same account. Shutting down the computer before logging in to the same account prevents this from happening, but logging out then logging back in causes it to happen.

After enabling the root user and logging into that account I tried to log back into my regular user and found that everything was set back to default. No files, pictures, anything...
Going into the Users folder I can see my account and it has all of the files on the desktop and such.
How do I log back into my regular user account with all of my settings?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSometime, Lion does not reopen ALL my applications and files after shutdown. It works very fine for Mail. However, Safari, Microsoft Word and TextEdit are problems. There are indicator lights for those applications showing under the docks. For example, when I click Safari, a new window and new tab will open. My previous tabs and windows are gone. It is killing since they are most likely important web pages for me.

I close all my programs before shutting down. Since installing Lion, programs I used recently relaunch when I start up the machine, sometimes the next day. No, I don't have "Start on Login" selected for these apps in the dock. Another weird thing: I selected a Word document to open, the app launched and the last document I was in also opened, even though I didn't select it.

I'm trying to get Back to my Mac working, but it's saying that I have more than one device that's using NAT, and to disable NAT on one of those devices.
I've attached a screen shot....
Here's my setup...
DSL Modem + DIR-655 (DLink wireless router).
Could both of those have NAT enabled? I obviously wouldn't be able to disable NAT on the modem if it does, but how do I do this on my router?
I've googled like crazy and I can't find the solution.
I've disabled both the DNS Relay and the DHCP server on my router.
The firmware of this router is 1.11. Should I update it?
I'm running Snow Leopard.
Why can't I get 802.11n speeds? I've attached a related screenshot. It says PHY Mode is wireless n, but the speed is only 54? Happens with every N router I try to connect to.
I have a Late 2006 MBP that I installed the Wireless-N Enabler on.
I recently installed windows 7 onto my MacBook air- big mistake, I cannot work out how to get back to OSX Lion and get rid of windows for good, anybody help?

I'm have an issue where when I login to my mac, it goes to a black/grey screen. It's definately on, but you just can't see anything. I'm think poss hard drive failure, but I'm not sure.
Earler this week, I noticed copying files from different devices and HDD, were particuarly slower that normal. Today the screen started to flicker quite eratically and I had to force a restart. It seem to be ok after that. However a few hours after, while I was doing some work, the screen just went a greyish black.
Each time I re-booted, it would either just go to a black screen as soon as it started up, or, get all the way the the desktop, then the black screen would appear.
I've reset the PRAM and SMC. I even got a Blue screen while halfway through performing a Hardware test. I've tried changing the memory modules and still no luck, safe mode fails too.
Could it be HD failure? Or something more servere like the logic board. I did the Java update today too, however, I'm sure the screen was flickering before that.

When I launch my Mac, I go through the login process, enter in my password, etc. The screen changes and I see my OS X desktop. Within 2-3 seconds, the screen goes gray and the little circular timer appears and after a minute or so, the screen turns off. This now happens every time I start my computer, and I cannot stop it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I disable the (Command + "Left or Right Arrow") Keystroke in Safari that navigates Back and Forward. If I could also disable the (delete) key from navigating back, I would be happy.
I edit text with these keystrokes all the time and now that I've upgraded to Lion and Safari 5.1.5 I run into problems with my workflow.
I just want (delete) to delete text and (Command + Arrow Key) to select a whole line of text.
I would like to be able to open files that I've worked on in Windows and be able to write back to the same disk. Is this possible? What do I need to do to make this possible?

I Googled around, and found a Microsoft forum post detailing how to do this. However, whenever I enter the command, I get an access is denied error.
bcdedit /set {current} bootstatuspolicy ignoreallfailures
That's the command, which I get the following error:
The boot configuration data store could not be opened. Access is denied.
Every time I try to log into my webmail from my computers or iPhone, I get an incorrect user name or password error message and haven't been able to receive my mail in my inbox. The server (Cox Communications) is telling me I need malware or spyware or whatever the heck one uses for this type of thing. I've never had to worry about that before but have recently posted items on Ebay, Craigslist and also a resume online which is about the time I seemed to start having problems with my server connection.
I have a 5s iPhone, an OSX Mountain Lion and a Lion and it is happening on all three devices
I am using Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25). I use dreamweaver a lot as a developer and it appears to crash many times a day.
While this could very well be an Adobe issue, once the app crashes and I force quit it, it will not open again.
After it completely shuts down, I try and reopen it and it will just bounce and eventually stop without opening.
Is there any command line I can run to clear whatever is happening on restart so I dont have to restart multiple times per day to just continue using the app?

I would like to disable the effect that causes application and software windows like Finder windows and Microsoft Word to "swoop" into and out of the dock.
My preference is to have these windows simply "cut" into and out of the dock without the swooping effect.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Boot Camp set up so Parallels Desktop can access it. Trouble is, whenever I boot up using Parallels, Windows Activation fails. If I boot up in Boot Camp, and reactive, all is fine. Rather annoying - Windows functions fine (as far as I'm aware) when the activation fails, but it just means that I have to keep closing the popup box that appears. Best way to sort all of this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI posted earlier about if I can use both a Nvidea 8800 GT and an ATI Radeon 2600 XT with my new Mac Pro. Currently it just has an ATI card and it seems like it'll work fine. The other question I have though, how will this work under VMWare? I have a Linux virtual machine but most of all I use a Windows XP Virtual Machine. Will there be a conflict between the two video cards when I use Windows XP? If so, I won't even need the ATI as much when I'm on Windows XP. Is it possible to disable that and just use the NVidea card while using Windows?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHere is my problem. Whenever I start up in mac osx, the boot camp volume that has windows vista on it automounts. I always unmount it but then when i restart, the volume is right there again. I was wondering if there was any way to disable it from automounting because I know I can just change which os I want to start up in with the "option" button. If there is a process, could someone be really specific cause I'm still quite new to the mac.
