I have a 17" MBP. (2009) How do I set the default size of all the windows? Every time I open a program a rather small window with minuscule fonts opens, so I would like to set some kind default to make it easier on my old eyes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know that I can right-click (er, two-finger click) when I'm in a folder and set things like "Arrange By" / "Sort By" / "Icon Size" and then click "Use as Defaults," but it seems to only apply these to the new folders I create after I apply these settings (if they're applied at all, I'm having trouble figuring out what "Use as Defaults" even accomplishes.)
But I've already moved a ton of folders over from my old laptop, and they've got some seriously wonky view settings. There would be 3-4 folders right on top of one another, and then the folder I'm looking for is in no-mans-land 600 pixels to the right. It's a mess
I want every folder on my computer ever and forever to snap to grid, arrange by kind, and "float" to the top left (no gaps between files - fill'er'up!). How can I do this without going into every single folder and changing the settings individually?
(On another related note, is it possible to force folder contents to fit the window size? I dont want to have to scroll horizontally to see a folder's contents when I resize it.)

I'd like all my finder windows to appear the same when navigating through folders, but I'm noticing that finder is not always taking notice of the "set as defaults" button. The way I've tried to do it is to open a finder window and push cmd+J. I prefer the list view, so I check the "always open in list" box, set the icon size and uncheck "icon preview".
However, as I navigate deeper into folders, I notice some folders will no longer remember these and for example, will start to show the icon preview. In Windows, I remember you used to set up a random window to appear exactly how you wanted it, enter folder options and hit "default view for all windows".
I want to reset every view options on every finder window to their default. Then make every window have 128 x 128 icons minimal grid spacing and size 10 text. Is there any quick way to do this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedApple, you broked it AGAIN!! You're getting tired of hearing this but Fix The ********** Finder!!!
When I set a view option and then click "Use as default" it doesn't apply to all the folders throughout the system. This worked every time in Leopard like Billy D. Williams' Colt .45, and now? BROKED!
Come on Apple! You do a great job at making things work, such so that we have to bring ourselves to THIS! Batching about so little an issue as not applying my pretty background color to all my windows! If you're going to break something at least break something worth fixing!
Anybody heard of a fix for this?

For viewing regular email, I know I can use the Command and "=" to increase the size, but that does not work on the drafting window. how to increase the font size I view when drafting. (Just to be clear, this is just for my viewing -- I am not interested in changing the font in the email that is sent (I know how to do that).)

They have added the "See More from xxxxxxx" in the middle on the converations view pane.Â
How can you have those always automatically expand? It's a super pain, because every single conversation I have to look at what I last wrote.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Lion long enough now that it feels normal. I just got interested in organizing things using multiple desktops and started reading about how things work. I continue to see references to a 'three-fingered-swipe'. My older macbook doesn't seem to know what this is. I check Preferences for Trackpad and it doesn't have most of the options mentioned in various posts I've seen. Is this because my macbook is too old and the hardware doesn't support it?Â

usually I'm using Internet with WLAN-connection. Sometimes I want to connect my mac additionally with the LAN on work. As soon as I plug in the ethernet, there is a new item in the routing table, so I have two default-gateways - one to the WLAN-router and one to the standard-gateway of my work's LAN. Â
So for example I cannot take new mails from my private pop-account and for using internet I have to register a proxy-server. That's circuitous!Â
My idea is to create a plist-file in launchDaemons-directory, that deletes the default-gateway-item to my work's standard-gateway and adds a net-route to this only for my work's network.Â

I noticed my VPN connections overrides the default route set by my WiFi connection. With an active VPN I can browse my office network but not the WWW. When I type in terminal …Â
sudo route delete default
sudo route add -net default 192.168.2.1
sudo route add -net 192.168.178.0 192.168.178.201Â
… I can access (via VPN) my office network and can still browse in the WWW. Is there any way I can prevent to override the default route when establishing a VPN connection (IPSec Cisco via Network > Add VPN)?Maybe I can create an AppleScript or something like that?Â
192.168.2.1 = local network (home)
192.168.178.1 = remote network (office)
192.168.178.201 = remote virtual client IP

Noticing odd behavior even with the recent update to Lion last week. First off my apps are forgetting which window I designated for them. Second iPhoto 11 9.2.3 keeps asking me if I want iPhoto to be the default program when I plug a digital camera to my Mac Pro. It also resizes itself to default ratios.

I am bilingual, and use two languages on my Mac - English as default, and Russian as secondary. After the update to 10.7.4. every time I log back in (have a password on my Mac Pro), all the programs have Russian language. For example, I open a Chrome window to start typing in the web address, and it writes in Russian language. I cannot remove Russian language, as I use it as much as English language. But I would like to have English as default like I am used to. I have checked in the Preferences, everything is as it used to be, primary English, and secondary Russian. But the problem persists even after the reboot, changes in the Preferences.
It is not hard to switch between the languages, it is just annoying to expect the machine run in English, and then see the other language, and switch.
P.S. Besides, the English language icon is became more dull after the update. Not that I complain, just want to know if it is normal or there IS the problem with languages on my Mac.Â

How do I changing the default WIKI Server name on OS x Lion Server?
Info:Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
Just upgraded a Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server 10.7.3 and the Web Service works along with all of my virtual hosts BUT the default site that shows isn't the one that Server.app says should show, its the first virtual host that shows.
I've tried adding "ServerName myserver.mydomain.com" params into the 0000_any_80_.conf which hasn't worked. Anyone know a workaround for this? Can't use the Wiki or Webmail without it.
