So I insert the disc on my mac...nothing happens. So I go into the disc click on the adobe LR 4 .pkg...and it asks to pick a program to "open it with"!what do I do? I don't know what to pick...never had to before. I picked Adobe reader...and ofcourse that didn't work.

Since I installed 10.7.3 Lion update, I can't install any program or game that I bought for Mac OS system. I get some kind of error like "power pc applications are not supported.....". I had'nt recieved this kind of error before I updated my Mac. Why?What will happen to all of the games that I bought such as warcraft, diablo?

I bought Sketch 2 from the App Store two days ago. After working less than an hour it froze and I had to restart my Mac. After that every attempt to start Sketch gives an immediate crash. I submitted the error report to Bohemian Coding (the author) but no reaction so far.I downloaded the trial version from their site: it seems to work but it lasts only 14 days. I asked Bohemian Coding for a license key but I got no reaction.
I tried to reinstall following the method described elsewhere in the support forum. Unfortunately, that leaves me with 1) Sketch deleted, 2) App Store still mentions it as "installed". No way to download it a second time. It disappeared from my "purchased" list in App Store.

Like the first month, it started freezing. when it freeze, I can't do anything but turn it off and on again.Now, I took my laptop to the store about five times for same problem-could have been more if I had time to go to apple store.They reset the computer at first, did many disk repairing, replaced with new hard drive, replaced with new hard drive cable, and did 24 hour diagnose. Still cannot figure out what is causing the problem.Since I've took my laptop so many times, I asked for replacement with new laptop. They told me that they cannot do anything unless I contact apple care and have evidences.But even if I have evidences, apple store have to able to duplicate the problem. Another problem is that it happens so randomly. I could be using just textedit, itunes, or nothing.

He upgraded his OS by buying it on the App store. Now he has a weird screen at start up We would like to run Apple Hardware Test on the install DVD but as mentioned he bought it from the App store.The only file we get is an installer (4.2 GB) but it is not a start up disk.

It probably is the most stupid question ever... but I have a copy of Microsoft Office 2004 on a disc (it is not the original one which is a long story) and can use it at the moment from the disc on my Macbook Pro laptop OSX 10.6.8, although I have yet to figure out how to actually install it onto the hard drive.

I don't know the exact specs of my computer but it is the macbook just before the new ones came out from stock, so no parts are replaced/upgraded. Literally 10 minutes ago my computer was running fine and I was installing this program called JACK because one of my audio programs I run needed it. So after I installed it told me to restart so I did. then when I did it booted up into my empty windows partion, now it's a long story why I have a partion without windows installed but we can talk about that later. So naturally I was like "crap" and restarted but I forgot which button was to choose the start up disk so I held control-option-command hoping one of them would register... nothing happens. And now whenever I try to restart my computer I just get to the gray screen. I have tried every safe-startup-command-line thing out there and I don't get past the grey screen. If I hold down option/alt then I get a mouse(yay) but nothing else. If I hold down the mouse button then I get stuck at the apple symbol. So my question is if anyone has had similar problems and has fixed them. Oh ya, I also don't have my install disk with me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new IMac 20 for my home office and I had it set up from MacMall with a number of pieces of software including Parallels and Windows XP Home. I really want this Mac to work (I love my MacBook Pro), but I can't seem to load a piece of Windows software that I HAVE to be able to use. After I put the disc in I keep getting the same error message "The application failed to initialize properly (0x000135). Click OK to terminate." I have tried this same disc in a few pc's and it works fine.....so it has to be my new Mac. BTW the software is something I use that is specific to the funeral industry and the vendor does not support MAC, so I have to work this out on my own.

I din't have iTunes open, but when I try to install it opens it. Also won't respond to trying to find out which version i have ot any other info . I had to close it buy using the atctivity monitor and forcing it closed. I just upgraded to lion the other day and have been trying to get this set up to work with the cloud which it did.

Ever since I downloaded iplayer - my mac has been running slow. I have followed a few tips to remove it and all other related files - but it still runs low (spinning wheel of death) and now pdf's dont download correctly (I guess I have deleted too much).Â
My ideal would be to start from scrach - although I want to keep my itunes and iphotos files as well as my documents. Is there a way to reload back to factory settings then add selected programs and folders from timemachine? I am in the process of timemachine backing up everything now.Â

When I try to purchase the Lion Server from the App Store it displays a message that OS X Lion is also required uand I have to purchase both even when I am logged in and next to the Server item the client version confirms that I have already purchased it with a "download" button - the app has been downloaded but cannot install it as it is waiting for the app store to download the server components... and what if I just want to use it as a client only?
