OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Home Folder Mounted After Logging Out Then Logging Back-in?
May 27, 2012After I logged out of my account, I logged back in to see nothing on my desktop except for "Macintosh HD." I click on it and noticed that my home folder is mounted as a disk image under "Places." By "home folder" I meant the folder found at MacintoshHDusers ame-of-folder. I did not shutdown and login again, I logged out back to the main login screen, then logged in again under the same account. Shutting down the computer before logging in to the same account prevents this from happening, but logging out then logging back in causes it to happen.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Black Screen When Logging In?
Apr 14, 2012I'm have an issue where when I login to my mac, it goes to a black/grey screen. It's definately on, but you just can't see anything. I'm think poss hard drive failure, but I'm not sure.
Earler this week, I noticed copying files from different devices and HDD, were particuarly slower that normal. Today the screen started to flicker quite eratically and I had to force a restart. It seem to be ok after that. However a few hours after, while I was doing some work, the screen just went a greyish black.
Each time I re-booted, it would either just go to a black screen as soon as it started up, or, get all the way the the desktop, then the black screen would appear.
I've reset the PRAM and SMC. I even got a Blue screen while halfway through performing a Hardware test. I've tried changing the memory modules and still no luck, safe mode fails too.
Could it be HD failure? Or something more servere like the logic board. I did the Java update today too, however, I'm sure the screen was flickering before that.

Jun 20, 2012When I launch my Mac, I go through the login process, enter in my password, etc. The screen changes and I see my OS X desktop. Within 2-3 seconds, the screen goes gray and the little circular timer appears and after a minute or so, the screen turns off. This now happens every time I start my computer, and I cannot stop it.

Apr 12, 2012how to permanently disable this? Since I installed Lion, my computer freezes about once a day (I have plenty of harddrive and RAM) and so I have to force restart it. It takes about 10 minutes for it to start up because of all the windows I always have open.

Jun 21, 2014Every time I try to log into my webmail from my computers or iPhone, I get an incorrect user name or password error message and haven't been able to receive my mail in my inbox. The server (Cox Communications) is telling me I need malware or spyware or whatever the heck one uses for this type of thing. I've never had to worry about that before but have recently posted items on Ebay, Craigslist and also a resume online which is about the time I seemed to start having problems with my server connection.
I have a 5s iPhone, an OSX Mountain Lion and a Lion and it is happening on all three devices

May 7, 2009I ran the terminal command to show hidden files and folder. I then restarted finder to expose those files.When I was done, I entered the terminal command to hide hidden files and folders. Typed in "killall Finder," but then nothing happened. My hard disk disappeared from my desktop and the light below the finder turned off.

Jan 7, 2010I am getting is that when a student logs into the machine (with a managed account), they come to log out and the apple menu disappears but the dock remains and log out does not happen. I either have to switch off using the button/pulling the plug, or by putting the computer into standby, then switching user to log in as someone else (either standard account or admin) and I am then able to log out/restart/shutdown. The problem never happens when logged in as a standard user or admin...

Nov 2, 2009At the airport I managed to drop my computer bag and the screen on my unibody 15" MBP is cracked (2.4 GHz Core 2). It seems it is only the glass lens that is cracked, the screen works fine.
My questions are:
1. How much would Apple charge to repair (UK)? The MBP is less than one year old and I have Applecare but I know accidental damage is not covered
2. If I go with a third party repair, would that void my warranty?
3. Is this something I could do myself if I bought a glass screen on eBay? I am fairly good with this stuff but again would I void my warranty?
OS X :: Not Managed To Register Domains - Website Keeps Timing Out
Nov 11, 2009I am a web designer, I got my first mac a few months ago and its a lot easier to get my work done now! I register my domain names via Godaddy.com and things have been fine until a few weeks ago, I started work on 2 new websites at 10am this morning, it is now 16:04 and I still have not managed to register the domains! The godaddy website keeps timing out, it works fine on my partners windows laptop, but it times out nearly every time on my Mac Mini, this is both on Firefox and safari.
Normally if I restart my mac and it will let me register the domains after a few refreshing of the pages. Or sometimes when it keeps timing out in firefox I try in safari and it works for a bit. But today neither of them are working, I got right to the payment page and it wont let me go any further, it just keeps timing out on me. I have cleared my cache a few times and that hasn't made a difference.
MacBook Pro :: University Managed Gmail Account Won't Add To Mail 7.3
Jun 4, 2014I am having a problem adding one of my university managed Gmail accounts to Mail 7.3 on my Macbook Pro. I have two that I use regularly, @oakland.edu and @albion.edu, and I was able to sync @oakland.edu with no issues. However, Mail will not recognize the @albion.edu gmail account and gives this message:
I have tried to override and trust the certificate and that didn't work. I also tried adding the incoming/outgoing IMAP servers manually and that didn't work. IMAP is enabled in the @albion.edu acount. It added to Mail on my iPhone 4S with no problems, so I don't know what else to do.

I have tried iMovie and i managed to remove a portion I did want. But, now im not able to save the movie after i have edited that portion. Seems like it just keeps it as "my project." any help regarding how I can manage this.The i7 works fast with this but it takes me forever trying to figure this out!

Uncheck Copy Items to iPhoto, create a new iPhoto library, and import the images from the new location. However, I am afraid that all of the metadata (keywords, location), events, faces, etc will not get transferred to the new library.

Jul 6, 2012I'm setup a master image in Lion on a MacBook Pro and sucessfully created the image and hosted it up on as a NetRestore. In this image I made a local account that I call "Local Adminisrator" with the short name "ladmin" and I use this account to install all my applications under and also set user settings like finder views, dock icons, turn off resume, turn off backwards scrolling and all those things. Typically in Snow Leopard after I have done this, these settings took affect under other users.
You may be thinking, why not just set user prefrerences under Workgroup Manager and the reason I havn't done this is my server runs Snow Leopard Server and its scheduled for upgrade for the mountain lion release. So far how I've hosted the NetResore images is in a Virtual Machine running on an iMac I have lying around.
So my question is: is there any I can create all user settings under lion in my one administrator account and then have these settings be applied for all the users? It seems like Lion just goes back to the defaults whenever a new user logs in from either active directroy or open directory,

I?m connectting from 2600xt via dvi-hdmi through a hdmi cable. Without the switch there?s no problem.
Q: Is it possible to by bypass Dual-link DVI, so that my hdmi-switch only receives a Single-link DVI signal?

OS X :: Parental Controls Bypass?
Feb 16, 2009I noticed that my in-laws 13-year old kid spends all his time glued to their iMac. I know that his user-account has parental controls enabled, and his computer-time is limited. I talked with him about it, and he mentioned that "Those time-limits are useless, since I can easily bypass them". He wouldn't tell me how he does it, though.
So, how could he bypass the controls? I'm asking because I would like to be able to plug that hole (if possible), so he would do something else than sit by the computer all the time.
"Discussing" the matter with a frigging 13-year old who thinks he knows everything is next to useless.
Alternatively: is there a third-party parenting-app that would offer more robust features that the OS X built-in toold do?
OS X :: Screensaver Bypass Code?
Mar 18, 2009I have a MacBook I usually bring to work. My co-workers and michevious and always try to change my background, etc.
I leave on my screensaver password. I close the lid to my laptop to initiate the password protect.
So last night I came back from lunch, open up my MacBook and my co-worker comes next to me, it seems like she put a code, and then unlocked my MacBook.
It's either 1.) She know's my password or 2.) there's a bypass code because she typed something and it unlocked.
Anyone know how to hack it?

From what I know and see, there are ways to bypass the firewall. Does anyone know how to do it? When I try and connect something else to the port it says I have to pay another $50 to get 3 more mac code places. Is there anyways around this? Can I change the mac code of other machines? I have tried creating an airport on my mac and sharing the Ethernet port connection which only get's the message "buy more mac code slots..." on what ever connects to my airport.
