OS X V10.7 Lion :: Combining Multiple Weights Of The Same Font Into One Family?
Apr 18, 2012
I downloaded (legally) a font family, containing multiple weights. However, when I try to install it on Font Book, each weight comes out as a separate font. Is there a way to combine all the weights into one font?
I have a few PDF files, some of which have A4 portrait pages in them and others have A4 landscape pages in. Is there any software (ideally free) that can combine these files into one single PDF file?
I just received some fonts from a professor, specifically a very nice set of Helvetica Neue. I tried to install the font using Suitcase and I get a warning sign saying that the name of the new font conflicts with that of the Mac OS X System Font that is necessary for reading text. I'm wondering how to get around this...? Can I have both versions of Helvetica Neue installed, or do I have to deactivate the system font?
I have a MAC OS LION and our lawyer uses the font "Garamond". Unfortunately the version which is in my mac does not support some of the "Czech-special characters". How do I make my Mac or Office Word use Arial instead of Garamond so I can read it correctly?
Being a recent convert from Windows and Outlook, I'm struggling to keep track of my emails on my Macbook Air as related messages get grouped together and stored under a single item. Is this setting configurable in some way and, if so, how do I manage it?
I usually had spotlight search disabled, cause I don't really use the search at all .. well that was until yesterday I was looking for a file on the backup drive. Needless to say it took quite a while to find it, so I went back to considering spotlight again.
Long story short I switched on indexing for both the local disk (160GB) and the USB Backup Disk (1.5TB) and left spotlight running over night .. it is not quite there yet .. but the index is already almost 40Gb in total .. that is 20GB locally and then another 19GB on the USB disk.
So my question .. is that normal? Does spotlight store the index of the external disk locally again? I can't imagine the index of the ~100GB I have stored locally to be that big ..
Is it something normal while indexing and will reduce itself when it is done?
People usually report their indexes well below 1GB for larger disk than I use here at least that was what I found googling.
Q: What is the best way to load Lion on to multiple family computers? We have 2 iMacs, one Mac mini and one Mac Book Pro. I downloaded Lion to the newest iMac but now I need to bring my other machines into line preparing for Mountain Lion.
When I open pages it always uses helvetica as the default font. Can i set it to a different one like times new roman as a default.I mean you can tell it to start up by default to a specific page style, why not a specific font also?
I just got some internet going again after having moved. I've had my new Octopus for a few weeks tho. So much to my surprise, I open up my gmail account and it's practically unintelligible. Some weird cartoon like font is my default font. As far as I can tell, all the default fonts are activated and all the settings point to the activated fonts, but this is driving me absolutely F__KING bonkers. Has anyone ever had this problem? Now to be fair, I did install some fonts from a semi questionable font disk a week or two ago, so maybe some rogue font has hijacked my web fonts.
I installed some fonts in font book yesterday, and right after i did, the text in safari is messed up (see photo below) I already reset safari, and that didn't work.
I have an old imac swivel head g4 and am about to get a mac mini intel.
I use my computer mostly for watching movies and editing video with FCP.
Can I link the two together to shorten rendering time or get any benefit out of the two machines working together or should I sell the g4 for $20 and buy a dvd to watch on my new mini?
For some reason, the font Arial is not showing up in my documents, most notably Office documents. The folder is there in my Fonts Library and the standard system fonts check out ( I ran the restore standard font function), but still it does not show up. I am running OS 10.7.
I recently ripped my Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD to my computer so i can back it up, and in the VIDEO_TS folder there are 5 different parts. The problem is, English is the default track for only 2 of them. The other ones are in different languages, and for me to put it into english i have to change the trach from track 1 to 2 in VLC.
How do i combine all of them, keeping it as english?
I have 2 mac minis at my fingertips. I've done a bit of we scanning and had some very foggy info so I thought I'd see my self. Is it possible to use both my macs as 1 doubly strong computer, a sort of 'merging' thing.
I mean this: [URL]. One of the greatest features of Lion I like is the pop-up dictionary. Since I am not a native English speaker, I use this feature a lot, and it is very convenient. But the only thing that bugs me is that I cannot find any way to customise it. The black text on the translucent gray background makes it difficult to read depending on the background of the application. I want to change the background colour and the opacity. The text is too small. It does not change with the text size of the application. I want to enlarge the text size. Is there any way to achieve this or is this another example of Apple's infamous use-it-as-it-is-or-get-lost feature?
I have a document in which I need Old English characters such as thorn, eth, ash and yogh. I have installed Junicode and it shows up in my font book, displaying all the characters I need under 'repertoire'. However, if in the word document, I go on INSERT/SYMBOL, the menu only displays a minimal number of characters and certainly not the ones I need. (This is where, on my PC, I had been able to choose the respective character and assign it a shortcut).Â
Any way to increase this? With my screen at full resolution the print is very small and gives me headaches very quickly, so I have to set it to 1920x1080. I switched to Imac for processing photographs, so the advantage of a good quality screen is somewhat wasted. Also, at the lower resolution, the print is not so sharp.
Using a new macbook pro and can't find a way to change the font style for folders displayed on the desktop.  Running Lion. The font for folders on the desktop currently uses a shadow effect and it's hard to read.
Font Book has identified several problems with my fonts during validation. They are Postscript Type 1 fonts that I need to use on my new Mac Mini under OSX 10.7.3. What is 'FOND' font association usability? What is 'FOND' bounding box usability? What is 'FOND' offset usability? and why can't I use my fonts on the new Mac as easily as I can on my current Mac (OS 10.4.7)?
Is it possible to increase the size of the font in AddressBook? I know you can temporarily increase the size of the phone # but I'm interested in a larger font for entire entries.Â
