OS X V10.7 Lion :: Find Out The Printing Protocol Used For A Printer?
Jun 8, 2012In System Preferences > Print & Scan, double-click a printer and click on the Printer Setup button. Under the General tab, in Snow Leopard it used to list the printing protocol / url used to connect to a printer. In Lion it doesn't show that information anymore. Is there a way to still find out what protocol the print queue is trying to print via?

Hardware :: Not Printing In Color Through Airport Express?
May 30, 2009I just hooked up my Samsung CLP-600 Color Laser Printer to the Airport Express in the other room, configured everything so my Airport Extreme was talking to it and I made a connection, and I print. It works, great! Problem is, for some very strange reason, it only prints in black & white. I don't even know how that's possible!
The file is in color. It's a Pages doc. I even exported to a PDF and tried printing from that. Same thing -- no color.
I'm sure the printer has color ink because I just told it to print a demo page and it prints it in beautiful color.

Jun 3, 2014I have a MacBook Pro, operating system Maverick 10.9.3 and cannot print a Pages template form in color on my HP 8600 printer. The border of the document is in color, but prints grey. Is there a glitch between Pages and Maverick, Pages and the printer or what?

- Works well with OSX
- Small footprint is a plus, but not a dealbreaker
- If it has a scanner that would be nice, but not required
- I don't really care about WiFi printing
I'm going to use the printer mostly to print out reports and long pdf documents. I don't really care for photo printing.

Apr 14, 2010I find the printing options are a little dry. Whenever I attempt to print something online or from Preview the only options that are available to me is selecting the number of copies, the page ranges, etc. (after clicking the blue arrow).
how to easily select specific pages to print or even just selecting options like "Even pages only" or "Odd pages only"?
Hardware :: Epson 3800 - Dull And Flat Color Printing From Mac
Nov 14, 2008I have a Epson 3800 and I have been printing a PSD file from my windows laptop and everything works fine, checked colour profile and everything is the same. The Mac has CS4 and the laptop CS3, I let the printer handle the colours. When I print from the Mac the colours come out dull and flat. I am using Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper 13 X 19. Just wasted 2 sheets plus ink!

Dec 2, 2014What is happening to my computer. This is the 2nd time it does this: all of a sudden the screen becomes black with reverse fluo colors.
I have to force quite with the push button & restart it. I repaired the permissions & restarted it. It's working again, but I am wondering if I have an alien in it.

Jun 7, 2009I have a Mac model from about mid-2006 that came with Tiger, and I just installed Leopard recently. I wanted to play some PC games, so I installed XP using boot camp. But all the colors are distorted and wrong. It looks a lot like this, (http://www.hylobatidae.org/minerva/s...-computers.jpg) but on the XP side all the time. I tried resetting the PRAM, but that didn't help. I think my video card is an ATI Radeon X1600.

Current set upCable modem to Airport Extreme - hardwired to house PC. Wireless to Imac, G5 mac, xbox 360, ipad - all works with excellent signal and speed.Printer located on 2nd floor by Mac G5 and printed via wireless before airport extreme and will not print. There is no way we can set up the air port at the G5 with the printer or move the printer to airport extreme. Does the printer have to be USB connected to work - we just want to transmit to the wireless printer with no connection.

Feb 20, 2009before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.

May 24, 2010How do you do a Find and Replace in Pages when you want to change the color of the font. For example, for every instance of the word Apple, you change it to BOLD and in RED. Changing the style is no problem but changing the color is. You can do this easily in Microsoft Word.

Mar 25, 2010I noticed my "spotlight" icon has a pulsing dot in the center of the magnifying glass icon....when I click on it there is a progress bar and it is perpetually "indexing" my hard drive.
Whats this mean? Is my HDD going to fail? Its been going on like this for months. Running Drive Utility, Techtool or Disk Warrior doesn't fix it.
I fixed permissions and repaired the disk off the Snow Leopard book disk, problem persists.

Sep 11, 2010Four years ago I bought the iMac I am using right now, I was a PC user (actually used Macs in the 90s) and I never knew if I was doing things properly. Since I am buying a new iMAc next week I need to know how to organize folders.
In my current iMac I have all my applications in the applications folder, I think that is ok. But for example, for my Photoshop and Flash projects I have made a folder in the Macintosh HD with my name and inside that folder I have many other folders. How should I organize my work? Should I put them in the documents folder or what?

Jan 9, 2011I've tried many options and none I felt were that stellar: Cha Ching (now gone), MoneyWell, Money, iBank. iBank I stuck with the longest, actually, but it's really getting on my nerves because the interface is crappy in some spots. The programmers just have no clue about good user interface design, and it's frustrating as hell. Plus they don't listen to input.

Mar 4, 2009I tend to just leave my new Mac Pro on all the time so I don't have to re-open apps and get all my windows back into their proper Spaces, but I wonder if there's an easy way to disable the internet while I'm not using it, short of disconnecting the ethernet cable. I go into system preferences>displays>color and try to adjust color on my monitors but selecting different color settings on either monitor only affects ONE monitor, the other monitor is essentially stuck at whatever color setting it is set to.

Jun 7, 2012I am having problems printing pdf files off the web. These are past exam papers which are stored on the website. When I try to print the first page is often blank or contains a coloured box which is part of a logo on the website but the text included is missing.
When I try to open on preview I get completely blank pages. The websiteis a secure website.
I'm using a canon isensys LBP7750 with UFR ii driver. I read in the printer utility help desk that it may not work with Adobe reader v 6.0. I have downloaded the most recent printer drivers and Adobe software. I tried running PostScript but the printer just keeps pausing.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Slow Printing On 10.7.3?
Mar 13, 2012I just upgraded to 10.7.3 from 10.6.8 on my Mac Pro (3,1). Since then, I have had to wait a couple of minutes (with a spinning beach ball) just to print. During that time, the print dialog box is frozen. It doesn't matter whether the output is a network laser printer, a USB inkjet or even a PDF file. And it doesn't make a difference with the application. I have tried using generic printer drivers, reinstalling lion from the recovery drive, using DiskWarrior and Disk Utility to repair the drive, repairing disk permissions and using the combo update. I originally installed Lion from the App Store. I have a Macbook Pro with Lion that has no trouble printing over Air Port Extreme on the same laser printer.
