OK, so my email has been changed to a new account. Told to keep old account and settings on computer as to not lose old emails on mac.
Set up new account with same email (some password security errors side) but now cannot change to new account to sent emails as mail only lets me select the email address to send from and not the mail account.
Through the years I've clicked this, over and over: "If you prefer not to receive commercial email from Apple, or if you've changed your email address, please click here." I'm trying to detect a pattern. I suspect that every time our family buys a new apple product we are hit with advertisements. I recently bought a new iPod Touch. I wonder if this is why the offer from apple to leave me alone fails, over and over.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Air running Mavericks on a HFS partition and Windows 7 on a BOOTCAMP NTFS partition. I have some files that I want to read/write from/to both systems. Since OS X can't write NTFS and Windows can't write HFS either, and I don't want to use any 3rd-party tools/drivers, in OS X, I copy those files from NTFS to its HFS partition, make changes, then switch to Windows and sync them back to NTFS.
The problem is, after I copied a file from NTFS to HFS in OS X, it seemed ok. But when I switched to Windows, the very copied file in HFS partition had its size changed (bigger) although I didn't make any changes to it in OS X yet. This happens to almost every file I copied, text and binary. For those text files, I tried to open it with EditPlus in Windows and EditPlus reports the correct size on the status bar.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use gmail through my Mac Email, I have it synced up. My contacts are labeled as my friends names, for instance Joe Smith, would just be "Joe." Every time I email someone, their name automatically changes, and the last name is added, so Joe, is now Joe Smith. On the surface this doesnt seem like a terrible problem, but a lot of my friends I call by their last name, so if Joe Smith was entered under Smith, after I send an email, he is now "Smith Smith." In addition this change translates over into GMail, and my GChat contact would now be named Smith Smith or do I just have to label everyone with their first and last names?

I am receiving emails every time my wife makes a change to her calendar which I am subscibed to. This did not happen before we recently upgraded our phone software, maybe thats involved, maybe not. I have checked and it appeears all of the boxes are unchecked that say "send email when there's a change". She is making the changes on her Macbook Pro.

They have added the "See More from xxxxxxx" in the middle on the converations view pane.
How can you have those always automatically expand? It's a super pain, because every single conversation I have to look at what I last wrote.

When I right click on a group, and click "send to...", none of the email address show up in the TO field, only the name of the Group appears.Previously, I used mac mail and clicking "send to" group would result in all email addresses going right where they're supposed to go.I don't know how I changed the client to Gmail, but if I can't get it to work, I'd like to switch it back.

I use a NAS for backups and external storage.At some time in the past week, my backup operations stopped working, and I think I have tracked down the source of the problem. Somehow, an "extension" got added to the disk name (I did not do this and I am not sure how it happened).The disk name (Cosmos) has not changed, but when right click and choose "get info", in the "Name and Extension" section, the disk shows up as Cosmos-1. Unfortunately, the name is greyed out and I can't change it.Does anybody know how I can remove the -1 extension and change the name back to Cosmos so that my backups see the disk again?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just formatted my MBP and when I resynchronised Mail with my Yahoo a/c, the way Mail appears is a bit different from how I had it. I have OSX 10.7.3 and Mail 5.2.
I am unable to:
1. Get the headers of 'To, From, Flag, Size, Date' etc that would appear above my mails. Now I just see all my mails in a bunch, one above the other, without any header to them (I thought this was a simple case of changing some 'View' menu item, but I am unable to figure it out.
2. In Mail Preferences, it continues to show 'Microsoft Outlook.app' as default mail reader even if i change it to Mail.app. It reverts back to Outlook every time i reopen the Preferences window.

I have a problem after updating to 10.7.4. It seams that the red color has changed after the update. I can notice it in the US flag for the keyboard layout. I have no idea what to do. I have tried to use different color profiles and calibrate the monitor, but nothing helped. I think maybe it is connected with the fact that I didn't disconnect the external monitor while the update process.
I had an issue with the red color before while I connected external display and used only it. After I disconnected the display the red color changed itself. At that time the reboot only helped. But recently I started to use both displays of my macbook pro and external one and the issue with red color did't appear any more. And now after the update the red color has changed and I don't know how to return it back.
I've just made a clean install of Lion on monday and everything was perfect. Now I don't want to do it again. It took the full day of setting my system. I don't have time for the second time. I need to Work! I have MacBook Pro 17" of mid 2009. The external display that I use is Dell 2408WFP.

Suddenly today when I open a folder on my desktop, the appearance has changed. Instead of a list of the documents inside, it has the whole seven column presentation of everything in my computer. Folders in the hard drive haven't changed, still just a list.
